Bank Asia has achieved the “𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿” in 22nd ICAB National Award and awarded 1st Prize in all three categories – Private Sector Banks, Corporate Governance Disclosures & Integrated Reporting – for Best Presented Annual Reports 2021.

Mr. Adil Chowdhury, President & Managing Director and Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil FCA, CFO of the Bank, received the trophy from Mr. Tipu Munshi, Hon'ble Commerce Minister of Bangladesh on December 03, 2022, at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka.

Mr. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Shahadat Hossain, President of the ICAB and Mr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Deputy Managing Directors of Bank Asia were present at the event.

Bank Asia has launched country’s first Women ATM booth at Sonakanda in Keranigonj, outskirt of capital city Dhaka, aiming to encourage females’ access to digital transactions and improve financial management.

Mr. Adil Chowdhury, President & Managing Director (CC), of Bank Asia inaugurated the ATM booth at the premise of Bank Asia DPO Agent Outlet at Sonakandaon recently.

Inaugurating the program, Mr. Adil Chowdhury said that we are committed to bring more unbanked people into the banking network to help achieve sustainable economic development through boosting financial inclusion across the country.

He also said Bank Asia has been working relentlessly to provide services to all segments of society, including rural masses and marginalized people living in the remotest parts of Bangladesh.

Mr. Chowdhury expressed his optimism that the new Women ATM booth would play a pivotal role in encouraging women segment to digital banking transaction.

Later, the President & Managing Director inaugurated a Women Corner inside Sonakanda Agent Outlet.

Mr. Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, Deputy Managing Director of Bank Asia and Mr. Jason Lamb, Deputy Director and Ms. Snigdha Ali, Senior Program Officer of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation were present.

"The Women ATM is the first of its kind initiative in Bangladesh as well as in the world probably. I never saw it before," Mr. Jason Lamb explained.

The program turned into a festive mood in the presence of a huge number of female clients and locals.

Bank Asia with support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation set up the Women ATM aiming to facilitate financial inclusion activities through reinforcing women empowerment in Bangladesh with a two-year grant based digital financial inclusion project.

Under the same project three more Women ATMs have started operation from Tuesday at Begum Badrunnesa Govt. Girls' College, Kodomtola and Paris Road City Digital Center Agent Outlets in Dhaka city to encourage women clients.

Besides, another six women ATMs will be set up in different places of the country under the project.

Bank Asia awards certificates after training course The 59th Foundation Training Course for the business officers of Channel Banking Division of Bank Asia has been completed recently.

Bank Asia organized an awareness training on ‘The Challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4.0 IR) in Bankʼ for the Senior Management & Senior Level Executives aimed to adopt the new technology and mitigate the challenges in efficient & secured way. Mr. Adil Chowdhury, President and Managing Director (CC) of the bank inaugurated the day-long program held at Bank Asia Institute for Training and Development (BAITD), Lalmatia, Dhaka, under the supervision of Bank Asia InfoSec Team, ICT Division recently. Mr. Mohammed Ishaque Miah, System Manager (Director), Bangladesh Bank, was the Special Guest of the training session. Mr. S. M. Tofayel Ahmad, Joint Director, Bangladesh Bank, and Mr. Golam Md. Bhuyian, Deputy Secretary, a2i, were the Key Note Speakers. Mr. Md Sazzad Hossain, DMD & COO, Mr. Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Mollah and Mr. SM Iqbal Hossain, DMDs along with other 50 high officials joined the session physically and around 600 executives from different levels joined virtually.

Mr. Romo Rouf Chowdhury has been elected as Chairman of Bank Asia Ltd., in the 479th meeting of the Board of Directors of the bank held on 25 August 2022. Before being elected as the Chairman, he was one of the Vice-Chairmen of the bank.

Mr. Romo Rouf Chowdhury is one of the Sponsor Shareholders as well as Sponsor Directors of Bank Asia Ltd. He is a graduate in Engineering from Durham University, United Kingdom. He has more than 30 years of experience as an industrialist. He is one of the successful young entrepreneurs of the country.

Currently, Mr. Chowdhury holds the position of Chairman of Rancon Group. Rancon Group has more than 30 subsidiaries, a few of which are Rancon Motorbikes Ltd., Rancon Motors Ltd., Rangs Ltd., Rangs Properties Ltd., Rancon Automobiles Ltd., Rancon Oceana Ltd., Rancon Sea Fishing Ltd. and Rancon Electronics Ltd.

Bank Asia Organized a day long training (Offline as well as online) on “Prevention of Fake Note” for its Cash Officers and GB In-charge of branches which was held on 28 May 2022 at Bank Asia Institute for Training & Development (BAITD), Lalmatia, Dhaka. Mr. Adil Chowdhury, Additional Managing Director of the Bank joined online and inaugurated the program. Mr. Hasan Tareq Khan, DGM, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, conducted two (2) sessions on identification of Fake Note. Mr. B M Shahidul Haque, Head of BAITD, Mr. Mazibur Rahman, Manager Operations of Principal Office Branch, Mr. Subir Kumar Chowdhury, Head of Branch Operations Division and Ms. Krishna Saha, Head of Lalmatia Branch were present at the program. Around 50 participants were present physically and more than 500 participants joined the training program online.

Bank Asia has been awarded ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by Bangladesh Bank for its significant disbursement of stimulus loan under special refinancing scheme of Tk. 5,000 crore in Agriculture sector on Wednesday, 18 May 2022.

Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia Ltd received the certificate from Mr. Fazle Kabir, Governor of Bangladesh Bank. The bank disbursed the loans to 3,285 farmers under the scheme during FY 2020-21.

Bank Asia has signed an agreement with Southeast University, Bangladesh (SEU) to provide student support loan for the Honors and Masters level students. Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director, Bank Asia Ltd., and Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Southeast University signed on the agreement from their respective sides in a signing ceremony which was held at Board room of SEU recently.

Bank Asia is offering Student Support Loan (SSL) facility to the students in order to cater their financial needs to pursue higher education in Bangladesh or abroad. This one-of-a-kind service offers students to start the payback of their loan after an extended period of time.
