A powerful speech by one of our students during the Awarding Ceremony of RUWED on 15/12/2023.

In Rohingya community, the importance of women's education cannot be underestimated as it serves as a catalyst for societal progress and development. When women are educated, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to participate actively in various fields, from healthcare and education to business and politics. Empowering women through education not only enhances their individual well-being but also contributes to the overall advancement of communities and nations. Educated women are more likely to better understand their health, family, and future, leading to improved social and economic outcomes. Furthermore, investing in women's education promotes gender equality, breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society. In short, woman's education is key for positive change and sustainable development.

Today, RUWED RUWED ( Rohingya Union For Women Education and Development) conducted a certificate awarding ceremony of Basic Rohingya Poetry Training. In the ceremony, published poets and some other guests who had good knowledge of poetry were invited to give speech.
There were 20 trainees in the training, facilitated by young Rohingya poet, Pacifist Farooq . It took a month addressing sth from Rohingya, Burmese, and English poetry and discussion on figures of speech, imagery, line break and scansion, etc.
The objective of providing training is to empower Rohingya youths, to revive Rohingya culture and tradition, to preserve the Rohingya language from extinction and to be able to write and highlight their suffering from the refugee camp where there is no much news media or newspaper to cover the incidents happening almost everyday.
For years, the field of poetry is vacant in the rohingya community. This kind of certificate Awarding Ceremony on poetry has not happened both in Myanmar and Bangladesh at all. This is partly because Rohingya people are not allowed to do it. So, this is the first to talk about poetry in large gatherings and to hold a certificate awarding ceremony of poetry.
Rohingya Union for Women Education and Development

🖤 We commemorate 🖤
On this day, we remember a tragic event that took place on 3rd June 2012, when 10 Islamic preachers fell victim to a senseless massacre. This act of violence led to the displacement of approximately 40,000 Rohingya people within Arakan State. Today, they continue to suffer in IDP camps, longing for a resolution that will allow them to return to their homeland.
As we mark this solemn occasion, let us raise our voices and stand in solidarity with the Rohingya community. It is crucial that we bring attention to their ongoing struggle and advocate for a lasting solution. Every person deserves a safe place to call home, free from fear and persecution.
The plight of the Rohingya people must not be forgotten. By commemorating , we remind the world of their enduring resilience and the urgent need for a just resolution to their displacement.
Join us in spreading awareness about this important day. Share this post to ensure that their voices are heard and their stories are told. Together, we can work towards a brighter future for the Rohingya people and a world where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Every girls are tomorrow’s mothers. And a mother is a source of a generation. To get a generation of excellence, girls (our mothers) need to be educated. As a famous arobic poet said, “A mother is a school, preparing her well is like preparing for a good generation.”
