A platform to show what we did, do and will do to the bikes like parts, mods or trackdays. Mind you, we are just amateurs , not pro's.
Not at riding, not at wrenching and not at tuning.
Well... totally forgot I had these lying around for quite a while now. So I got it finally installed. It adds a little weight, but it also makes a tirechange more easy.
Shozo Kawasaki! The man, the legend π . He started it all in 1878. He would never know the existence of the zx7r, but in some way... we have to thank him for it. Some people think it's my grandpa on the wall, funny because I have zero asian roots.. but it's a great photo to start a story about Kawasaki. Do you guy's have weird pictures on your garagewalls?
Got the bike inside before winter. Inside is better than that cold garage. And I get to see it every day now π. That makes 2 bikes in the house! My old Yamaha XS650 en the zx7r π€£π€£. Thank god I have a great girlfriend π. Am I the only nutcase? Or do you also get your bikes inside?
The TMP website is online!
We will explain our thoughts and modifications on this platform. It gives us more room to write about it than on social media.
Check it out: www.team-moneypit.be
We also got our first video out! Still in dutch/flemish 'cause I have to work on my 'matroesjka-english'. I could record it in english, but I would sound 'gelak De Ray van Mechelen in the separΓ©'. So in the future we will post a video in english, just give us some time :)
It's our first video, so the sound and quality is not great.Go easy on me, I will get it better next time!

When you spot us on the track, come and say hello! Always cool to meet some 7 enthousiasts! We have a cold one in the fridge and ask for a TMP bottleopener to stay hydrated!
We had a great day Circuit de Mettet - Jules Tacheny with Inter-Track Rain... but also a lot of sun! Thx for the awesome 'grow a π' sticker. A friendly reminder to myself to use my throttle! We ended the day Burger King. An obliged pitstop!
Remember that short bolt on the suspension? Ordered some titanium bolts but 1 came in a bit short. So I had to use the OEM one for that. Finally found a titanium bolt with the right length! Much better!
Got them! Order time!
Good news !
Wet sessions , first time. Very bizar to do a kneedown in the rain. Rode around like a cat walking between sleeping dogs. After a few laps the feeling got much better and fun and speed kicked in. Popped our rain cherry and glad we did. No surprises next time. Just pop on the wets and gas it!!
Thank you Mr. Edge, the racing chatbot guy for making average riders look fast ππ€π»
Mettet trackday with the green machines again. It was special.
The red belly 4 did ok while riding but at stand still I noticed the clutch was a bit grabby, it pulled when fully engaged. Was ok when on track although a bit stiffer to change gears. Had this problem with the slipper clutch stack kit ( but way harder then). Bled the clutch master cylinder but there was no air or dirt to see. And no difference. Well, something to look at in the coming weeks. Then the number 4 bike. My buddy got out on it ( remember the worn headstock bearings? Replaced them so thought it was all good ) and came back in pretty soon. I Thought I failed my little headstock task but it moved well enough. He told me about a really querky feeling, very unstable when off the gas or going from braking to giving it some throttle. So out Iwent in his group on his bike. And how right can you be! When on heavy braking or winding it up or full throttle the bike was "ok". But on shut throttle as unstable as fowk. So we stared thinking about what could we wrong. We changed the frame , was it bent or deformed? A fork leg crapped?
Dozens of ideas whent through our mind. Then we started measuring his bike and mine. And we saw how much this bike was put " on the nose" it was jacked up so high. The difference was about 3 cm, and I (not knowing this before) dropped it a bit through the jokes like mine to make it turn a bit easier.π
So we lowered the back a bit, and more , and a bit more, till It did what a 7 is known for: be stable all the time.
Noticed a little shatter from the front too. Maybe the bearing should be tighten a ittle bit more or the discs he slapped on were actually warped. we'll see.
First time on wet tyres too which was fun, so much grip. crazy. Glad to have that wet part over and done with so next time I'll know what to expect.
Few pics of the day. And we were allowed to take pics ( after the day was done) in the pitlane. Thanks to my friend's girl we got some great shots with good lichting and colour. π
All in all a good day! Still work to do though, it will probably never end ...
Late night wrenching at the HQ. Troubles with the headstock bearing. Needs to be ready for the 4th of July. For another trackday Circuit de Mettet - Jules Tacheny
Nothing better at the end of a day then looking at you well cleaned work space...to mess it up again in a few days. We love the HQ!
Anybody else that gets depressed when looking at all the crap, boxes, tools and all the s**t you throw in your garage after a track day? F**k me, it's like coming back from a 2 weeks vacation....should've taken a picture, it was horrible π .
