Sunday 10th December saw us bring our tournament year to a close with our annual Christmas Scramble.
44 players took to the course on a unseasonably warm and calm day to compete in a 4 person scramble. Many members came in Christmas sweaters and fancy dress, which was great to see and brought an even more festive note to the event.

Following golf, there was an excellent buffet lunch provided by our F&B team which was followed by the presentation of prizes.

Third Place with a score of net 59.3 Tofig Afandizada, Fuad Musayev, Rajesh Chawla and Gary Wiles

Runners - up with a net score of 58.3 Ilgar Ahmadov, Khalil Huseynov, Elman Rzayez and Eldar Kerimov

Winners with an exceptional net score of 54.5 Nick H**e, Martin Docherty, Scott Blyth and Wes Saunders

Special mention also goes to Azzubair Jwayyed who had a fantastic hole-in-one on hole 13, congratulations Azzubair.

We will announce the tournament schedule for the coming year in the next couple of weeks, but our next tournament is our Season Opener on January 14th

Anniversary Tournament 2023

Sunday 12th November saw 28 teams of 2 players compete for the 2023 Anniversary Tournament in a pairs scramble format

In challenging conditions, Tofig Afandizada + Scott Blyth were crowned champions, with a very impressive net score of 65.5

Runners-up were Byeng Inn Moon + Kwang il Kim with a net score of 68.2 and third place went to Chris Williams and Iain Grant with a net score of 69.1.

Longest Drive went to IIgar Ahmadov and Nearest the Pin went to Gary Wiles.

We would like to say a special thank you to Bob McEwan and Les Tulleth who kindly donated prizes of Malt Whisky for the winners.

Memento Cup 2023 Tournament

MEMENTO CUP 2023 Tournament.

36 pairs took to the course over the weekend for the inaugural Memento Cup Tournament. Despite the windy weather, there were two very good scores.

Day 1 Pairs Betterball Strokeplay format. Teams were drawn later in the day during a fine evening at Scalini's Lounge to formulate Sunday's scramble teams.
Day 1 plaudits went to winners Willie Garden and Adam Stanford who scored a fantastic 65 (-7)
Day 1 Runners up winners were Parviz Muradov and Tural Valizade 66 (-6).

MEMENTO CUP DAY 2 SCRAMBLE FORMAT

Sunday morning started with breakfast in the Hotel and the settling of day 1 fines with all proceeds being donated to the Charity . The shotgun 10 am, bottles of spirits were available to raise a glass at the benches of Wullie Walls, John McGhee, Gary Duncan, and Christopher Bernardi. Draft beer was put on at the Midway Cafe. After golf, before the prizegiving ceremony commenced a closely contested Chip and Tip Competition on 18 green captivated the on-looking audience from the balcony. We thank all members for the great support Golf Team.

Congratulations to our future star Emin who managed to beat our members in chip and Tip competition to win a TaylorMade hybrid and bottle of whiskey. A total of 1310 AZN was raised as a thank-you tip for the Dreamland Golf Team.

Day 2 Runners were the team of Robert McEwan, Leslie Tulleth, David Seo, and Kwang Il Kim 60.9 (-11).
Day 2 Winners were Vasso Papadopoulou + Grant Gilmour + Huseyn Babazade 59.5 (-12.5)

On day two of the course skill competitions were won by the following:

The Memento Cup overall winners were determined by both days 1 pairs scores plus day 2 Texas Scramble results. Finishing overall 3rd place with a total score of 201.6 was the team of Willie Garden, Adam Stanford, Dean Mcewan, and Danny Lee.

Overall, Runners Up were the team of Parviz Muradov, Tural Valizade, Ryan Baxter, and Chris Crampton with a score of 201.1.

Huge congratulations to Memento Cup Champions Vasso Papadopoulou, Grant Gilmour, and Huseyn Babazade with a total score of 200.5 well done guys!

This past weekend saw 15 teams compete for the prestigious title of Azerbaijan Open Champions 2023, sponsored by Oceaneering.

Although the conditions on Sunday were extremely difficult, some great scoring was still achieved.

The Overall Winners
The overall winners - were the team sponsored by Khazar Fabrication consisting of David Kavanagh, Graham Beattie, Steve Baker, and Chris Wood-Woolley with an exceptional score of 215 Stableford points over the 2 days.
The winning team took home some excellent prizes sponsored by Four Seasons Baku, Bazarstore, TEN/11 Bar & Restaurant, Doha Golf Club and Savalan Wine, and the 2023 Azerbaijan Trophy.

Runners - Up
The runners-up were - the team of Eldar Kerimov, Regina Badalbayeva, Tofiq Afandizada, and Fuad Musayev. They also received some excellent prizes, sponsored Hilton Baku, Bazarstore, TEN/11 Bar & Restaurant, Tbilisi Hills, and Savalan wine.

It was a great pleasure to host the Tbilisi Hills team at Dreamland Golf Club. We had a great 2 days, with 18 holes of fun and friendly competition.

The 1st round of the game, which started with a 10 am shotgun on Saturday, ended with a 4-1pts victory for the Dreamland team. 2nd round teams tied 2.5 - 2.5. Since the DL team headed to the Final round 3 points in front, only 4 points were enough for us to win the game.
Excellent wins from Wes, Martin, Alistair, Khalil, Eldar, and Elman and draws from Ilgar and Tofig ensured our team win the Sunday singles 7-3, securing an overall win with a score of 13.5 - 6.5. The final-day dominance gave Dreamland a monumental win ensuring the Quaich trophy is returned to Dreamland.

THE OPEN MEDAL 2023

The 151st Open will be staged at Royal Liverpool this week. Dreamland’s annual Open Medal tournament will be held on Sunday 23rd of July. All Medal players will draw a player name from the Pros who made the cut in the 151st Open Championship Tournament. Your net score will be added to the professional player's 72-hole score to determine our Claret Jug winner here in Baku.

All players are to commence from hole #1, Open tee times are available from 09:00 onwards.
Strokeplay format, men to play from the Blue Tees and ladies from the Gold, maximum handicap 36.
