AT present, we have some opportunities in Our BNI group. We meet each Thursday morning at Brown Sugar at Warners Bay.
In the last 12 months, we have seen over $2,000,000 worth of business passes from our members around the room to other members. In addition, we have forged some great business and personal friendships.
BNI has made a significant difference to my business and could to yours. If you would like to know more, please comment or send me a private message.
Come visit us on Thursday morning.
Cheers Ian
This Thursday morning, I will be our feature presenter at BNI Excel.
As we approach the new Financial Year 24-25, I ask all my clients, "Does your Marketing Plan align with and communicate your Business Plan?"
I have just completed a new book called "In Focus Marketing." The theme of the book is to create alignment and synergy between your business plan and your marketing plan.
This may seem common sense; however, do you have a written and deliberate Business Plan prepared and ready to follow for FY 24-25? Have you developed a marketing plan to support it? We are only one month away from kick-off!
90% of businesses don't have either. You are far more vulnerable to wasting money on your marketing if you have no plan. You are the victim of and more susceptible to good marketing from marketing companies if you don't know where you are going and growing over the next four quarters. When you have both, you can weigh the benefit of their proposals against your strategic plan.
If you can join me, I would love to invite you to breakfast with me and the BNI EXCEL Team. We meet at Brown Sugar at Warners Bay at 645 a.m. each Thursday. I am speaking this week, the 30th of May. I have to register you by 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
Please Message, call or email me and continue your "More from 24" Journey, preparing to "Thrive in 25" as well.
Cheers Ian
Great little Therapy session this morning with Andrew on his new little Seadoo GTI rocket 🚀
We haven’t been down to Fraser park in a while. Took in Catho and the old coal loader. Found some new blow holes and an awesome little wave a Crabs Creek Moon island. The sunrise wasn’t too bad as well
No whale’s yet. They should be going on holidays soon. I hope to get out again tomorrow.
This Thursday morning 30th I am talking at our BNI group about the importance of alignment of your marketing plan with your business plan. Someone told years ago,” 50% of your marketing works. What if you knew which 50%it is”
I know!
I would love to have you join us. I’ll put a spiel up tomorrow. We meet at Brown Sugar at Warners Bay at 7am
Great company and great food and it would be great to see you,
cheers Ian
Happy St Patrick’s Day to Ye’ all!
This is the 40th St Patrick's Day Donna and I have celebrated together as Husband and Wife.
We couldn’t have imagined what life would look like now, back in 1984. Three amazing kids with wonderful partners of their own and nine little grand rascals, life is very full!
Reflecting on 40 years of marriage last night led me to wonder, “What makes a HAPPY marriage?”
Whenever there is some sort of celebration, we wish happiness to fall upon the day, person, marriage, friendship, birthday, event or any memorable moment. But how can we choose to be HAPPY in those memorable moments, particularly in our marriage?
My crazy brain works in Acronyms, Backronyms, Acrostics and Word-ladders. So for this special moment, St Pat’s Day and our 40th Anniversary, let's discover how to stay HAPPY in Marriage
H= Helpful
Are you helpful in your relationship? Do you look to help each other? Do you carry the load, share the burden, support, encourage and consider each other first? Are you 100% in? Do you think of yourself first, or are you looking to be there for your partner first? Being considerate, kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and a blessing to your partner is helpful. We need to show, act and demonstrate our love through helpfulness.
A= Attitude
Do you have a good and positive attitude towards your partner? An attitude is chosen. Thinking positively, politely, protectively, positionally and proactively toward your partner, preferring them in front of you, will gather the right ingredients together to help you bake a good attitude and make a great relationship. I heard many years ago, “Attitude brings Altitude” We will be as high in life as we want to be by the attitude we choose, not the default attitude that creeps up on us.
P= Patience
Love is patient and kind, does not keep a record of wrongs but rejoices in what is right. Patience is practical love. It slows life down for the right reason. If you wait for and wait on your partner, the weight of your love and patience will be displayed and revealed in every area, and that could become the turning point from tension and conflict. When patience meets frustration and anger, it is like putting water on a fire. When impatience opens the door…Well… you know what that is like and most of us have been there.
P= Persistence
Persistence is having a soft heart and a firm resolve. Obstinance is having a hard heart and no resolve. To have a happy marriage, you need to be persistent. At the altar, we make an unconditional promise to an imperfect person. So, how did you think that was going to work out without being persistent?
At the Altar, we didn’t make a commitment to alter the other person so we could be happy. When the two become one, the best one the two become is the best of both of them, not the most dominant, getting their own way all the time.
Persistence is an authentic commitment to the person when life hits the flip side of our vows. Love is easy when we are healthy, wealthy, faithful, better, and feel cherished. When our love is tested with trials of unhealthy, unfaithful, hardship, feeling ignored, and things have taken a turn for the worse, persistence is what needs to kick in to restore your relationship. You may not feel like loving, but persistence is the starter motor for turning your life around.
Y = Yes
Say yes to more things in your life. When “I do” becomes “I did” you need to think about where it is you are heading. Saying yes to adventure, living life to the full, risk, intimacy, fun, being daring and having courage! Living life with determination opens your life up, whereas saying no all the time closes your life down. Many people I know will live the next year ten times and not live the next ten years. If you genuinely want to live this one opportunity of life, you have to say yes more often to its opportunities. To experience all the wonderful things you will enjoy by saying yes, you will make mistakes, maybe have a few regrets, fail sometimes and have a couple of disappointments, but you will have lived. Your life is not a dress rehearsal. It is the main movie, and you are the star of this show, not in the supporting cast! So shine, say yes boldly and live your life to the max!
