“Ancestors live in our lands”
Ziza also known as Soberana Ziza has been researching the memory of black women in the city of São Paulo. They are represented by important characters of the city and they are shown connected to the land by roots.
"It's the reconnection with our ancestors. This knowledge is a root that will be a strength for the future.'
Ziza was born and raised in the North side of Sao Paulo, Brazil, a place known for an important settlement of the post-abolition period and a sociocultural presence of black people. The artist has been presenting her works in the streets and cultural spaces of São Paulo for over a decade.
Besides murals, she works with paintings in various media such as transparencies,
prints, artistic cartography, highlighting to society the contributions of black ancestors to the construction of the history of São Paulo.
Come and see some of Ziza’s works in the ‘House of Yes’ on April 10th , 2022.

“Art is my Religion. My Body is my Temple. Painting is my Salvation”
Célio began his trajectory in Street Art in 2004 in the city of Guarulhos, São Paulo, exploring the language of letters in graffiti art. In 2016, in search of finding himself as an artist, Célio began to explore the Color Field – a style of abstract painting that emerged in New York in the 40s and 50s, where color breaks free from the objective context and becomes the subject in itself.
Célio is also the creator and curator of the Project “Voltando as Aulas” (Returning to School) has painted more than 50 schools in Brazil with more than 200 collaborating artists.
Inner peace
“The power that art has to calm us down and to soothe us”. This is how Célio offers us the work Inner Peace (Paz Interior). Made during the pandemic period where the world had to stop, Célio goes directly in search of a deeper connection with himself in the face of global chaos. Using spray and acrylic paint, he reminds us of what he calls contemporary organicity: the organic vibrations of colors and what they represent in his art - the human being.
Inner Peace, Isolation of a Free Spirit and Lung are some of the works made during the Pandemic. The sale of these art will benefit the project “Voltando a Escola”.
Come and see some of Célio’s works in the ‘House of Yes’ on April 10th , 2022.

Rita Ximenes’ artistic identity is derived from the fauna and flora of the Brazilian Pantanal (Everglades-like area in Florida). Her paintings address the issues of the adverse change in the Pantanal such as the fish that are much smaller than they used to be a few years ago and the recent and massive fires in the area.
Born in Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil) and residing in Cuiabá since the age of two, Rita has a degree in teaching and artistic education, with a specialty in Fine Arts. She also works with Batik (Indonesia), Block Print, Repetition (Rapport or Chita), and woodcut.
“Salute to the Environment in The Pantanal” is an acrylic on canvas that shows the Pantanal is a place of wondrous beauty filled with a great strength!
Come and see some of Rita Ximenes’ works in the ‘House of Yes’ on April 10th , 2022.
