Denim wash and effect refer to the various techniques used to treat denim fabric to achieve different looks and finishes. These techniques are applied during the manufacturing process to give denim a unique appearance and texture. Here are some common denim washes and effects:

Stonewash: This is one of the most popular denim washes. It involves washing denim with pumice stones or enzymes to achieve a faded, worn-in look. Stonewashing gives denim a softer feel and creates a vintage appearance.

Acid wash: Acid washing involves treating denim with chlorine or acid-based chemicals to lighten the color and create a mottled or streaked effect. This technique was popular in the 1980s and gives denim a highly distressed and faded appearance.

Vintage wash: A vintage wash aims to replicate the look of aged denim. It typically involves light fading, subtle distressing, and softening of the fabric to give it a well-worn, vintage aesthetic.

Whiskering: Whiskering is a technique used to create faded, horizontal lines that resemble whiskers around the crotch area of jeans. It is achieved by using sandpaper or lasers to distress the fabric.

Distressed or ripped denim: Distressed denim involves intentionally creating areas of wear and tear, such as frayed edges, holes, or ripped patches. It gives jeans a rugged and worn look.

Overdyed denim: Overdyeing is the process of applying an additional layer of dye to denim, typically in a different color. It can create interesting color variations, depth, and visual effects.

Sanded or brushed denim: This technique involves sanding or brushing the fabric's surface to create a softer, smoother feel and a slightly faded appearance.

Tinting or color-washing: Tinting or color-washing is the process of applying a thin layer of colored dye to denim to give it a subtle hue or vintage look. It is often used to create a worn or weathered effect.

These are just a few examples of the many washes and effects that can be applied to denim. Manufacturers and designers often combine different techniques or invent new ones to create unique and innovative denim finishes.

পরিবর্তিত বিশ্বব্যবস্থার সঙ্গে তাল মেলাতে বাংলাদেশের তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পের জন্য নতুন নতুন পণ্য উৎপাদন ও বাজার খুঁজে বের করতে সংশ্লিষ্টদের প্রতি আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। তিনি বলেছেন, ‘যারা পোশাক উৎপাদন এবং তা রপ্তানি নিয়ে কাজ করছেন, তাদের নতুন বাজার খুঁজতে হবে। বিভিন্ন দেশের পছন্দ ভিন্ন ভিন্ন হয়। বিষয়টি মাথায় রেখে নতুন পণ্য তৈরি করতে হবে।’

জাতীয় বস্ত্র দিবস-২০২২ উপলক্ষ্যে মঙ্গলবার রাজধানীর বঙ্গবন্ধু আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে তিনি এই আহ্বান জানান। বস্ত্র ও পাট মন্ত্রণালয় আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানে গণভবন থেকে ভার্চুয়ালি যুক্ত হন তিনি। এ সময় ছয় জেলায় ছয়টি টেক্সটাইল শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানেরও উদ্বোধন করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

তিনি বলেন, ‘ইতোমধ্যে বেসরকারি খাতে একটি ফ্যাশন ডিজাইন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। ফ্যাশন ডিজাইন খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। কোন সময়ে কোন রং ও ডিজাইন ব্যবহার হবে, কোনটির চাহিদা বেশি, এটি একটি ঘূর্ণায়মান অবস্থা এবং প্রতিনিয়ত পরিবর্তনশীল। তাই এই পরিবর্তনশীলতার সঙ্গে আমাদের তাল মিলিয়ে চলতে হবে।’

আসন্ন চতুর্থ শিল্পবিপ্লবে ডিজিটাল ডিভাইসের ব্যবহার বড় ভূমিকা রাখবে উল্লেখ করে তিনি বলেন, ‘এজন্য আমরা দেশের জনগণকে বিশেষায়িত প্রশিক্ষণের মাধ্যমে উপযুক্ত করে গড়ে তোলার পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে। দক্ষ কর্মী বাহিনী গড়ে তুলছি। বাংলাদেশের যুবসমাজ অত্যন্ত মেধাবী। তাদেরকে একটু প্রশিক্ষণ দিলেই তারা উন্নতমানের কাজ করতে পারে।

শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, দ্রুততর সেবা দেওয়ার লক্ষ্যে বস্ত্র অধিদপ্তরে ওয়ান স্টপ সার্ভিস প্রবর্তন করা হয়েছে। ই-নথির মাধ্যমে বস্ত্রশিল্পের উদ্যোক্তাদের সব ধরনের সেবা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। এর ফলে বস্ত্র ও তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পের উদ্যোক্তারা এখন সহজে এবং স্বল্প সময়ে তাদের প্রয়োজনীয় সব সেবা গ্রহণ করতে পারছেন। পাশাপাশি বস্ত্র খাতে কর্মসংস্থান বৃদ্ধির জন্য সরকার বাংলাদেশ টেক্সটাইল মিলস করপোরেশনের (বিটিএমসি) ১৬টি বন্ধ মিল পাবলিক প্রাইভেট পার্টনারশিপ পদ্ধতিতে (পিপিপি) চালুর উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করেছে।

নতুন উদ্বোধন করা ছয়টি টেক্সটাইল ইনস্টিটিউট হলো শেখ রেহানা টেক্সটাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কলেজ, গোপালগঞ্জ; শহিদ আবদুর রব সেরনিয়াবাত টেক্সটাইল ইনস্টিটিউট, গৌরনদী, বরিশাল; শহিদ কামারুজ্জামান টেক্সটাইল ইনস্টিটিউট, মান্দা, নওগাঁ; বেগম আমিনা মনসুর টেক্সটাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ইনস্টিটিউট, কাজীপুর, সিরাজগঞ্জ; ভোলা টেক্সটাইল ইনস্টিটিউট এবং শেখ রাসেল টেক্সটাইল ইনস্টিটিউট, মাদারগঞ্জ, জামালপুর।

অনুষ্ঠানে আরও বক্তব্য দেন বস্ত্র ও পাটমন্ত্রী গোলাম দস্তগীর গাজী (বীরপ্রতীক), বস্ত্র ও পাট মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিব আব্দুর রউফ, বাংলাদেশ গার্মেন্টস ম্যানুফ্যাকচারার্স অ্যান্ড এক্সপোর্টার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের (বিজিএমইএ) ভারপ্রাপ্ত সভাপতি শহীদুল্লাহ আজিম প্রমুখ।

অনুষ্ঠানে তৈরি পোশাক খাতে বিশেষ অবদানের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ ১০ ব্যক্তি ও প্রতিষ্ঠানের হাতে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর পক্ষে সম্মাননা স্মারক তুলে দেন বস্ত্র ও পাটমন্ত্রী। বর্তমান সরকারের আমলে তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পের উন্নয়নের ওপর একটি প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শিত হয় অনুষ্ঠানে।

প্রধানমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, ‘২০২২ সালে বাংলাদেশের ৪৫ দশমিক ৭০ বিলিয়ন ডলারের তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তানি হয়। সেদিক থেকে আমাদের সামগ্রিক অর্থনীতিতে একটা বিরাট অবদান রেখে যাচ্ছে তৈরি পোশাক খাত।’

পোশাকশিল্প নারীর কর্মসংস্থানে নতুন দ্বার উন্মোচন করেছে উল্লেখ করে তিনি বলেন, ‘এই শিল্প গ্রামীণ অর্থনীতিতে বিশেষ অবদান রাখছে। প্রতিটি পরিবারও আর্থিক সক্ষমতা ফিরে পাচ্ছে।’

সরকারপ্রধান বলেন, তাঁতশিল্প আমাদের ঐতিহ্য এবং আমরা এই ঐতিহ্য ধরে রাখতে চাই। কারণ বাংলাদেশের সর্ববৃহৎ কুটিরশিল্প হচ্ছে তাঁতশিল্প। দেশের অভ্যন্তরীণ বস্ত্র চাহিদার প্রায় ৪০ শতাংশ তাঁতশিল্প জোগান দিয়ে থাকে।