After a long time, we got back on track! Arrived the evening before as usual and thought hmm ,change to slicks now or tomorrow morning? So glad we changed them at that time because I discovered the discs on the set I mounted the slicks on were warped , damned!! Bought them a while ago but never tested them before. Stupid mistake to make. So took the NG discs I used on my wheels with the Dunlop TT's on it. Which is also better cause the brake pads are already worn in from new on those discs. So, problem fixed. Wet as if I took a shower from sweating, so hot and damp there. After a very short night we rose and shined like zombies π.
Got the technical check up done, collected the track day number and all the briefing stuff. Let's get it on!
First time on slicks, our welder ( way faster guy) explained the do's and don'ts and gave me a pressure and temp chart that helped a lot.
And those slicks (Dunlop GP Racer Slicks D212 ) are the dog's bo****ks. That grip is gigantic. A bit overkill for my skills but you can feel the rubber just bite the tarmac through your bars and feet. Awesome feeling.
By that time we discovered that on the green #4 bike the head stock bearing were not ok. The looked ok when changing frames but apparently the were not. Another stupid mistake not to switch them for new ones. But it's always rush rush rush in our busy lives so that's what you get in the end. No point of trying to fix that on the spot so we both rode the red belly #4 bike instead. I have full confidence in my mate's skills not to crash it.
We ended up having a great day although it was so bloody hot.
What I noticed today on the bike was:
The weight loss, shortening the gearing and the full system with some other mods work veey well. It's crisp on the throttle but also smooth, still not what you call super fast but it goes well for a 23 year old bike. Could keep up and pass on slipstream a prepped modern CBR600RR. I did have to get well out of the last corner and get a good drive out on the straight.
It goes from side to side way easier than before. Still a bike you have to be a bit physical with getting it turned in to a corner on the brakes but it's not bad at all.
Slicks are the s**t and i will probably stick to them for the rest of my life.
The Brembo master cylinder RCS19 was the s**t and still is. No fading, just tons of instant braking power at the tip of 1 or two fingers.
The gilles rearsets are top notch. changing gears is so more direct, no play at all just precise changing up and down. Great stuff.
So thanks to my buddy for a great day, got to know 2 other cool guys and like every track day it ended up with "the best shower in the world" when I got home.
Also big thanks to for another perfectly organized track day. And let's not forget a well earned high five to for filling our worn out bodies with those tasty burgers on the way home !
Not a lot of pics or movies cause we were just busy riding or taking the #4 apart π.
Back in Mettet on the fourth of july ! Let's not end up in wheel chair shouting 1-2-3-4 we don't want your fu***ng war! Cause that would make no sense at all, although we would look killer with some 60's p**n-staches !
The other idiot is ready too....never enough s**t can be loaded for a track day! Looks like it's going to be a wet one, hate it! But we have wets so better learn fast....
I think we're ready for our trackday this thursday in Mettet
I noticed my fuel line was worn out. It was leaking fuel all over!
This only happens 2 days before a trackday πππ
So big thank you Dennis from Trax Racing
He quickly helped me out with a new high quality fuel line.
Check out www.traxracing.com
if you need some fuel or brake lines/fittings
Bike is back together 100% and took it out for a late evening blast. Everything seems perfect. The Gilles Tooling rearsets are awesome, good grip and perfect gear changes, zero play, way better. Got the position perfect the first time so pretty happy about that. Was a bit worried about the Lith battery and running time so stole my son's watch and timed a 25mins blast like 1 stint on track and stopped to check. My battery app tells I have 82% left so couldn't be happier. Can easely pull 3 stints before recharging. Great! And took my friend's last piece of green p**n tube as a brake fluid reservoir...he didn't think to get away with only him having those, did he...π
Up to Mettet track the 17th and the 4th for blasting time with Intertrack. Maybe see you there?
Santa came early ! ( that's what Mss Claus told me...). Was dreaming of fancy adjustable rearsets for some time. Nobody makes them except some Chinese stuff I wouldn't put on my bike anyways. So at some point Gilles started making them I guess not long ago. Happy days!
Except for one thing...they come in anodized black (or I did not see you could get them blanc...dunno ). So bought that heavy stuff to declogg toilets, took the sets apart and flogged it all in for about 5 to 10 mins. The liquid product turns into thick foam after sizzling a bit, no worries.
Never forget to put in goggles, long sleeves and rubber gloves (latex from your special basement will do too...). Don't do that crap in your garage please, it smells bad and is very toxic.
So after I took the parts out and plunged them into a hot water bucket and I could just wipe away about 90% of the black anodized layer. After that the parts seemed to darken again, it's normal. Just do a bit of sweating with a Scotch Brite afterwards and you're home a winner ! Love those rear sets!! Can't wait to try them out on track!
