🔴 Another concerning report from the FRA that underlines the need for anti-racist action in the EU.
👉🏼 There has been a surge in anti-Muslim racism in EU over the past 9 years. Nearly half of Muslims experience racial discrimination, according to the Fundamental Rights Agency, from a newly published study. (.rights)
🤝🏼For this reason, we join the FRA to call on the Commission and Member States to:
1️⃣ renew the EU anti-racism action plan from 2025 and ensure actions to combat anti-Muslim racism
2️⃣ ensure research and data collection on all grounds of discrimination
3️⃣ enforce anti-discrimination laws, with sufficient sanctions for discrimination and hate crimes
4️⃣ ensure adequate resources to equality bodies to tackle discrimination, as stated in the Directive on equality bodies
5️⃣ eradicate discriminatory police profiling
6️⃣ tackle racism in education, employment and healthcare
✊🏼 The time for action is now. Together, we can build a more inclusive Europe 🌹🇪🇺

➡️ On World Mental Health Day 🧠, we at YES acknowledge the concerns raised by the UN regarding a new report from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, which indicates that one-third of mental health conditions emerge before the age of 14, and half develop before the age of 18.
YES has always advocated for the well-being of youth, paying special attention to the availability of mental health care. It is crucial to recognize that mental health should be treated with the same importance as physical health.
Many young people struggle with mental health issues that remain undiagnosed, creating a grey area where their needs go unrecognized and unmet. The care that young people with mental health issues require is not accessible due to systemic barriers such as limited availability, the unaffordability of services, and the persistent stigma that prevents them from receiving adequate help.
This is why, especially today, we want to emphasize that Mental Health Matters. You are not alone.
Please share this message and support young people in finding and receiving the quality care they deserve.

✊🏽 Quand les progressistes s’unissent, tout est possible!
When progressives unite, everything is possible!
‼️ Congratulations to our French comrades. They have courageously stopped the far right, and they have become an example for the rest of Europe, and the world!
🙌🏽 We are particularly proud of the hard work of our VP .joao who has worked relentlessly for the France he believes in, and we all believe in. A progressive France that prioritises social justice and sustainability, a France against hate and determined for a better future for all. Félicitations!
Following the results of the European Elections that took place between the 6th-9th of June all across the EU, the Presidium of the Young European Socialists wants to highlight the following conclusions:
Europe has a problem:
➡️ We are extremely concerned about the significant rise in the number of far-right MEP’s, particularly in some countries, and the appearance of new anti-system, populist and neo-fascists representatives (which should be accounted as far right too).
🚫 We call for a strengthened cordon sanitaire against these groups/representatives and to protect a pro-european and pro-democratic majority in the European Union.
Celebrating our strength:
🌹 We take pride in the fact that the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) remains the second-largest group in the European Parliament, and is the leading progressive force within the EP. Our commitment to social justice, equality, and solidarity has resonated with citizens across Europe. We must make this opportunity count in the coming years, as the S&D is the only force capable of continuing strengthening the European social, green and feminist agenda.
💼 Nicolas Schmit took the first step on proposing a Directive on Quality Traineeships. We call for this Directive to be approved with the guarantee that it will ban unpaid internships. We also support the European Green New Deal and any proposals defending migrants, women, and LGBTIQ+ rights.
Youth representation:
📈 Even though young MEPs still account for less than 10% of the Group’s composition, we are happy to count with an important group of young members. We celebrate the diversity and dynamism of our newly elected young members, and we are confident in their future invaluable contributions to shaping European policies.

We keep working for a progressive Europe in the next elections, see you at the polls on the 6-9th of June! 🗳️
We wanted young candidates for the European Parliament Election, and we got them! We’ve said it from the beginning of this campaign: to get young people to vote, we need young candidates who will represent our interests and needs. 🌈
Here you have some of those who you can vote, depending on your country, to represent you in the EP for a fair, social and sustainable Europe 🌹
🇧🇪 If you live in Brussels or Flanders, in Belgium, you can:
• vote for Stephanie Ngongo, number 6 on the Vooruit list.
• vote for Nathalie Vanvelthoven, number 4 on the Vooruit list.
🇫🇷 In France, vote for PS France if you support Joao Martins Pereira.
🇵🇱 And in Poland, vote for Mateusz Pietras, number 10 of the New Left in District 6 (Łódź Voivodeship).
Europe belongs to youth, see you at the polls! 🗳️
🇪🇺 Happy Europe Day! On this special day, we are more than happy to share with you our Campaign poster, calling for young people all around Europe to go to the polls and decide our future. Send us a dm if you want to get a printable version!
🤝🏼 On this May 9, the Young European Socialists, stand together to celebrate the peace and unity that has been the foundation of our European project. The 9th of May is not just a date on the calendar; it is a symbol of our collective journey towards a society that values solidarity, equality, and social justice.
☮️ As we reflect on the past, we are inspired by the visionary leaders who paved the way for a united Europe. Their dream of a continent without war, where cooperation triumphs over conflict, resonates with us now more than ever. We are the heirs to this legacy, and it is our responsibility to carry the torch forward.
🌈 Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the European ideal – an ideal that transcends borders and unites diverse cultures under a common banner of progress. We envision a Europe that prioritizes the well-being of its youth, invests in sustainable development, and fosters an inclusive society where every voice is heard.
🚩 We celebrate the achievements of the European Union, but we also recognize the challenges ahead. The fight against climate change, the struggle for workers’ rights, and the battle against inequality require our urgent attention and action. We are ready to lead the charge and work tirelessly for a brighter future.
🌹 Let us use this Europe Day to renew our dedication to our values and to each other. Together, we can build a Europe that is green, fair, and democratic – a Europe that we can all be proud of. Let’s demonstrate it on June 6-9!
✊🏽 Europe belongs to youth, see you at the polls!
YES calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
As of today, more than 30.000 civilians have been killed in Gaza following Israel military actions. We recall that the protection of civilian lives is a fundamental principle of international law. It is imperative to allow humanitarian aid to safely enter Gaza and alleviate the suffering of millions of Palestinian citizens, as well as ending shortages in basic resources such as water, electricity, or medical supplies. We also highlight that all those remaining hostage must be released, the spiral of violence must end (including in the West Bank), and the whole international community should work towards achieving a two-state solution as the only way for a long-lasting peace between the two peoples.
What a wonderful and insightful weekend we spent in Portugal!