তিনি বলেন, ‘আমাদের সরকার তাঁতিদের প্রশিক্ষণের মাধ্যমে পেশাগত দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি, মূলধন জোগান, গুণগত মানসম্মত তাঁতবস্ত্র উৎপাদন এবং বাজারজাতকরণের সুবিধা সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে তাঁতিদের আর্থসামাজিক অবস্থার উন্নয়নে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে।’

একসময়কার বিশ্ববিখ্যাত ঢাকাই মসলিনের হৃতগৌরব ফিরিয়ে আনতে সরকারের পদক্ষেপের কথা উল্লেখ করে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, ‘প্রকল্পের আওতায় নিবিড় গবেষণার মাধ্যমে ঢাকাই মসলিন তৈরির কাঁচামাল ফুটি কার্পাস তুলা, সুতা তৈরির প্রযুক্তি ও ঢাকাই মসলিন কাপড় পুনরুদ্ধার করে হৃতগৌরব ফিরিয়ে আনা সম্ভব হয়েছে। এজন্য সংশ্লিষ্টদের ধন্যবাদ জানাই।’

পাটের জন্মরহস্য উন্মোচনে বাংলাদেশের সাফল্য তুলে ধরে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, ‘জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনজনিত কারণে বিশ্বে আবার পাট ও পাটজাত পণ্যের কদর বেড়েছে। তবে পোশাকশিল্পকে যতটা প্রণোদনা দিয়ে থাকি, সেক্ষেত্রে পাট কৃষিপণ্য হওয়া সত্ত্বেও সেই সুযোগ পাচ্ছে না। সেই সুযোগ দেওয়া একান্ত প্রয়োজন বলে মনে করি। আর পরিবেশ রক্ষার জন্য পাটজাত পণ্যের বিকল্প কিছু হতে পারে না। এর যত উৎকর্ষসাধন হবে, তত বাজারজাতকরণ সহজ হবে। আমরা এদিকেও বিশেষভাবে দৃষ্টি দিচ্ছি।’

তিনি বলেন, আমাদের সরকারের গৃহীত বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপের ফলে তৈরি পোশাক খাতে বাংলাদেশের কারখানাগুলো সবুজ কারখানার মানদণ্ডে বিশ্বে এগিয়ে আছে।

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের গ্রিন বিল্ডিং কাউন্সিলের (ইউএসজিবিসি) হিসাবমতে, শীর্ষ ১০০ গ্রিন ফ্যাক্টরির মধ্যে ৫০টিই বাংলাদেশের। ‘ইউএসজিবিসি’ থেকে লিডারশিপ ইন এনার্জি অ্যান্ড এনভায়রনমেন্টাল ডিজাইন সার্টিফিকেশনপ্রাপ্ত বাংলাদেশে সবুজ কারখানার সংখ্যা এখন ১৮৭টি। এই অর্জন আমাদের জন্য অত্যন্ত গর্বের।

প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, বৈশ্বিক অর্থনৈতিক মন্দা, যুদ্ধ ও স্যাংশনের কারণে গ্যাস, বিদ্যুৎ, পানিসহ নানা উপকরণের দাম বেড়েছে। মূল্যস্ফীতি ভীষণভাবে বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ায় একটি কঠিন অবস্থার মধ্য দিয়ে আমাদের চলতে হচ্ছে। এরপরও কঠোর মনিটরিংয়ের মাধ্যমে আমরা ব্যয় সাশ্রয়ের ব্যবস্থা নিচ্ছি। উৎপাদনশীলতা বৃদ্ধির পদক্ষেপও সরকার নিয়েছে।

