Great dinner meeting last night with the presentation of the Warragul Rotary “Excellence in Small Business” awards.

Congratulations to Jo Bourke from Warragul Dry Cleaners, Tammy Patrick from Studio 21 Music School and Jamie Padfield from Aussie Disposals (Warragul).

It's great having local businesses providing outstanding customer service.

A QUICK HISTORY OF DRY CLEANING

79 AD - The earliest cleaners were called fullers. They used ammonia and clay to clean togas. Yes, they used urine to remove stains.

1845 - Jean-Baptiste Jolly, a Frenchman, accidentally spills kerosene on a dirty tablecloth. Surprised that the stains are removed, he opens a store and calls the service "dry cleaning" because of its waterless process. Unsurprisingly, kerosene is flammable and governments are not happy.

1939 - New solvents are discovered that do a better job of cleaning clothes and don't catch fire. The world rejoices!

Clean clothes are the first step to preventing moth and other insect damage. Insects can damage clothes either directly or indirectly. Direct damage is caused by a group of insects feeding directly on a fabric. Indirect damage is caused when insects feed on spilled food or perspiration on the fabric. Moths attack the garment directly, especially wool and wool blends.

You have put your stained garment in the wash and the stain is still there!! Don’t despair - send it to us so we can have a go at getting it out with our specialised stain removers and equipment.
