Every week the wonderful folk at Orange Sky Australia connect with people doing it tough by providing free access to laundry facilities, warm showers and a place for non-judgemental conversation and connection. 💬

The world’s first free mobile laundry started as a simple idea to restore dignity and has since grown into much more; a chance for individuals experiencing adversity to connect with a range of social welfare support services in local communities. 🧡

🫶 A recent grant of $330,000 from our Greater Charitable Foundation will enable Orange Sky to continue their free laundry and shower services in the Gold Coast and Taree regions over the coming years for people who need it the most.

And suddenly, we're almost halfway through May! 🤯 With time moving so fast, we thought we’d take a look back on the many ways we helped make the communities you call home last month.

💙An organisation supporting parents in Armidale, Helping Children & Families Association, has been named the winner in the latest Community Funding program, helping us reach a new funding 'smilestone' for the region! Since 2018, we’ve proudly gifted over $450,000 to 270+ community organisations in Tamworth, Armidale, and Gunnedah, helping make New England greater.

👋 We celebrated youth week by welcoming Greater Charitable Foundation's new partner, PCYC NSW This exciting partnership will support four Fit for Work (FFW) programs across the Hunter and Illawarra regions over the next two years, helping local youth aged 16-18 reach their full potential and prepare for their next steps in life with confidence.

🔬In line with World Health Day, our Greater Charitable Foundation announced over $265,000 in funding support will go towards helping clinical researchers from John Hunter Hospital, Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) and The The University of Newcastle, Australia launch an important new study into the cardiac causes of stroke.

🥅For the second year in a row, we invited the students and families of Greater Charitable Foundation partner Aspect - Autism Spectrum Australia to enjoy six Newcastle Jets games from the comfort of their very own quiet room. At no cost, these private corporate suites give students the option to bring along their sensory equipment, making for a greater game day experience.

🏃And last but not least, our people joined in all of the school holiday fun by volunteering at our last Jets:PLAY clinic of the season! It was great to get out and about in the community alongside a blockbuster turnout of junior footballers.

Founded in 2005, the Armidale-based organisation connects local families with volunteers who visit their homes to help with anything from running errands to assisting with everyday household tasks to simply just offering a friendly face to chat with over a cup of tea. ❤️

With storytelling so central to knowledge sharing and cultural preservation, the Façon Australia Indigenous Storytellers Scholarship will provide talented artists with a platform to share their voice and nurture the oldest living continual culture on the planet. 🌏

Last year’s recipient of our $10,000 scholarship was awarded to Dyirbal man and filmmaker Jahvis Loveday, who has created 12 short films and 250 online videos bringing First Nation’s stories to life. 🎥

“The scholarship helped me kick start incredible projects over the past year, collaborating with Indigenous artists from my region and beyond,” Jahvis said.

From grassroots associations to talented athlete programs, Greater Bank loves its netball and is back supporting regional academy programs for another year! 🙌

Almost 100 talented netball players and umpires have been selected into programs at the Hunter Academy of Sport, Central Coast Academy of Sport, and the Western Region Academy of Sport, where they will develop their skills and compete in regional tournaments later this year. 🏐🎽

This is a proud partnership for us, and we can’t wait to see what these athletes achieve this year. 💜