ডায়াবেটিক সমিতি নেতাদের প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ : বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির (বাডাস) একটি প্রতিনিধি দল মঙ্গলবার প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার সঙ্গে গণভবনে সাক্ষাৎ করেছেন। প্রতিনিধি দলে ছিলেন বাডাস সভাপতি জাতীয় অধ্যাপক একে আজাদ খান, সহসভাপতি ডা. সারওয়ার আলী, মহাসচিব মো. সাইফ উদ্দিন, যুগ্ম মহাসচিব অধ্যাপক রশিদ-ই-মাহবুব এবং জাতীয় পরিষদের সদস্য জাতীয় অধ্যাপক ডা. মাহমুদ হাসান। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সহকারী প্রেস সচিব এমএম ইমরুল কায়েস বাসসকে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছেন।

সম্প্রতি ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ডায়াবেটিস ফেডারেশন (আইডিএফ) কর্তৃক ডায়াবেটিসের গ্লোবাল অ্যাম্বাসেডর নির্বাচিত হওয়ায় বাডাস নেতারা তাদের অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের পক্ষ থেকে প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে অভিনন্দন জানান।

তারা প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে বলেন, বাডাস সুযোগ পেলে আন্তর্জাতিকমানের চিকিৎসক ও নার্স তৈরিতে ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে এবং বিদেশে তাদের কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করতে পারে। তারা বাডাস’র অনলাইন স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কার্যক্রম ও সরকারের সহায়তায় ৩শটি ডিজিটাল স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কেন্দ্র চালু করার পাশাপাশি সেই কেন্দ্রগুলোকে সরকারের কমিউনিটি হেলথ সেন্টারের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করার উদ্যোগ সম্পর্কেও প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে অবহিত করেন। এ প্রসঙ্গে প্রধানমন্ত্রী তাদের আশ্বাস দেন যে সরকারের সংশ্লিষ্ট মন্ত্রণালয় তাদের সহায়তা দেবে। এ সময় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ব্যক্তিগত চিকিৎসক অধ্যাপক ডা. এবিএম আব্দুল্লাহ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

বাংলাদেশ ২০২১ সালে বৈশ্বিক তৈরি পোশাক রপ্তানি বাজারে আবারো দ্বিতীয় স্থান অর্জন করেছে। ২০২০ সালে ভিয়েতনাম বাংলাদেশকে তৃতীয় অবস্থানে ঠেলে দিয়ে দ্বিতীয় হয়েছিল।

বিশ্ব বাণিজ্য সংস্থার (ডব্লিউটিও) বুধবার প্রকাশিত বিশ্ব বাণিজ্য পরিসংখ্যান পর্যালোচনা-২০২২ এ দেখা যায়, বিশ্বব্যাপী তৈরি পোশাক (আরএমজি) রপ্তানিতে ভিয়েতনামের অংশ ২০২০ সালের ৬.৪০ শতাংশ থেকে ২০২১ সালে ৫.৮০ শতাংশে নেমে গেছে। বৈশ্বিক আরএমজি বাজারে বাংলাদেশের অংশ অবশ্য ২০২০ সালে ৬.৩০ শতাংশ থেকে গত বছর ৬.৪০ শতাংশে উন্নীত হয়। এ অনুপাত ২০১৯ সালে ৬.৮০ শতাংশ এবং ২০১৮ সালে ছিল ৬.৪০ শতাংশ।

ডব্লিউটিওর পরিসংখ্যান পর্যালোচনায় আরও দেখা গেছে, গত বছর বাংলাদেশ থেকে আরএমজি রপ্তানি দৃঢ়ভাবে বেড়েছে এবং বার্ষিক ২৪ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি রেকর্ড করেছে। ২০২০ সালে এই রপ্তানি একটি বড় ধাক্কার সম্মুখীন হয়েছিল এবং ভিয়েতনামের আরএমজি রপ্তানির ৭ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধির বিপরীতে বাংলাদেশে ১৭ শতাংশ হ্রাস পেয়েছিল।

