Within URBCON ArcelorMittal will be a technological and commercial advisor and a supplier of by-products for the realisation of the pilots. In other words, they are literally woven into the core of the story.

Steel is the fabric of life, as it underpins the modern world, from railways to cars and washing machines. Their greatest ambition is to be a new and more environmentally friendly product. Steel ambitions, right?

With steel at our core, our inventive people inside URBCON and an entrepreneurial culture at our heart, we will support the world in making that change.

A city resurrected from the ashes now plays a vital role in the URBCON story. We proudly present our partner: The City of Rotterdam, one of our Dutch partners, where innovation and modernisation are key.

At the Steve Biko place, in Gemeente Rotterdam, we will literally be building bridges between the present and the future way of concrete living. The City of Rotterdam aims to be climate neutral by 2050. With the URBCON pilot project, they ensure that they keep getting closer to their goal, step by step.

There it is, our brand new Ghent project: two beautiful benches built out of Urbcon concrete. The city of Ghent wants to be a leader in the circular economy, so we're glad to team up! Oh, and of course, we're proud to be in the papers.

Waarom deze nieuwe zitbankjes ecologischer zijn dan het lijkt: “Ze stoten tot 65 procent minder CO2 uit” De wegwerken aan de kruising van de Brusselsepoortstraat en de Sint-Lievenspoortstraat zijn afgerond. De tram rijdt over vernieuwde sporen en het plein is groener dan voorheen. Al springt vooral het verhaal van de bijzondere zitbanken in het het oog.

You can tell a lot about someone's hands. These hands are all hands with a story. They all contribute in their own way to the concrete story.

Can you feel the spark? We proudly present our partner: ResourceFull, who literally provides the chemistry within URBCON. Wouter, together with his two other companions, Thomas and Lukas, saw a major problem in the gigantic quantity of metallurgical slags during their studies as civil engineers. They started searching for solutions, the beginning of ResourceFull!

They researched several waste streams or natural flows, thé solution according to ResourceFull. With their research, they are trying to develop the ideal activator to be used as an alternative to cement.

As our partner in chemistry, ResourceFull is involved in all the URBCON pilot projects. For example, for Kamp C they 'literally' provided the foundation for the construction project. And now they are putting together the perfect blend for a fire escape.

Soon, you will be able to admire a city bench in Ghent that consists entirely of by-products, a truly fully recycled bench, so to speak. Excited much?

L’union fait la force! Many hands make light work, so we proudly present one of our beloved partners: the Economics Department of the City of Ghent. Ghent wants to be the number one pioneer in the circular economy, and for that they open up some construction projects to URBCON.

There will be a remarkable URBCON realisation in the vibrant centre of Ghent. One to point out the true trustworthiness of URBCON concrete. Primary school De Zonnepoort is in urgent need of a new fire case, which will be completely built in eco concrete by URBCON. Safety and durability above all for our future generations.

With URBCON, we mainly focus on the CO2 story, the concrete story! Through the achievements of the pilot projects, emissions will be significantly reduced

Welcome to Kamp C. The province of Antwerp aims to be climate neutral by 2020. In order to minimise its greenhouse gas emissions, it is important to strive for energy-performing constructions in new buildings and renovations. Kamp C has already incorporated this task into its daily operations and wants to develop it further. By joining the Interreg project URBCON, partnerships can be formed and additional resources found.
