We were honoured to support the installation of Mr. Michael Still as the University of Wollongong’s fifth Chancellor, at a ceremony held at University Hall this Monday. Stepping into a new era under his leadership, Mr. Still brings three decades of cross-sector leadership, enriching UOW’s mission with his commitment to innovation and community engagement.

For this momentous occasion, we were privileged to work alongside Crisp Ideas, building a system that provided redundancy at every opportunity. Panasonic cameras and Barco projection ensured that every moment was captured with stunning clarity.

Complementing this setup, our team deployed MINA arrays to discreetly deliver clear, intelligible audio that made every word of the new Chancellor’s vision for the future resonate throughout the venue.

We’re excited to see the new heights UOW will reach with Chancellor Still at the helm.

Congratulations to the classes of 2020 & 2021! 🎉

Last week, CMG partnered with the UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia to deliver a live broadcast to celebrate the achievements of the 2020/2021 Graduates.

The combined virtual Graduation Ceremony involved four concurrent live streams, one tailored for each university faculty, complete with a full production on the main stage and a multi-view camera system broadcasting in high definition.

Almost 5000 viewers tuned in to watch the online ceremony, featuring a great musical performance by Australian band Hockey Dad and an excellent keynote address by Dr Fiona Wood AM, Director of the Royal Perth Hospital burns unit and the Western Australia Burns Service. Congratulations to all involved.

The Night Cat music venue and nightclub located in Melbourne, Australia had the goal of creating the best-sounding venue in town, so owner Justin Stanford partnered with in-house engineer Louie Michael to upgrade the system to an ULTRA-X40 PA. Louie reached out to Meyer Sound directly to develop a front of house system design, too. This setup, provided by dealer CMG Audio Visual & Touring, features Meyer Sound ULTRA-X40 full-range loudspeakers accompanied by ULTRA-X20 fills and two 1100-LFC low-frequency control elements. A third 900-LFC joined the design to cancel low frequencies. A stage monitor upgrade will be coming soon with Meyer Sound MJF-210 stage monitors.

There will be an exciting mix of corporate events, hybrid/live streaming and large-scale live shows that will enable you to showcase your creative and technical talents, grow your industry knowledge and achieve your goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build and maintain strong positive relationships with all clients;
• Project manage all in scope event requirements, including technical and creative delivery;
• Manage the event planning process from initial booking through to the successful delivery of the event;
• Deliver, set-up and ensure all equipment is safe and operational;
• Operate, maintain and provide technical support services for AV, sound and lighting equipment;
• Have an appreciation for sales, safety and operational processes;
• Record, monitor and update event information and requirements in the central booking system;
• Maintain client contact records with regular and accurate database updates;
• Ensure a tidy and professional personal presentation at all times;
• Make sure that all equipment received, dispatched and delivered is recorded and stored appropriately.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALITIES

• Demonstrated experience with event lighting, vision and audio technology;
• Direct experience operating events and functions (including project management);
• Proven troubleshooting and technical support expertise;
• Advanced communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
• Exceptional levels of professionalism including personal presentation;
• A focus and enthusiasm for developing lasting relationships with clients;
• Strong attention to detail with well-developed time management and organisational skills;
• Highly collaborative team player that aims for positive outcomes;
• Methodical in approach to defined processes, operations and records management;
• Very high level of computer literacy;
• Ability to prioritise and handle a varied workload, both time-effectively and to a consistently high-standard;
• Ability and preparedness to move, lift and set-up/pack-down AV equipment;
• Flexibility to work after hours, on weekends or travel as required due to the diverse nature of the live event industry;
• Previous experience with AV installation and system integration projects would be advantageous (but is not essential);
• A current NSW Driver’s License.
