Our Social Clubs are commencing soon - Don't miss out!

Neuro Flourish is committed to neurodiversity-affirming support, care and opportunities for our neurodivergent children. We aim to be a place where our children can be authentic and build relationships with other children their age with similar interests.

In term 4, we are running multiple social connection groups. I am really excited about this one because I enjoy crocheting too!

Each week in Term 4 (starting the 23rd of October) we have a group for 9-12-year-old neurodivergent girls who are interested in crochet (or knitting!)

These groups give our children opportunities to learn problem-solving skills, collaboration, looking from friends perspectives, communication skills* and friendships.

Complete the form to sign your child up: https://adhd-done-differrently.splose.com/public-form/11e41b65-9c48-4f0e-a87e-1f6e4887b9c3

Or for more information first head over to our website: neuroflourish.com.au/social-programs/

* Please note: your child does not have to communicate verbally to be included in this group. Neuro Flourish believes all communication is valid, and all forms of communication are welcomed and embraced.

I always thought that I had to be happy and if I wasn't - well there HAD to be something wrong with me.

But it is ok to feel sad, angry, happy, frustrated, excited, calm, peaceful, joyful, furious and anything in between.

Just like we need to know that all our emotions are ok and valid - so do our children.

When we let our children know that all emotions are ok - they will be much more likely to share with us when they are too big for them to handle alone.

Does your child love building Lego Sets?

Bring them along to one of our Brick Clubs in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie region of NSW (We will ask your area preference when you complete our form).

We are Certified Brick-by-Brick Programme Facilitators (The only LEGO brick-based therapy program supported by the LEGO Foundation).

We also ensure all of our programs are neurodiversity-affirming!

What better way to end Speech Pathology Australia Week by sharing our VERY EXCITING news!

Some of you were close with your guesses - but we are expanding our services AND changing our name from 2025.

We will become Neuro Flourish and begin offering a HUGE range of services for neurodivergent children, adolescents and their families, educators, allied health teams and communities.

This is my absolute passion area - being able to support neurodivergent individuals, like myself and my children, to grow into the incredible people they were created to be!

We are commencing a small clinical service in Term 4, 2024 will our full launch throughout 2025. If you want to seek supports for your children please complete the form here: https://adhd-done-differrently.splose.com/public-form/cf82e882-5e0a-4875-a178-7fac96f763e3

Welcome to Neuro Flourish!

We are a neurodiversity-affirming service that works with neurodivergent children and adolescents and their family, school and larger social-community systems.

We aim to support neurodivergent children and adolescents to embrace and celebrate their neurodivergent identity, help facilitate their self-advocacy and self-determination while assisting them to set and achieve their own goals.

We also provide education and training to parents and carers, teachers, and other allied health professionals who work with neurodivergent children, and will work in partnership with other amazing services around the country to link you in with neurodiversity-affirming supports!

Our owner, Linda Baker, is a neurodivergent award-winning speech pathologist, strengths-based researcher, and owner of ADHD Done Differently. She also understands what it's like to raise her own neurodivergent children (while being ND herself) and see them FLOURISH with the right support!

Our service will be hitting the ground running in 2025 with SO many exciting programs, services, and amazing team members, and our two services ADHD Done Differently and Neuro Flourish will be combining. We are working on building an amazing website neuroflourish.com.au and will let you know when it launches.

However, some of our clinical services and group supports will be commencing in TERM 4, 2024, to add to our continuing services of national speaking engagements, clinical supervision and group parenting supports.

We will be posting about some of our incredible programs that we are launching over the next few weeks - but a couple of highlights are:

* Crochet Crew:
An after school club in the Fletcher/Maryland area of NSW, that is designed for neurodivergent 9-12 year old girls who love to crochet and wish to make friends with similar interests.

* Brick Club:
A Lego club for neurodivergent children who will be commencing Kindergarten in 2025. This will be run by certified facilitators of the Brick by Brick program, in the Newcastle Region.

* About my ADHD self:
A fun and educational online group where ADHD children/adolescents (aged 8-12) can meet and learn all about themselves from a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming perspective. This will also include a parent training section, where parents/carers can learn about strengths-based supports and ADHD from a neurodiversity-affirming lens!

* SEA Bridge Curriculum group: (https://bridgeslearningsystem.com/sea-bridge/)
A fun, evidence-based program to support neurodivergent children's (aged 6-8) social and emotional acuity.

* Individual speech pathology services - online appointments

* Limited mobile speech pathology services in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas of NSW.

If you are interested in any of the following services (OR any other service you may need for your neurodivergent children)

Teaching our children and adolescents, and finding out about their own brains is VITAL for their LONG TERM wellbeing and resilience!

Thank you for our engaged social media followers! Here is a question I was asked about working on "size of the problem" with neurodivergent children.

The answer is NO - BUT we can help support their problem solving!

Remember: "responding appropriately" is expecting neurodivergent individuals to respond like neurotypical people.
This should NEVER be an expectation.

Any guesses what our SUPER EXCITING NEWS might be?

I don't think you will guess... ;)

Who is watching the Olympics?

There are many incredible Olympic athletes who are ADHDers - they can be amazing role models for our kids - not only because they are fantastic advocates and examples of ADHD strengths - but because it is so important that we look after our health by being physically active.

But what happens when your ADHDer doesn't like physical activity?

Here are some tips to help you out!

I am so excited to be a part of this research!

We are a team of researchers from the University of Newcastle who have developed a new online social-emotional communication program called Understanding Each Other. We are recruiting 8-12 year-old children, who may be Autistic or non-Autistic, along with one of their primary caregivers to take part in our pilot research study of this program.

The program will run for 6-weeks and there will also be some online surveys to complete, as well as two scheduled half-hour assessments online with a speech pathologist. All participants who take part in this research will go into a prize draw with four winners being drawn at random to receive a $100 GiftPay voucher.

To go to our Expression of Interest page, please click on the following link: https://uninewcastle.questionpro.com.au/EOI-UnderstandingEachOther . You will be given more information about our study, along with the chance to read a Participant Information Statement. If you would like to register your interest in taking part in the study, you will also be able to provide your consent, and fill out some key details about yourself and your child.

If you have any questions about this research, please get in touch with our lead researcher, Dr Babette Rae at [email protected] .

Thank you very much for your consideration of this research.

Neurodiversity sees what the medical model of disability doesn't.

That our traits are GREAT strengths, not disorders or things to get rid of... but traits that can be harnessed and used to help the ADHDer soar!
