Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar

This morning, Pakistan undertook a series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes against terrorist hideouts in Siestan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. A number of terrorists were killed during the Intelligence-based operation – codenamed ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar'.

Over the last several years, in our engagements with Iran, Pakistan has consistently shared its serious concerns about the safe havens and sanctuaries enjoyed by Pakistani origin terrorists calling themselves 'Sarmachars' on the ungoverned spaces inside Iran. Pakistan also shared multiple dossiers with concrete evidence of the presence and activities of these terrorists.

However, because of lack of action on our serious concerns, these so-called Sarmachars continued to spill the blood of innocent Pakistanis with impunity. This morning’s action was taken in light of credible intelligence of impending large scale terrorist activities by these so called Sarmachars.

This action is a manifestation of Pakistan’s unflinching resolve to protect and defend its national security against all threats. The successful ex*****on of this highly complex operation is also a testimony to the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Pakistan will continue to take all necessary steps to preserve the safety and security of its people, which is sacrosanct, inviolable and sacred.

Pakistan fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The sole objective of today’s act was in pursuit of Pakistan’s own security and national interest which is paramount and cannot be compromised.

As a responsible member of the international community, Pakistan upholds the principles and purposes of the UN Charter including territorial integrity and sovereignty of member states. Guided by these principles, and in exercise of our legitimate rights within international law, Pakistan will never allow its sovereignty and territorial integrity to be challenged, under any pretext or circumstances.

Iran is a brotherly country and the people of Pakistan have great respect and affection for the Iranian people. We have always emphasized dialogue and cooperation in confronting common challenges including the menace of terrorism and will continue to endevaour to find joint solutions.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner presents his credentials to the President of Bangladesh

Dhaka; December 7, 2023:
High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Bangladesh, H.E Syed Ahmed Maroof today presented his credentials to the Honourable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Mohammed Shahabuddin, in an elegant ceremony held at the Presidential Palace Bangabhaban.
While presenting credentials, High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof conveyed to the President the greetings and good wishes of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan and expressed the desire of the Government of Pakistan to further strengthen the existing cordial relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh to the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.
Welcoming the High Commissioner, the President felicitated him on his appointment and assured his full support and cooperation in the discharge of his diplomatic responsibilities.

Government of Pakistan has introduced a Sponsorship Scheme in Hajj Policy for facilitation of overseas Pakistanis.
Through this Scheme, overseas Pakistanis can:
• Sponsor himself / herself or anyone else for Hajj without balloting.
• Apply for Hajj even if they have performed Hajj in the last five years unlike the applicants Regular Scheme.

• Out of the Government Hajj Scheme, 25,000 quota and 50% quota (44,803) of private hajj scheme have been reserved for Sponsorship Scheme.
• Applicants are required to deposit their Hajj dues in foreign exchange remitted from abroad through designated banks.
• The pilgrims of the Sponsorship quota are exempted from balloting and will be
utilized on first come first served basis.

High Commissioner for to , H.E. Syed Ahmed Maroof hosted a dinner at Pakistan House, to bid farewell to the outgoing Defence Advisor, Brigadier Ali Ijaz Rafi and to welcome his successor, Brig Imran Yousuf Choudry. A number of Defence Advisors stationed at Dhaka also joined the dinner alongwith officials of the High Commission. A flag of Pakistan that had been flying at Pakistan High Commission Bangladesh since 23 March 2023 was presented by the High Commissioner to Brig Ali as a momento for his illustrious services rendered at Dhaka. We wish him well for his future assignments!

The officers & staff of the High Commission today bid resounding farewell to the Defence Advisor, Brigadier Ali Ijaz, who has completed his tour of duty and welcomed his successor Brigadier Imran who has just arrived in Dhaka.
Two staff members, Mr. Ramzan & Mr. Sajid also received accolades from the High Commission team on successful conclusion of their duties at . On the occasion, the High Commissioner, H.E Syed Ahmed Maroof commended professionalism of the Defence Advisor and staff during their stay at the High Commission.
The High Commission team extended their best wishes to the departing members and prayed for their success in their future assignments.

Pakistan High Commission's Football Team secures 3rd Position at 4th Embassy Football Tournament
Dhaka, November 25, 2023: Football team of the Pakistan High Commission, Dhaka clinched 3rd Position at the 4th Embassy Football Tournament that was played here at Bashundhara Sports Complex, Dhaka from November 24-25. In all, 16 teams of foreign missions based in Dhaka including a team of Ministry of Foreign affairs of Bangladesh participated. The two-day football festival was organized by a local company in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Bangladesh with the purpose to promote harmony and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation.
Pakistan’s journey to success commenced with High Commission's Football Team clinching a victory in their first match against the Indonesian Embassy team, securing a spot in the quarterfinals. The momentum continued as the team also triumphed in a quarterfinal match against the Saudi Arabian Embassy team, earning them a place in the semi-finals. In an impressive showcase of skill and unwavering determination, Team Pakistan ultimately clinched 3rd place by defeating Russian Embassy team with 3-0.
The tournament was won by UK High Commission football team with US embassy team as runner-up.
Pakistan's High Commissioner, Syed Ahmed Maroof participated in the opening ceremony of the 4th Embassy Football festival along with Bangladesh's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Shahriar Alam and enjoyed watching Pakistan’s and other teams’ matches. He also interacted with the Minister of State and appreciated the efforts of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others for holding the football festival to promote the game while fostering goodwill and friendship among missions through a healthy competition. He said Pakistan High Commission will continue to actively participate and contribute to events that promote harmony and friendship among countries and peoples.

Pakistani Stall Captivates Visitors at Dhaka International Charity Bazaar

Dhaka, November 17, 2023:

The Pakistani Stall established by Pakistan High Commission Bangladesh at the International Charity Bazaar, emerged as a major attraction, drawing enthusiastic visitors and members of the diplomatic community. The International Charity Bazaar, organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh in Dhaka, witnessed participation of dozens of diplomatic missions and organizations.

The meticulously curated Pakistani stall showcased a diverse array of offerings, including exquisite Pakistani dresses, handicrafts, artifacts, and a delectable spread of popular Pakistani cuisines like Biryani, Kabab, samosa, Channa Chaat, Kashmiri Chai and more.

The Ladies Club of Pakistan High Commission led by Syeda Shazia Nahid, spouse of the High Commissioner, orchestrated Pakistan's representation at the event. All High Commission officers and officials along with their families actively participated in the event and made it a resounding success.

While attending the inauguration ceremony of the Charity Bazar, High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof emphasized the significance of events like International Charity Bazaar in showcasing the rich cultural heritage, and diverse culinary traditions while contributing to a noble cause in the host country. The High Commissioner said that Pakistan High Commission will continue to actively participate in such initiatives to share the warmth and vibrancy of Pakistan's culture.

High Commissioner for to , H.E. Syed Ahmed Maroof attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at Comilla War Cemetery of Bangladesh on 11 November 2023. During the ceremony, the High Commissioner, paying respect to the fallen, laid the wreath at the cemetery. The ceremony was followed by a visit to the Slim’s Bunker in Comilla Cantonment. High Commissioner Maroof was accompanied by Brig Ali Ejaz, Defence Advisor, Pakistan High Commission Bangladesh.
