Havanese dog ❤️🐕

The Havanese is a descendent of the barbichon family of dogs, which in turn descend from the barbet, a large water dog behind the Poodle. The barbichon family was centered around the Mediterranean.

Spanish traders brought some of these dogs with them when they traveled, giving them to Cuban women.

The dogs became pampered pets in Cuba, especially favored with the upper class. They became known as the Habenero.

Eventually some of these dogs were brought back to Europe, where they were called white Cubans. Here they became popular both as pets and as performing dogs.

Their popularity as pets waned, and their numbers dwindled, but they remained popular as trick performers in the circus.

The AKC recognized the Havanese in 1999.

English Cockers are eager to please and like to be close to their families. But they are hunting dogs and might start chasing birds or small animals when outside. Be sure to keep your English Cocker on a leash whenever you aren't in a fenced area. Teach him to come to you when you call.

▪️Cockers have a "soft" personality. Harsh training methods may make them fearful or shut down altogether. Be sure to use gentle, consistent training to get the best results.

▪️If your English Cocker doesn't get enough exercise, he may become obese and destructive.

▪️An English Cocker Spaniel's long ears are susceptible to ear infections.

Miniature poodle 🐩

The original Poodle is the Standard Poodle - who was a water retrieving dog so this is a breed who was always very much a worker. The Miniature Poodle was created as a smaller version of the original Poodle for owners who didn’t want such a large dog but were enchanted by their personalities and enthusiasm for all kinds of work. The major influencers in this desire for a smaller Poodle were circuses - who were using this highly intelligent, easy to train, friendly and even comical dog in their shows with great success but found the Standard Poodles just a bit too big.
Up until 1907, the Miniature Poodle was called the Toy Poodle but as even smaller versions of the breed were becoming popular due to selective breeding, these smaller dogs became known as Toys.

Miniature Schnauzer 🐕‍🦺❤️

Miniature Schnauzers were originally bred to be ratters and guard dogs on farms. They were developed in the mid-to-late 19th century in Germany by crossbreeding the Standard Schnauzer with smaller breeds, such as the Miniature Pinscher, Affenpinscher, and perhaps the Poodle or Pomeranian. In Germany, he's known as the Zwergschnauzer (zwerg means "dwarf").

There aren't any records on how the Miniature Schnauzer was developed, but it's clear the intent was to create a smaller version of the well-established Standard Schnauzer. World Wars I and II were hard on dog breeding, particularly in Europe, where some breeds were nearly lost. But interest in Miniature Schnauzers boomed after WWI, and the dog's popularity has never waned since.

WHY WESTIE’S ARE WHITE? 🧐

The West Highland White Terrier shares a history with that of the Dandie Dinmont, Skye, Scottish, and Cairn Terriers; they are all considered branches of the same breed. The West Highland White Terrier originated in Scotland and was used for hunting fox, badger, and otter and for killing vermin such as rats.

According to breed lore, the Westie's white color resulted from a tragic nineteenth-century accident that occurred while Colonel Malcolm of Poltalloch was hunting fox. The colonel accidentally shot and killed one of his wheaten-colored Cairns. Devastated, and determined to prevent such accidents in the future, he decided to breed only white dogs that couldn't be confused with foxes.

The West Highland White Terrier has been known by many names, including the Poltalloch Terrier and the Roseneath Terrier, but he was officially recognized by the Kennel Club of England as the West Highland White Terrier in 1906.

Historically, Poodles have come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors.
Because of their bloodlines, standard working Poodles all had purely functional cuts. I’m sure at some point or another we have all seen the traditional haircut for poodles.

When this gun dog was first bred, they used to swim and fetch prey. Their dense, curly coats would get soaked and weigh them down.

Consequently, their owners would shave on their whole bodies (apart from on their joints to encourage insulation). These trims slowly worked their way from the working line (i.e. traditional gun dogs) to the fashion ring.

Over time, Poodle cuts have become a fashion trend amongst high-society and famous-owners. They have been clipped in ways so that their coats match fashion trends during that era.

Intelligent, outgoing, and confident, the Airedale Terrier possesses a wonderful playful streak that delights their humans.
