POV. It’s week 1 of 3 lunchboxes and you haven’t quite had the motivation to prep.
🧡
Here’s your reminder that take the pressure off yourself, it doesn’t all need to be homemade, it can be leftovers, even better as usually leftovers are iron rich and nutrient dense! Fuller tummies for longer.. with lesser blood sugar crashes.
🧡
When lunchboxes come home still half full, remember that you have done your job by providing an optimal and nourishing breakfast to start the day.
🧡
When the external pressure of other kids lunchboxes that have ‘yummier’ and ‘fun treats’ feels heavy, remind yourself that your choosing what’s optimal for you and your family unit.
🧡
Some ideas for lunchboxes can include:
- homemade sausage rolls / empanadas
- mountain bread with and liver powder (check out .store reels)
- gelatine gummies
- leftover sausages
- homemade oat muffins
- chia pots
- leftover spag bol (in a thermos to keep warm)
- veg and fruit sticks with hummus / guacamole with Ceres Organics brand crackers
- Ceres Organic seaweed
- fruit straps
- sourdough/ wraps with nitrate free ham/ chicken / cheese
- biltong sticks
- bliss balls (or make as a slice if your cbf levels are higher than normal)
- oat slice
- boiled eggs
- pizza scrolls
🧡
Be kind to yourself! 🎒
Chewy Macadamia Slice 🤩
This slice reminds me of an ice-cream sandwich however is GF, DF, refined sugar free and loaded with good fats! Perfect for kick starting labour with those juicy dates, nourishing a new mother or postpartum recovery.
✨
If you are postpartum- it’s is just as scrumptious at fridge or room temp. In traditional Chinese medicine, postpartum mothers are nourished with warming foods to balance yin and yang energies. After giving birth, a woman’s yang energy is depleted, making her vulnerable to external cold. To support her recovery, it’s suggested to avoid exposure to cold, as the mother is both energetically and physically more open during this time. What a beautiful practice and ritual!
✨
INGREDIENTS
*Base*
3/4 cup roasted macadamias (You can use any nut however I find macadamias the most creamy)
8 large medjool dates, pitted
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup rolled oats
1 tbs h**p seeds (optional)
1 tbsp melted coconut oil
*Filling*
3/4 cup whole roasted macadamias *allergen
10 large medjool dates, pitted
1 tbsp miso paste
3 tbsp peanut butter *allergen
1/2 cup filter water
Garnish
2 tbs shredded toasted coconut
METHOD
Start by making the base. Add to a food processor the macadamias, coconut, h**p seeds, oats, dates, and coconut oil. Process until mix forms a sticky fine mixture.
Press the mixture into the base of a loaf tin (you could also use silicone muffin cups), forming up the edges to create a cup. Place in freezer to set while you make filling.
Add all of the filling ingredients to the processor and blend until smooth. Spoon mixture evenly into centre of each base cup, smooth out.
Sprinkle with shredded toasted coconut and return to freezer to set overnight.
Transfer to a container and store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

I remember this day so clearly, 1 April 2021. I knew I was pregnant however we booked a dating scan and were only going to the appointment to ‘rule out twins’.. famous last words. I was SO SO sick that I thought deep down it HAD to be twins as there was no way one baby could make me feel so so incredibly unwell. I was unwell with our first son until about 15 weeks, so only had this to compare it to.
✨
So on April Fools Day 2021 (what a weird day to book an appointment- everyone though we were kidding with them when we shared the news!) we toddled off to the appointment and of course, twins were absolutely ruled IN! Estimated mid November 2021 however we were told even at the 7 week mark to expect them early as ‘you probably won’t make it’ 🙄
The photos I am sharing here are not from the highlight reel, it got to a point where I didn’t even flinch removing myself from breakfast at a cafe to be sick, or even mid conversation.. the smell of certain foods even from a distance really got me going..throw in an active toddler and you’ve got yourself a real potent concoction! 😉
If this is you mumma, in your first trimester, I see you. Do what you need to do to take it slow. Journal. Ground yourself. Eat small bites, often. Ocean swim. Cold shower. Ginger remedies. Clear your calendar and be gentle with yourself.
🌱
Reflecting on this time with both my pregnancies, I wish I took more moment for me, to connect with my body and my babies..shifting my focus from watching each week whizz by on my several pregnancy apps as to what I ‘should’ be feeling/doing/eating/saying/thinking/not doing rather than just BEING. 🌀
Comment below what supported you in your early pregnancy season..
