Thank you The Lo-Down NY for reporting on our tree fall in the park.
“We were sorry to see another large tree had come crashing down in the storm a few nights ago. The tree was on the southern edge of Seward Park and fell onto East Broadway. There was still a lot of clean up to be done as of this morning.“

After the storm this week, we sadly lost one of our beautiful Siberian Elm trees, estimated to be 90 years old.
Tree cover is crucial for our park, especially in providing shade during these hot summer months. To keep Seward Park a flourishing greenspace and combat tree loss, we planted 40+ new trees this spring!
Please consider supporting us to continue our efforts to replace trees and flora in Seward Park — for future generations of park-goers and pollinators! Donate today: https://sewardparkconservancy.salsalabs.org/.../index.html

Help the Seward Park guinea pigs find their forever home!
After an exciting week in the wild, the guinea pigs are enjoying some calming time and delicious snacks with our board member Bridget as they await their permanent residence.
If you are interested in providing a lifelong home for these adorable pets, please send us a DM or email us at [email protected]!
The Seward Park guinea pig is now safe and sound, warming up at home after a few days in the wild! Thank you to everyone who helped in this process — it was so wonderful to see our community unite around such a cute mascot!
It seems our guinea pig friend was enjoying his time in the Pollinator Meadow and did not want to leave. It took our board member Bridget Bosworth about an hour of waiting and some guinea pig sounds from her phone for him to finally walk into the cage so he could be safely removed.
We have been closely monitoring the situation and have not seen the second guinea pig in a few days. If you are in the park and see another guinea pig, please let us know immediately by dming our account. We will head back out with our trap to safely remove him.
Calling all small animal trapping and rescue experts — we need your help!
Two guinea pigs have been abandoned in our garden and we need your help safely removing them. PLEASE DM us if you are an expert!
In the meantime, please DO NOT feed them or enter the fenced garden without a member of SPC. You risk attracting predators to their location and harming other important animal life.
The Seward Park ping-pong table was recently named the "greatest place in all of New York City" by Hell Gate NYC journalist Esther Wang!
"In a city that increasingly feels inhospitable to the idea of sociality, and where any remaining vestige of the public good is being whittled down budget cut by budget cut, the Seward Park ping-pong table is a reminder of what the city could be."

AsAmNews journalist Kathy Ou recently was recognized in the student category for excellence in storytelling by the Asian American Journalist Association for her audio story about Chinese seniors and youth finding community through ping-pong in Seward Park.
“Ou’s piece introduces us to an eclectic group of people who gather in a public park in lower Manhattan to play ping pong. The variety of voices and sounds, coupled with Ou’s excellent narration, makes listeners feel deeply immersed in the scene,” wrote the judges.

Thank you New York Magazine for featuring Seward Park in your article, "On Patrol With the Rat Czar."

Last week, a parkgoer spotted two yellow-bellied sapsuckers chirping to each other in the trees of Seward Park.
As seen in the next image, they are often identified by red coloration on their heads, yellow tinged bellies, and their beautiful feather pattern that camouflages them well in our park.
