Today, we celebrate the Independence Day of Bangladesh with great pride and reverence. It's a day that holds a special place in our hearts as a nation, a day when we commemorate the sacrifices made by our forefathers who fought for our freedom and rights.

On this auspicious day, we remember the ideals of our founding fathers and their vision for a free and democratic Bangladesh. We reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values of justice, equality, and human dignity that they fought for.

"Once in a Blue moon" is a phrase commonly used to describe an incredibly rare event, but what does it mean in astronomical terms? Can the moon turn blue?

There are two types of Blue Moons but unfortunately neither has anything to do with color.

A seasonal Blue Moon is the traditional definition of a Blue Moon and refers to the third full moon in a season that has four full moons according to NASA. Whilst the second definition — borne out of a misunderstanding of the first — is a monthly Blue Moon which refers to the second full moon within a single calendar month. The monthly Blue Moon is nowadays considered the second definition of a Blue Moon rather than a mistake, according to Time and Date.

So when is the next blue moon?

The next monthly Blue Moon is on Aug. 30/31, 2023 according to Time and Date. The next seasonal Blue Moon will take place on Aug. 19/20, 2024.

Did you know that there are quakes on the moon's surface that are called moonquakes instead of earthquakes? And that there is water on the surface of the moon that was delivered by the celestial objects that hit it over the years? Does that mean that the moon has celestial H2O?

What's the Celestial Sphere?

The Celestial Sphere, Otherwise known as the Celestial Coordinate system in Astronomy is the abstract infringement of the Earth's Radius expanding into the universe. And on the surface of this sphere lies all of the stars visible from Earth. Its main purpose is to serve as the all-in-one navigation system for Astronomers.

Observable matter makes up less than 5% of the total mass in the whole universe. So what makes up the rest of the 95% ?

The 95% left of mass is made up of Dark Matter & Dark Energy. What are they? Where did they come from? What are they made up of? The answer is, We Don't Know yet. That's what makes this such an intriguing topic for astronomers. So what do you think they are made of? Let us know in the comments!

Have you ever wondered about & been fascinated by black holes?

What is it? -> A black hole is a region of spacetime where gravity is so strong that nothing, including light or other electromagnetic waves, has enough energy to escape its event horizon. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole.

How is it formed? -> Primordial black holes are thought to have formed in the early universe, soon after the big bang. Stellar black holes form when the center of a very massive star collapses in upon itself. This collapse also causes a supernova, or an exploding star, that blasts part of the star into space.

What happens when you fall into one? -> A jump into a black hole is a one-way trip. Black holes are regions of space where gravity is so strong that nothing can escape them, not even light. Even before you reach the event horizon – the point of no return – you would be “spaghettified” by the black hole's tidal forces.

SAARO Observers catch a large rainbow over Mirpur at 5:34PM - 19th July, 2022

Welcome to the James Webb era!

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has produced the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date. Known as Webb’s First Deep Field, this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with detail.

The image shows the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago. The combined mass of this galaxy cluster acts as a gravitational lens, magnifying much more distant galaxies behind it. Webb’s NIRCam has brought those distant galaxies into sharp focus – they have tiny, faint structures that have never been seen before, including star clusters and diffuse features. Researchers will soon begin to learn more about the galaxies’ masses, ages, histories, and compositions, as Webb seeks the earliest galaxies in the universe.
