REGIONAL RESTRICTIONS EASE
Regional Victoria will move to the third step in the roadmap to re-opening from 11.59pm on Wednesday night.
This means:
*There are no longer restrictions on leaving home (the four reasons no longer stand);
*Public gatherings of 10 people are permitted outdoors (infants under 12 months not counted);
*A ‘household bubble’ can be created with a nominated household for home visits allowing up to 5 visitors (infants under 12 months not counted);
*Schools return to on-site teaching in term four with a staggered start and childcare open; and
*Retail open as normal and beauty and tattoo services to resume if masks can be worn.
Premier Daniel Andrews said it was “a very, very big step but a safe step” and the change was “a credit to each and every regional Victorian”.
“I’m so, so pleased to make this announcement,” he said.

We need to supercharge our immunity at the moment, both because it's winter and we are in a pandemic.

THE VITAMINS:
+ Immune complex that contains the following; Andrographis, Echinacea, Olive Leaf, Vitamin C and Zinc. These are all immunity herbs and vitamins. (I take 1 with every meal. So that’s 1, 3 times a day)

Note: If you buy Echinacea, look on the bottle to see if the supplement contains the root or the leaf of the echinacea plant, I always go for the root over the leaf as it is more potent.

+ Go to local health food shop and have a shot of Tumeric and Ginger (as in a shot glass with it freshly squeezed)

+ Tea Tree Oil: This is amazing for a sore throat & inflamed glands!! Put it on the skin of your inflamed glands and throat. My mum is the original hippy. ( a vego, meditating, crystals using, yoga practising, essential oil using, hippy since I can remember) Mum put it on me as a little girl, and I still do it. It really works!

Note: It’s recommended that when you are using essential oils topically, always dilute with a carried oil (not water – oil and water don’t mix) before applying to the skin. Do a test patch first if you have sensative skin. My skin tolerates it directly on my skin, whereas my daughters does not, it will burn her skin.

DIET:
Have bone broths, slow-cooked meals, drink lots of water, manuka honey, garlic, ginger, tumeric, fruit & veggies. Avoid refined sugar and refinded carbohydrates your body will be in the best position to fight any infection. In general I stayed completely away from refined sugar, which has a suppressive effect on the immune system.

I drank lots of warm water with lemon in it. Chicken soup. (I buy homemade stock from the Prahran Market, that I keep in the freezer just in case) I used to make my own stock every week over winter, but I haven’t had the time to do that lately.

If you can tolerate garlic, you can swallow a clove cut in to small pieces or a clove of crushed garlic. It stinks but it will kill anything along with ginger and Tumeric in your cooking.

Note: Don’t swallow the garlic on an empty stomach or you might vomit. I learnt that tip the hard way in my 20s!

When you are sick, and if you have an appetite, the best thing is anything slow-cooked, which is why soups can be so comforting.

Anything that takes the “work” out of digestion is helpful, so your body can work on fighting the virus instead of focusing on digesting dense foods. Sugar and stimulants should be totally out of the diet when you are trying to avoid getting sick or if you are sick and need to mend.
I had one day when I thought “oh no I am going to get sick” ( I felt a little weak, walking up the stairs was hard) and I knew I could go either way. I rested that day as much as I could, and the following day woke up feeling myself and no sign of getting sick.

MOVEMENT:
I also stopped exercising or doing anything that would put stress on my system (only when I started to feel a little fatigued for no reason). Some people can exercise if they are sick or getting sick. I know my body, and it would make me sicker if I were to exercise. So the first sign of any virus I will rest and not exercise. Just know that high impact exercise is a stress on your system, and not always beneficial if your body is recovering. Start back with slow walking until you are back to your healthy self.

WHEN TO TAKE IMMUNE SYSTEM SUPPLEMENTS:
When it comes to immune system supplements, they work best taking them before you get sick. Often once you feel sick, it’s hard to avoid coming down with it. The trick is to start taking them as soon as you know others around you are sick and you still feel well, or if it’s flu season.

If you start feeling unwell increase them, and even if you feel like you have avoided it, don’t stop taking them cold turkey. I’ve made that mistake in the past and then it’s hit me as the virus was in my system. Continue on them for a few days after you think you should stop and reduce yourself off them slowly over time.

Without being too dramatic, even though many are saying COVID-19 is just the flu, I have had a few wellness practitioners tell me that they have had clients that had mild cases of COVID-19 initially, but then struggled with fatigue months after.

It’s essential at the moment to really support your system. We will inevitably get sick, but the more you can support yourself with supplements, healthy food and lifestyle habits to support your immune system, the better off you will be.
