It's a strange and beautiful thing reflecting on the first year of this project. I was so scared to put myself out there, but once I did I wondered why I put so much pressure on it. Reading Elizabeth Gilbert's book Big Magic (thank you Gemma Garman 🙏🏽) helped me shift my thinking on this - create and share, without expectation - and I hold onto this whenever I feel my fear starting to take over. I can't believe how much has happened in a relatively short time frame, considering lockdowns, being in a new city/country/continent, and also at times getting in my own way. vlou has also developed in a way that was not intended - because of the uncertainty of live music, I planned to focus on online; releasing music more regularly and building towards sync licensing. But the opportunity to perform live kept presenting itself, and having missed it for so long it felt like a natural shift. A single, a music video, some features, reviews, playlists and a few soul-fulfilling shows seems like a good start to me, and I'm so looking forward to doing more of this over the next year. If you've read this far, thank you, and thank you for your support 🧡

Alessia Capasso for the great extra footage, and Emile Van Den Berghe for lending me your camera 😊
Match Day 2022 was incredible! 🏳️🌈 It felt so good to perform again and to share my music live 🧡 Very grateful to have been a part of the celebration, and to be amongst the the other wonderful artists exhibiting and performing 🙌🏽
Congrats and a big thank you to Britt and the Match Belgium team 🔥
Thank you to Nathalia Lourenço for playing keys so beautifully with me, to Emile van den Berghe for the great photos, and to everyone who came to support 🧡
In studio exploring some routing and setup options for my upcoming shows 🧡
Happy to have Nathalia joining me on keys 🎶
I've been working on my live set 🎸
Having mainly played in band settings, there's a lot of newness to navigate. It's been fun learning more about running tracks while performing and which DAW works best for what I need, and I'm also enjoying tweaking my demos for the live context.
I'm excited to share this new setup with you soon 🧡

Easing into 2022. Cosy 🧡
After a wonderful December with family and spending some of January recovering from the latest addition of the Greek alphabet, creating has resumed.
Retreating back to my little home studio as the days get colder, shorter and greyer 🎧
I'm excited to work on my next release, and I'm so happy that my first music video was so well received and has over 2k views.
Thank you for the support 🧡
Very happy to have some local coverage of the music video for Scenes from a Dream 🇧🇪

Inspired by Nubya Garcia's Tiny Desk (Home) Concert and Chaka Khan's "Like Sugar" music video, the official music video for "Scenes from a Dream'' was shot in my Brussels home, reminiscent of lockdown and the conditions under which the single was written. Mood lighting creates a dreamy backdrop for the various scenes, alternating between live-style performance and dance that has been manipulated in edit for a dream-like undertone.
Thank you so much to the wonderful, skilled team who helped put this together - I'm so proud of what we managed to create and I thoroughly enjoyed navigating this new terrain with you all 🧡

We finished shooting the video for "scenes from a dream" 15 minutes before my birthday, and it was a wonderful way to bring in my next trip around the sun 🌞 Editing is in progress, and I'm excited to share some moments from the process with you!

Two evenings of shooting done and I'm feeling invigorated, exhausted and so so so excited 😅🧡
Emile took this photo when we were done with some test shooting last week and we noticed the sunset was looking particularly gorgeous 🌅 We have a little-ish ledge outside our kitchen window and I was telling him how I'd always wanted to try and and capture something out there but was a bit nervous because there's no railing. As you can imagine, there wasn't much moving around involved 😉
We start shooting today! After some fun and experimental test shoots, we're ready to get stuck into it 📹 Very excited and grateful to be working with these amazing people on the video for "scenes for a dream" 🧡

My debut single was the first time I mixed and produced my own music, so to be included in this amazing playlist of women and gender diverse producers and engineers is so encouraging 🧡
