With all engineers working most of the times remote, it's important to share tips & tricks of all these cutting-edge technologies with each other. Today, during lunch time Ivo shared his insights with the rest of on PKI and why non-functional requirements matter.

Lessons Learned? Implementing public key infrastructure (PKI) can be a complex & risky endeavor if not done properly:
🔒 Treat PKI as a specialised security function, not just another IT component. It requires dedicated expertise & controls.
🚫 Avoid DIY PKI using tools like OpenSSL - the complexity can lead to dangerous vulnerabilities. Leverage existing solutions instead.
🔍 Limit the scope of certificates to minimise potential damage in a breach. Avoid installing root certs on all user devices.
🔍 Consider public PKI providers, but be aware of certificate transparency exposing internal infrastructure.
🔐 Establish robust physical and procedural controls for the root certificate authority to prevent unauthorised access.
