Dr Beer MD completed his medical studies at the University of Notre Dame, Syndey in 2021. He has practiced medicine in multiple areas including Canberra, Moruya and Goulburn. Prior to undertaking medicine, Dr Beer was an Engineer in the Australian Regular Army. He is currently fulfilling his training requirements under the Graduate Medical Scheme.

Whilst not at work, Dr Beer enjoys fishing, farming and spending time with family and friends.

Good Morning Patients, you may be aware that in the May 2023 Budget, the Australian Government provided extra funding to GP's to assist them to retain bulk billing options for their patients.

This means that Medical Professionals Dapto will bulk bill Australian Government Department of Human Services Pension Concession Card holders, Health Care Card holders and Children under 15 years of age for an Item 23 standard consultation. All other items will be charged unless otherwise specified by a GP. New patients will be charged for their initial consultations and then if they fall into the above category, bulk billing will apply (except newborns).

On 1 October 2023. the Australian government introduced MyMedicare, a voluntary registration system which allows patients to formalise their relationship with their GP so that they can receive better coordinated and continuous healthcare.

The system is based on a dual consent process where both the practice and the patient need to consent.

Patient registration can be completed in one of the following ways:
• Patients can commence the registration process in their Medicare online services (Medicare Online Account or the Express Plus Medicare mobile application) and practice staff can then accept or decline the registration in MyMedicare system.
• Practice staff can commence the patient registration process in MyMedicare and patients can then complete the registration and provide consent in their Medicare online services.
• Patients can fill out a registration form at the practice and practice staff will then complete the registration in the MyMedicare system with the patient’s consent captured on the form.

It's Women's Health Week and the theme this year is "Grow your Knowledge" which is all about supporting women to make informed decisions about their health with information that's easy to understand. To support this, Medical Professionals Dapto will be giving away information bags to patients on Thursday, 7 September and our practice nurse, Sharnee, will be available to answer any questions our patients may have about their healthcare.

Patients are also reminded that we bulk bill all pap smears/CST's so if you are due for a test, please don't delay 💕

We have some exciting news to share! Last week, Medical Professionals Dapto achieved accreditation, thus maintaining its status as an accredited general practice. General Practices who are registered for accreditation must be assessed every three years against RACGP Standards 5th Edition to demonstrate their commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. As an accredited General Practice ,Medical Professionals Dapto has an infection control procedure in place which aims to ensure the health safety of all visitors. Face masks are an important part of the practice's infection control protocols. While face masks are not mandatory, we strongly advised that patients who present with cold and flu like symptoms wear a face mask to protect themselves and others from getting unnecessarily sick.

To date, Medical Professionals Dapto has handed out face masks to patients who are symptomatic free of charge, however from 1 June 2023, patients who do not bring their own face mask to their appointment but require one, will be charged a fee of $2.00.

The Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that raises vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer. So please spread the word and pop in to make a donation and enjoy some yummy cake for morning tea! We thank-you for your support.

'Kindy Flu' (or Influenza A) is a flu strain that is prevalent in babies and young children. This flu season has seen a spike in cases of 'Kindy flu' in day care centres and preschools across Australia, prompting health authorities to urge parents to vaccinate their children.
