MenAble are partnering with the Swan Centre with the support of the Butterfly Foundation to present an information evening on Eating Disorders on Wednesday, 8 November at 6 pm. This is a free community event presented with the support of the venue partner, the Esplanade Hotel, Busselton.

According to the Butterfly Foundation, eating disorders affect 4% of the Australian population. That is over 1 million people in 2022. 9% of Australians will experience an eating disorder at some point in their lives. Women and girls are more likely to experience eating disorders. However, it often surprises people to learn that 37% of those with eating disorders in Australia are male.
Eating disorders are complex and often poorly understood. They are often associated with a high level of psychological distress and significant health complications. They can have an extensive and prolonged impacts on mental and physical health.

Research shows that earlier detection and treatment improves outcomes. For individuals, families and the wider community, understanding more about eating disorders, their early detection and the benefit of a collaborative approach to their management can be profoundly valuable.

Please share this information in your networks and encourage early registration. MenAble and the Man Walk have been involved in presenting a prior community information event on Eating Disorders 2 years ago, and the event was booked out with 100 people attending.

This week is the Cancer Council's Australia's biggest morning tea fundraiser for cancer research.
Having had a highly successful Busselton man walk fundraiser focusing on men's health (particularly prostate and bowel cancer) on Monday, we are continuing to shake the tin for the cause here at Geobay Health Centre, home of Karri Health.