Only thing is that I used to kinda know when I was scraping the pegs, even at 180 that I was on a comfortable limit. Now the pegs are higher and no more hero blobs so I wonder how I am going to find that comfy limit again without first crossing it πππ.
Take care Greenies!
The #4 bike is getting his upgrades.
New frame with papers and without framerubbers π
Zxr 750 J swingarm
Zx6r rims front and rear
Lightweight rear caliper
Samco radiator hoses
New radiator, the old one was really scruffy
Titanium bolts for the engine, frame, suspension, radiator,linksystem,....
Oberon clutchpump
520 chainset and lighter sprockets
New raceloom and an ignitech ECU
Quickshifter
Lifepo4 batterij and lightweight batteryholder
Adjustable rearsets
Lightweight dogbones
And new oil π
Did not go as planned... rearbrake pump is dead, had to drill out a bolt on the frontfender.
And that rearset demanded some special attention! Glad that my buddy has 2 golden hands and figured it out!
The bike did not run at the end of the day. But a lot of work was done! Thx Phil!
Need to chexk the ignitech and the raceloom for the next startup
Today and tomorrow we will be crafting the other frame to the #4 bike along with some other s**t and gadgets. I will leave the details to my team mate, he will list it up. So long story short he has the #2 bike with nice extra's on and the #4 bike. The 4 will get all the best parts grafted on tomorrow. We hope it will all work out and that HQ will not burn down in the process. This is a pic after stripping the 4 bike on the work table. It looks like a complete mess but it is rather tidy and sorted at this moment. It's just a bit overloaded. We love it.
I can see the finish in the far distance ...
Trying out the small recuperator bottle and fixed the temp gauge problem. Like in ...I had none... ( ground wire was completely black, corroded ...) wired the thermostat housing to the frame. It works. And did a better job getting all the air out of the cooling system ( took my time for once, thank you honey ! )
Put the fan in front ( thanks for the sneeky pic ,babe π) just to see what happened when getting hot and the temp went down a bit and stayed steady then. Just for fun.nice.
Put my leathers on and thought to try it out a bit. Aaaaaaaand? Shifting didn't go well at all...CRAP!! It shifted perfectly before and after the 4 times 2.3 and 3 times 2.0 plate conversion it doesn't want to anymore....bizar.
So AGAIN opened up the clutch to check it out.
Amount of plates...check
Right order...check
Well oiled...check
No broken springs...check
Last plate in the right slot ...check
Wtf!
Took off the clutch master cylinder to overhaul, bit of crap in it, nothing major. The circlips didn't want to open up again to slot in so I'll order a new one.
Saw that if ingaged the clutch stack didn't open up as far on top than it did on the bottom.
Took the stack out, nothing wrong (all new btw..) so I had some hammering marks on the slots of the basket. Not much but maybe it could be just enough to restrain the movement some plates at that spot. So filed it back even with care.
Ow and asked this question in the ZX7 owners group cause I couldn't find it but found it in the end..( never give up) the clutch posts torque is 25Nm and the spring bolts are 8.8Nm .
Now up , getting the new circlips in and see what happens with the stack when engaged. If they all open up evenly it's problem solved. If not I will open up the fuel tank and drop my Zippo in it and start fishing as a hobby....
Got the red belly back from the welding wizard! Top notch work as always. So contact on aaaaaaaand....nothing! Battery check on my app ( yes sir , I can read the status on my phone! Can't work a computer but can read that s**t on my cell ....that's a start.) Well it's at 95% so WTF. Oh yeah, forgot to connect the engition switch...oh boy. Well fired up at the spot. Sounds pretty sweet and feels like it revs more freely with the Hindle headers. But then again, I havent revved it for months so could just be in my head.
Letting it idle for some time and the temp gauge showing the water is still cool I go inside and when I get back out it just starts to puke out some coolant. Should 've have it idle with the cap off first to get rid of the air. Next time I will not start working on a bike when I don't really have the time to. You make mistakes when in a hurry.
So found out I connected the ground wire wrongly on the thermostat housing. Fu***ng idiot. Again when in a hurry...don't. Sorted that out with Mr Parts Manager .
Then a cool guy with eagle eyes spotted on our "gram" account ( using the term "gram" instead of Instagram is supposed to sound cool and hip...but I'm told I'm a boomer whatever that means so I must hate todays youth and will never understand them and I am old and smell like moth balls too I guess ).
Had to drain the oil to correct my clutch mistake. The last plate you put in must be in an altered position. Again...done too fast..tik-tok..kids...school...etc...) and what do I see ?? Pieces of hard rubber in the oil recipient. Well well...that the good old cam chain guide in the valve cover gone. So take that off and grind the holding pins away. 30gr saved in the proces.
Took the belly pan off too and in the oil sucker ( sounds better ) I can clearly see more of the crap caught.