Say hello to fats! 🥑✨ Remember the fat-free craze of the 80s? Well, it's time to bid that goodbye! 🙌🏼 Healthy fats are the real MVPs for our wellbeing! They're like the superheroes of our diet - aiding nutrient absorption, supporting brainpower, and keeping our organs snug. Plus, they're the VIPs for radiant skin! 🌟
And guess what? These fats are essential wingmen during the baby-making years! 👶 They're the secret sauce for fertility and play a major role in hormone production - think of them as the squad behind testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone! 🕺💃 Oh, and during pregnancy, they're the brain boosters for the little one! 🧠
Post-baby? They turn into superheroes yet again by enriching breast milk and helping keep postpartum blues at bay! 🦸♀️🦸♂️ So, let's embrace these incredible fats for a healthier, happier journey! 💪
We choose to add healthy fat such as Ghee to our morning bulletproof coffee (including gelatine) to increase nutrient absorption of important fat-soluble vitamins A, D3, E, and K2, as well as calcium. Ghee/ healthy fats are amazing at protecting major organs and building nervous system tissue. Adding healthy fats also stabilises blood sugar and keeps you/ baby satiated for longer. When starting solids, ghee is a great option as it reduces the likelihood of constipation.
I used to think… why can’t they just wake up at the same time? 🥱 instead of the staggered start -Owen at 5am, Caleb at 6am and Mackenzie at 7am. I used to think - it would just be so much easier if we could all start the day together? We could clean up once, and once only and it would just be so much more streamline! 🎯
I’ve been sitting with this the last couple of weeks and only just today I realised that it is actually so special.. ✨ these three are so different and no, they are not robots I can optimise for the days efficiency. 🕰️
The 1:1 time with twins (plus a nearly 5 year old) is so rare. Owen is always our earliest riser..and you can see on his face the individual attention that he gets when he does wake first makes him beam! 🌈 So today, I shifted my mindset to ‘I *GET* to spend 1:1 time with big O.. we had a slow start, we watched the sunrise, had cuddles on the couch, made banana muffins (he helped me crack the eggs 🫠), stewed apples (not much made it to the pan 😅), he helped me make & my bulletproof coffees and we made breakfast for the other kids together. All this by 6.15am 🫠
Here is your reminder to take it slow and soak in the little moments ❤️🔥
It’s been a big week over here, we started (and completed) night weaning Mackenzie..and we are now only 1 feed a day before bed! Owen had self night weaned (I don’t even remember when I left fed him overnight) a few weeks ago. M @ O are two years old next month 🤯 That’s the crazy thing about motherhood- the little ‘norms’ are here for what feels like an age and you are struggling through to stay sane/ survive and then suddenly it’s not the norm anymore and that season has passed. 🌈
I have lent in my husband for the resettles this week and our usual musical beds however with different combinations of children 😂
I have also lent on nourishing meals (always), journaling, epson salt baths (magnesium replenishment), bath meditation, amazing distance reiki by and of course my YL oils- in particular Lavender to lessen discomfort whilst dropping the feeds/ reducing getting mastitis and peppermint to support supply drop (applied via a roller with coconut oil / massage). I’ve been diffusing ‘peace and calming’ (to support everyone) at night and kids have a Valor/lavender roller that they put on themselves as a part of nighttime ritual. These rituals and little self care practices are so sacred and I believe have supported us all in this process- mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.
🌀
Another great supportive YL oil is Copaiba (which I don’t have yet!) - I have heard is amazing for teething and weaning support.. this one isn’t in the starter bundles but lavender, peppermint, Valor and peace & calming are! DM me if you are keen to get your hands on wholesale pricing via YL (you need an account holder aka ME to hook you up!) to begin/continue wellness/lifestyle support via essential oils. 🌱
Balancing meals not only helps to maintain stable blood sugars but also supports building healthy habits whereby you intrinsically reach for nutritionally gratifying foods rather than refined carbohydrate/low protein options. You should feel energised and satisfied by the food you eat, but the way you eat should not feel like a sacrifice. I am all about reducing the ‘fillers’ and focusing on the nutrient density. Balanced meals include protein, fats, carbs - this is a great formula to use as a guide.
