Empowering Women through Goat Farming- Phase III, a collaborative project by VSF-Sweden and MLAF-Bangladesh. In 2023, 20 women received training in goat husbandry and primary health care, and after the training, each trained woman received one female goat. The project's objective is to provide an income-generating option for poor, marginalized, and socially deprived women.

Dr Salma Sultana named in Asian Scientist 100 list Veterinarian Dr Salma Sultana from Bangladesh has made it to the Asian Scientist 100 list of Asian Scientist Magazine, for her work surrounding Model Livestock Advancement Foundation. Her efforts were highlighted in the sixth edition of the list recently.

Dr Salma Sultana bags the 2020 Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application Veterinarian Dr Salma Sultana was honoured with the 2020 Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application from World Food Prize Foundation (WFPF). The ceremony was held virtually on October 13, 2020.

These achievements have not been easily won. As a woman in a male-dominated field operating in situations with less than adequate resources, Sultana has encountered numerous obstacles, shown great persistence and innovation and demonstrated exemplary accomplishment in her efforts to overcome the food security challenges in her country.

The wide variety of efforts championed by Sultana, from veterinary care and research to farmer outreach and public education, have enjoyed immense success and improved the lives of thousands of individuals through employment, empowerment and improved nutrition.

Dr. Sultana’s passion for veterinary medicine led her to Chittagong Veterinary & Animal Sciences University in Bangladesh, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and a master’s degree in pharmacology in 2014, one of the few women to do so.

Congratulations to the 2020 Borlaug Field Award Recipient Dr. Salma Sultana, Founder and Chairman of the Model Livestock Advancement Foundation. She is recognized for her innovative model for providing veterinary outreach, treatment and education to thousands of small-scale farmers in Bangladesh.