So now ordered some new stuff to put it all back together. Lesson well learned.
Oh boy...
Buy a 7 they said...it will be fun they said...
Never give up!
Track days comming up at Mettet on 17th of June and 4th of July ! 1-2-3-4 we don't want your fu***ng war !! Good movie that 4th of July...
Naaaah...only joking,we got the red belly 7 running again so absolutely stoked about that! Mr Partsmanager-San did some wirering and we (he.....credits are due) noticed my bike has some anti-theft device which makes the ignition switch run on 6V and the ECU run on 6V. So if some as***le would try to hotwire my bike the signal would reach your ECU being a 12V instead of a 6V as required and the bike would not start. Clever. ( If I'm wrong correct me , he knows this s**t, I just follow like Jezus' discipels...). A problem he said that could be solved wih that Ignitech stuff and then I might as wel do the quick shifter conversion. So as a good zombie Homer i said " Hmmmmmmmm quick shifteeeeer ....." so he ordered the stuff.
Can't wait to see him sweat his balls off getting all that s**t done I don't understand! π
We solved the noise problem on any track! Just make the muffler higher than that db-measuring pole! Easy!
The stick coil conversion will save another 0,5 kilo. My girlfriend said: "change the name of Team Moneypit to Team Scale, you guy's are insane"
First trackday will be in 2 months! Still got some work to do....
Today was a good day! Made some time at work to work a bit on the red belly 7. Got the 520 chain conversion done, sorted the clutch out with that Kawasaki slipperthingy adjustment with differen plates, changed the oil and filter , and put fresh Motul 600 racing oil on the brakes. ( never forget to use high grade mineral DOT in your Brembo stuff or it will eat the pump right up! No Motul 5.1 or so in it or other non mineral brands. Made that mistake ones and ran out of brakes at the end of the straight on track...not cool )
Put a smaller catch bottle on for the radiator overflow. Not happy how the tubes run so will arrange that later.
Oh yeah and another 300gr shaved off by tossing that rubber flubber disc on the inside of the clutch cover in the bin.
Got some super fresh rain rubber from a friend and will put those on an extra pair of wheels I knocked off my...well..team buddy ππ. Thanks f**ker!!π€π»
So I will end up with a rain set, Dunlop TT set and another pair with slicks.π Well..you might just drop dead tomorrow so better have fun.
The bike itself is back together for about 80% now. No timelaps this time. Too much things to do in real life.
We had ,until now, no serious issues with rebuilding it. Still have to figure out a few things left and right though. Mr Parts Manager Team Bud is sorting out some race wirering for both the bikes but they are not identical, so, work to do! I'll be glad that hump of wires are gone, horrible to watch that crap hang all over the place knowing more than half of it can be flogged...
The Hindle headers are well made, very light and smooth mounting...untill they touch the underside of the crank case. But no worries...our Welder wizard will adjust that when he magics on the Akra muffler.
They were about 340 dollars on their site few months ago, well worth it. But we'll see on the Dyno.
The Chinese radiator was not bad, bit of munching around to bolt it on but nothing too serious. But it was that bit different in angle enough to slightly twist the fan housing making one of the 4 fan blades scrape the back of it. I do have some deformed blades on it from the heat. So to correct that I threw the fan out, again weight saved! And still having a standard engine will not give any problems on track. They don't heat up that fast. With other plastics and parts gone above the engine the air (cooling) flow is also much better now.
Perfect wall p**n for HQ!! signed Akira cards!! Stoked!!
So ....headers just came in ! Ordered them at Hindle few months ago, and I 'll have them paired with my Akrapovic muffler.
Glad to see the heavier Kerker headers go to be honest , and they worked only ar top revs and pretty much killed the lower mid-range a bit. As I am not Akira or Walker I like a bit of more range on track. They will go on the red belly 7.
Stock exhaust ( thank you for informing me in the 7 track build group, Glenn ) should be 10.5kilos
Hindle headers 2.18 kilo
Kerker headers 3.6 kilo
Akra muffler 2.65 kilo
Weight save : 10.8 - 4.83 = 5.97kilos , whopping! So happy!
Only few questions remain:
How well will it fit?
What will the result be of this 4-2-1 system?
Was it worth the 3 months waiting for it to be made and after that the 3 fu***ng months it took the postal service to get it from Texas to me....?
Credits due to Hindle Canada for a perfect service and up to date mailing regarding my order and sending it to my buddy in Texas. Also big thanks to Woodcraft Technologies for informing me about it all and being the middle man between the US and Canada ,perfect service there again. And big thanks to my bud ,Mike, who shipped it for me and put in a signed Josh Herrin cap!! How cool is that!
The installation manual says to warm it up first before riding it so picture to prove I'm on it!