Most people don’t realise but your afternoon sugar cravings are caused by your choices in the morning.. unbalanced options such as refined carbs or low/no protein food choices. Ie toast, muffins etc
It’s often that we put more thought into balancing meals for dinner- however brekkie and lunch are equally important. By offering your little ones a nutrient dense breakfast and lunch option as a priority you can be sure that you are setting them up for success for the day, I won’t guarantee less toddler meltdowns but you can be sure that you are doing your best to keep their blood sugars in check and building up their gut diversity.
If mornings are hectic in your home - plan ahead! Chia puddings, soaked oats with Greek yoghurt, boiled eggs with avo, leftovers (roast/sausages etc) in mountain bread wrap *add avo for good fats. Remember, your little one dosnt know what a ‘traditional/western typical breakfast’ looks like so make the most of the season whilst they are young (and can’t order you around as such 🤭).. get wild! Sardines, liver, leftovers of all kinds! Dinner for breakfast is the best!
There are many symptoms that accompany blood sugar irregularities in adults and in children. Be especially mindful of maintaining balanced blood sugar if you experience:
😱Dramatic shifts in energy/energy crashes (ups and downs).
😴 Afternoon slumps.
⛈️ Sudden or irrational mood shifts, mood irregularity, irritability.
🍭 Sugar cravings
😵💫 Trouble focusing/unclear thinking.
🧠 Lightheadedness, headaches and/or migraines.
☕️ Strong reliance on coffee.
🐝Anxiety/jitters
I’ve been a little quiet… 🤫 deep in motherhood, work and life in general!I wanted to share some of my fav oils that have been diffusing most days! In particular *Valor* that I am also wearing as ‘perfume’! (So is my husband 🤩🤩🤩)
This is an amazing blend that includes the following single oils:
🌱 Black Spruce (balance and grounding)
🌱 Camphor (grounding)
🌱 Blue Tansy (overcoming anger and promoting a feeling of self-control)
🌱 Frankincense (elevating mind to overcome stress)
🌱 Geranium (peaceful and relaxing)
Not only does it smell amazing but the kids love it in their roller to support big feelings, anxiousness and fears. 🌝
What I do….first I Inhale Valor and apply it between both wrists, holding my wrists together, until I feel my body "shift" as in, more relaxed, less anxious, or more focused. Big belly breath. I always have it with my for long drives in Sydney traffic 😵💫 on my office days.
This blend was formulated to balance energies and instill courage, confidence, and self-esteem. It helps the body self-correct its balance and alignment. It’s energetically so powerful and definitely the oil in the starter bundle I am most drawn to. 💗
If you are needing some of this magic 🪄in your life - DM me and I can share details of how to access a YL starter bundle to begin your journey of essential oils! 🌙🌱🫶🏽
In July, I received my essential rewards monthly wellness products from Young Living. 🪄
I ordered Thieves Laundry Soap, Dish Soap and Household Cleaner. I have been testing these products for different purposes around the home and I am obsessed! ✅
The Thieves range has powerful antimicrobial and antiviral 🦠 properties which are great for grubby fingers and is also safe to use around little bodies and pets.
What I love from a cost💲 and environmental 🌱 perspective is that the product is designed to be diluted as it is ultra concentrated.
The Thieves Household cleaner I have now used on virtually every surface in my home, including carpets, floors, benches, oven/rangehood, glass, walls 🫠🫣🫠
I have found it to be an effective, deep clean without the harsh or dangerous chemicals found in many traditional cleaning products (which are generally filled with toxic parabens and synthetics). 🧼 🛑
One capful of Thieves Household Cleaner is equal to approximately ½ tablespoon, so ½ cup of water mixed with one capful of cleaner yields a 15:1 dilution. 💧
From a price 💰 perspective, by setting up a wholesale account (I can help with this- DM me!) One bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner (426ml bottle) will make up over 12 litres of cleaner for a total of $41.10 AUD.
This works out when diluted to $3.425 per litre (for safe effective, multi use powerful, ultra-concentrated, plant-based solution). 🎯 I don't think you can buy a litre of cheap and nasty multipurpose spray from the supermarket for that price? 🛒
I feel empowered 💪 by making the switch to YL products that I have control of what comes into my home 🏡 , it’s cost effective 💵 , smells divine 🪄and it works! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
DM me to find out more, If you are on the fence, I can send you a Thieve’s Householder cleaner sample to try for yourself! 😍