So, if you are Helpful, have a great Attitude, regardless of the circumstances, you are Patient and Persistent you will find that not only will you say Yes to life more often, life will say Yes back to you and you will love living life. Planalife you want to live then go out and live it!
Have a great St Pat’s Day and I am off to enjoy my anniverary. Happy wife, happy life. Happy Hubby, home buddy!
Happy international women’s day. I have the privilege of coaching and working with truly amazing women who are shaping industries, transforming cultures and leading the way in so many ways. If you haven’t already show you appreciation this day and every day for the women who rock your world!
Thanks to all you wonderful ladies who rock mine!
Monday Moment 4.3.24
Are you seeking your opportunities?
Whatever gets your focus gets your life!
It's how we focus, not what we notice, that matters.
Winners continue to focus on their opportunities. Losers continue to focus on their loss.
What’s an OPPORTUNITY?
In the early years of trade around the Meditoranim Sea, when the Greeks, Romans, Israelites, Egyptians, and other significant trading nations traded their goods around the Ports of this magnificent waterway, the conditions of ports and harbours constantly changed.
Over the years, sandbars would grow and shrink in river mouths, wars and conflicts may strike out, wind and weather affected accessibility, and trading ports would open and close in various circumstances. The trading routes would stay consistent, but the availability of entry to ports may change.
Much of the cargo included dry goods and perishables, as the shipping lanes were the highways of yesteryear. Due to conditions, savvy captains and navigators often sought alternatives when last year's ports may be closed due to this year's circumstances. New ports are also about new clients, customers, strategic alliances, and networks. So, each year, they may have had an intended route or destination, but if this were closed, they would have to look for “New Open Ports to me.” Thus, the word opportunity was born.
In business today, just as in those ancient times, we must look for places to find new “Open Ports to us”. A trading partner may change, conditions may shift, and clients may move on. Competition may be too intense, and prevailing conditions in one location may change to another.
So, how do we identify an “Open Port to Me” Opportunity? How do we create favourable circumstances to work in our favour rather than to our detriment? Do we have control over it, or are we a victim of fate?
The fatalistic mindset is characterised by people who try and fail and decide to focus on failure. Focusing on loss will many times generate more loss. We cannot change the past. If we learn from history and focus on the future, our “next steps” will lead us toward new opportunities.
Opportunities are discovered by future-focused people who leave the past behind and continue, regardless of circumstances, to find something new.
An opportunity is a combination of circumstances that work for us in teh following four ways.
They fit us, both in size and nature, capacity and ability.
They are convenient to the current climate surrounding our business availability.
They suit the current environment both physically and economically.
And, they are favourable for setting up our future for more success.
If a door closed on you last week, don’t be devastated and focus on what closed in your life; seek an opportunity that may have opened now you have increased capacity to trade differently.
Have a great week, and remember your “Notice and Focus”.
Planalife you want to live through a Business on Purpose!
I would love to hear about the “Opening Ports” you see in the future.
Cheers Ian
Monday Moment 19.2.24
If you want to know what is happening in someone’s heart, read their face, not their words.
There is a communication rule called the 7 %- 38 %- 55% rule.
We are conducting several recruitments for clients and completing a lot of Behavioural Evaluations with our BOPQ - Business on Purpose Questionnaire and DiSC. These tools place you months and often years ahead with understanding your staff and building extremely dynamic teams. We have done DISCovery Sessions with over 350 people to date. We are in the process of another 15 now.
I always enjoy my first DISCovery session with someone when they complete their evaluations. Often, for the first time, they begin to understand themselves and all the relationships they manage.
The 7-38-55 rule is a concept concerning the communication of emotions. The rule states that 7% of meaning is communicated through spoken word, 38% through tone of voice, and 55% through body language. WOW. You actually say much more with your body and tone than you ever do with your words!
So, what you say with your Face, body, tone of voice, inflection, volume, attentiveness, interest, and connectedness is 93% of your communication. Your message or words only represent 7%. While a clear and concise message is essential, how we present the message is over ten times more important! Your body is the mirror of your soul, and until you understand yourself, that mirror could be clearer.
Could you make a checklist and see if you know the following about yourself accurately?
Do you know your preferred learning style - Eyes, Ears, or Experience?
Would you happen to know your consistent Management style?
Do you know what it is that motivates you and why?
Do you know your behavioural style? Do you know your personality type?
Do you accurately know what you will tend to do in conflict or when you have been disciplined?
Are you aware of your appreciation language?
Do you know your learning pace - Are you theoretical, a pacer or intuitive?
What is your leadership style? Do people recharge you or exhaust you?
How good are you at reading appropriate communication styles of people entirely different from you?
Do you encourage, force, motivate, deflect, blame, accept, forgive, reflect, ignore, move on, regret?
What are your workplace drivers?
Are you adventurous, conservative, bold, courageous, compliant, steady, influential?
Are you a coordinator or a great 2IC?
What is your ambient stress level? What Day to day stressors do you have to deal with?
What is your current Business Ambient Stress level, and what can you do about it?
Are you an ASSET to your company?
Do you have a Business, Marketing and Life Plan?
In all the areas above and many more, we can help you understand fairly accurately about yourself and the world you are immersed in. When we know ourselves, we are ready to start to understand others. When I work with people, they love peeling the layers back and looking at a mirror of their soul. They begin to understand what it is that makes them uniquely tick.
They also realise that they are not neurotic, misunderstood, complicated bi***es and bastards. They are complex, different, misunderstood, and just trying to navigate the most important relationships of their lives with little to no skill and competence when it goes pear-shaped and they don’t know what to do. If you would like to know more, please send an email. We can discuss where a good place to start for you would be. Remember, “Something Changes when Something Changes”. If you want to “Planalife you want to live through a Business on Purpose”, you must “Know thyself”.
Have a great week… Ian
