Signs and symptoms
fever, feeling generally unwell or tired, joint or muscle pain, headache, neck stiffness, a rash of red or purple pinprick spots or larger bruises etc.

Flu Quadri, (flu vax) is now available at the clinic. This can be given to anyone aged 6 months and over. This vaccine is an out of pocket expense of $15. We are hoping to receive the free (Government funded) vaccinations for patients who are elliagable at the end of March or early April. If you were vaccinated in late 2023 or even early 2024, you should still receive the new 2024 flu vax when it becomes available.

BreastScreen Victoria has it’s mammogram bus visiting Warburton from 14/02/2024 – 29/02/2024. It will be at the Adra Redwood Centre, 3505 Warburton Hwy, Warburton. Appointments can be made on the website www.breastscreen.org.au or by calling 13 20 50.

Iron infusions are for people diagnosed with iron deficiency anaemia-this is done via a blood test. Yarra junction medical centre can provide in-clinic iron infusions which are safe, effective & stress-free.

We have Self-collection kits available for the Cervical Screening Test. Are you up to date?

If you are eligible and want to collect your own sample, your GP will give you the kit and instructions.

Did you know that over 600 volunteer knitters craft around 50,000 Trauma Teddies a year?

Trauma Teddies provide care in so many ways:
* Comfort to children during wound care
* A warm welcome to refugee children
* Company in a speeding ambulance

It takes about 5 hours to knit and finish each Teddy. That's a whopping 250,000 volunteer knitting hours each year – or a mind-blowing 7.5 million volunteer hours over the past 30 years. Every Trauma Teddy is lovingly put together, and must pass a quality control test to guarantee comfort and safety.

Shingles update!

From 1 November 2023, the shingles vaccine Shingrix will replace Zostavax on the National Immunisation Program for eligible people most at risk of complications from shingles.

A 2-dose course of Shingrix is available for -
• People aged 65 years (recently changed from the previous 70 years of age)
• First Nations people aged 50 years or older
• Immunocompromised people aged 18 years or older with certain medical risk conditions.

In most cases, the first and second doses of Shingrix need to be 2-6 months apart.
If you have previously received a free Zostavax shingles vaccine, you are not eligible for a free Shingrix vaccine for at least 5 years.
If you purchased the Zostavax vaccine privately, you can receive Shingrix for free under the program if you’re eligible.
You should wait at least 12 months between receiving Zostavax and getting the Shingrix vaccine.

Dr Nadeeka’s training includes Emergency, hospital, and GP care. Along with being a GP, Dr Nadeeka is a qualified provider of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Hypnotherapy , Relaxation techniques, and applies a holistic approach to every patient she sees to improve their care outcomes.

Along with English, she is able to communicate in Russian and a little Tamil. When Nadeeka is not at work, she enjoys spending time with family, doing meditation and travelling.