বৈশ্বিক পোশাক রপ্তানি বাজারে ২০১০ সালে বাংলাদেশের অংশ ছিল ৪.২০ শতাংশ, তখন ভিয়েতনামের অংশ ছিল ২.৯০ শতাংশ। চীন ২০২০ সালে বৈশ্বিক পোশাক রপ্তানি বাজারে দেশটির অংশ ৩১.৬০ শতাংশ থেকে গত বছরে ৩২.৮০ শতাংশে উন্নীত করে প্রথম অবস্থান ধরে রেখেছে।

ডব্লিউটিওর প্রকাশনা অনুসারে ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন আরএমজির দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম বিশ্ব রপ্তানিকারক। সুতরাং প্রযুক্তিগতভাবে বাংলাদেশ তৃতীয় বৃহত্তম বিশ্ব আরএমজি রপ্তানিকারক দেশ এবং ভিয়েতনাম চতুর্থ।

ইইউর সম্মিলিত রপ্তানি পরিসংখ্যান দেশভিত্তিক আলাদা করা হলে, বাংলাদেশ এবং ভিয়েতনাম দ্বিতীয় ও তৃতীয় শীর্ষ রপ্তানিকারক হবে। তুরস্ক ও ভারত পঞ্চম এবং ষষ্ঠ অবস্থানে রয়েছে। এরপর রয়েছে মালয়েশিয়া, ইন্দোনেশিয়া, হংকং এবং পাকিস্তান।

ডব্লিউটিওর পরিসংখ্যানে আরও দেখা যায়, শীর্ষ ১০ পোশাক রপ্তানিকারকের বার্ষিক মোট রপ্তানি মূল্য দাঁড়িয়েছে ৪৬০ বিলিয়ন ডলার, যা ২০২০ সালের ৩৭৮ বিলিয়ন থেকে একটি বড় উত্থান। এ মূল্য ২০১৯ সালে ৪১১ বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার রেকর্ড করা হয়েছিল।

The UK has implemented a new trade facility called the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS). Under this, 65 developing countries of the world including Bangladesh will get the benefit of exporting products at low prices and duty-free. In a statement on June 19, the UK High Commission in Dhaka gave this information.

According to the statement, Bangladesh is expected to pass the list of least-developed countries in 2026. Due to changes brought in DCTS, even after LDC graduation, Bangladesh will be able to export 98 percent of manufactured goods including readymade garments duty-free to the UK market.

The UK's trade preferences are more liberal than those of the European Union (EU). This facility was introduced after the UK left the EU (Brexit).

DCTS will provide one of the most liberal trade facilities in the world. Which will accelerate trade expansion, employment growth and economic progress. The new scheme reflects the UK's commitment to further strengthen the long-term and reciprocal economic relationship between the UK and Bangladesh, the statement also read.

The UK High Commission in Dhaka said that the DCTS scheme will integrate the developing countries of the world and create strong trade and investment partners for the future. It will also strengthen the supply chain.

DCTS is facilitating the production of goods using materials from other countries without losing duty-free status. Under the new scheme, Bangladesh will be able to participate in the global value chain. Through which it will be possible to export the final product to the UK duty-free using raw materials from 95 countries. For this, certain conditions must be met.

UK High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke said, “DCTS will support Bangladesh's manufacturing capacity. It will also allow long-term economic growth and access to global supply chains while increasing resilience. DCTS will also benefit the UK through alternative and competitive prices for consumers.”

“This announcement reaffirms our commitment to deepening economic and trade ties and a modern and mutually beneficial partnership with Bangladesh based on global standards,” she added.

The data shows that Bangladesh is now second in the UK market and has doubled its share of the UK apparel market to more than 14% in the 11 years to 2021, while China's share has fallen from 37% to 21%. From July to May of the current financial year (2022-23) in the UK market, clothing exports from Bangladesh amounted to $4.59 billion, which is 10.77 percent of total garment exports from Bangladesh.
