Yesterday was Amy's last day and my word the last two years with her at Made By You has been so productive!

She has helped bring all my creative ideas to life, helped refine so many of our internal processes and anyone who's quoted with us, knows how thorough, friendly and helpful she is! Her 'I'll-figure-it-out' attitude, ability to code, design, animate and 'get me' when I say sounds as beats and basically just sing an edit (🤦🏽‍♀️ sorry that's how my brain works 😂) was unparalleled, and of course she gave the most thorough handover with directories and backups and all the packaged files how-to's there ever was because she cares so much about everything she does.

She was the perfect person to jump on board when we started, and while I'll keep trying to hire her back for the rest of my days, I know change is good especially when it's for lifestyle✨

While we'll miss her dearly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, it's so nice knowing we each got a friend for life 🙌🏽

We don't always get a chance to photograph every finished piece, or show every order going out (because we've moved into making the next, and the next) and we don't always hear back from our customers when we check in to see how their piece is settling into their new space... but boy... when we do... we just so appreciate it. 💕 Caroline customised a Rada Bookcase online and we chose some beautiful characterful features for the sides and shelves. Mass production can't do that. That's what makers do and when customers like Caroline "get it" - what we're trying to do - change the furniture industry by leading by example - well, that makes for a really Happy Friday too! 🙌🏽

Like these two Maxi Bedside Tables customised by Veronica to match the height of her bed perfectly - so she's not reaching down or up when pressing 'snooze' on her alarm. This Rada was customised to a 900mm length to fit this nook and leave space for the plumping pipe to the left. Not only does it make for extra handy storage but showcases their delicious coffee beans they sell separately (clearing selling like hot cakes!), while tying into the front blonde timber bench as well. Simple, modern lines for simple, modern displays.

We love our workshop, on NSW's South Coast. It's very much a 'maker space' - filled with lots of machinery for all our woodwork and creations, but also functions as a creative space where we have a mini studio to shoot all our furniture so you can see the kinds of customisations our customers make. We love having a mix of all things creativity weekly as we need a mental break from all the manual labour sometimes! Just two Co-Founders, standing in front of their furniture, promising to live forever.

But in all seriousness - Roo's bloods are almost back to normal and she is doing much better! So much so she's even modelling again. Like today, as we shot a few of the 13 pieces made in the workshop last week before they head to their new homes. We made a gentlewoman's agreement to increase the treat clause in her modelling contract and reinstate daily morning walks. The woman know what she wants!!
