I just received the heartbreaking news Patty Waters passed away on June 29, peacefully at her home in Santa Cruz. It was such an honour to work with her and release her album 'You Loved Me'. A true legend and lovely lady is gone. What a loss. Rest in power.

Picture a clandestine meeting in 1984 between Mark Hollis of Talk Talk, a sleepwalking Kate Bush and Enya on expired l*d. In a wooden shed in the secret corners of Bokrijk. Drinking absinthe and recording an album using Suzanne Ciani’s synths and a treasured mid 18th century French horn. A sonic fever dream directed by David Cronenberg.

In the confusing, weird and brutal year 2023 I had the crazy idea to release 8 vinyl records on my label.

Syncopating their brainfog, desire of escapism and honesty to unheard sounds and avant club vibes, channeling their way to cope with tinnitus and the world in an ultra personal modular deep listening record, translating the love for their dog in an experimental and intimate kind of pop album, breezing sea and melancholic beach post rock electronica, squeezing the Sponge Bob spirit into Belgian jazz, sludging about Boterhammen and ripping everything up, unearthing industrial subliminal messages blending in with tribal acid or cutting up sample and Piri Piri madness into a frenzy sonic extravaganza: for one reason or another it was hard to resist not to release this music on wax. Lots of love and respect to all the musicians involved for their trust. Big shout out to Arne and NEWS to getting this done together, Gert Van Hoof for his mastering skills and listening ears, Jef Cuypers for the graphic design, Dubplates and Mastering for the excellent cutting and extra shout out to Ann Vervoort for everything. And many thanks to everyone who bought records or supported the label in a way. Much appreciated.

There is something in the quality of the playing, a strut and a belief that the low end can deliver in spades that makes this a very exciting record. Nothing feels forced, the sound oozes forth and the rhythms drive things like a tank churning up a firing range… It is pretty clear that PRUILLIP deals in total psycho drama.

Een avond vol maffe klankstoringen en andere belemmeringen - Gonzo (circus) | Muziek.Kunst.Meer. Cortizona presenteerde afgelopen zaterdag in Antwerpen een sterke affiche met artiesten uit eigen stal, met onder meer schntzl, Céline Gillain en Walter Verdin.In navolging van ons labelreport in GC #176, wilden we daar natuurlijk graag bij zijn. Patsker Omar Beguin doet verslag.

Some pictures of the Cortizona label evening last Saturday. Lots of emotions, fantastic concerts by wonderful artists and beautiful people. Too bad Cèline Gillain's set was messed up by mysterious technical problems: her soundcheck was flabbergasting. Much love to everyone involved and attending.
