Metabolism 101�
Your metabolism is so critical for weight loss because it is responsible for how many calories your body burns at rest. Everyones metabolism is different based on genetics, body make up & also lifestyle behaviours�
�For me this is by far the leanest and biggest I have ever been & right now I am cutting (in an energy deficit) and still consuming 2700 calories a day. This is thanked due to my high metabolism�
I have gone through some cuts (weight loss faces before) and I always cut my calories drastically. I either wasn’t tracking and just starving myself or I was tracking but only eating around 2000 calories. This hurt my metabolism and although resulted in fast weight loss, I lost muscle & eventually my fat loss stopped because of metabolic adaptation. My body essentially got used to only eating so little calories and hence my metabolism dropped�
�So whats the message from this post?�
�Don’t starve yourself when dieting! All you will do is hurt your metabolism and hinder your continued progress. Do it slowly. Remember the turtle beats the rabbit

For a lot of people having abs is one of there major motivators for working out
So, how do you get abs?
To get abs you need to be a low body fat %. Everyone has abs but your fat is just covering it. So the immediate goal should be to be in a calorie deficit to lose fat and then your abs will come out
However training abs is still beneficial and can give them better shape & defintion

If you are exercising in the PM start your day with a high fat high protein meal
If you are exercising in the AM have a high protein high fat dinner
The Egg veg omellete with avocado pictured is a great example of a healthy high fat high protein meal
Why do we have high fat high protein meals at these times?
Because for fast fat loss you should eat your daily carbohydrates around your workout.
This is because the main role of carbs is energy so whats the point of having them when you arent going to use them... they will more then likely be stored as fat.

Resistance training is key to fat loss!
My Clients Adam and Renee are absolutely on FIRE!
They push themselves to their limits in every session. We generally do high intensity interval style weight based sessions to maximise the amount of calories burnt in the session and also out of the session when Adam and Renee are resting.
Burning calories at rest? how is that possible? Well..Everyday our body has a basal metabolic rate in which it burns a certain amount of calories. The average adult has a metabolism that burns 1600 calories a day.
But this figure is highly dependent on body composition....because 1kg of muscle burns about 3 times more calories at rest then 1kg of fat.
That is why athletes can eat so much food and not put on fat!! and that is why it is so crucial to do weights based training to increase your muscle mass which will increase metabolism and help you lose more fat!!

Weight training is a very effective form of fat loss. Maddi does weight training over four times a week and is losing over a kg of fat per week.
Wether you lose fat or build muscle depends on how you eat. If you are in a calorie deficit and lifting weights then you will get more toned and lose fat. You gain muscle and bulk only if you are in a calorie surplus.
