Vrijdag opent een nieuwe tentoonstelling in het te Harelbeke. De tentoonstelling focust op het snijpunt tussen tekening en symbool, tussen betekenis en begrip. Welkom op de opening, nu vrijdag vanaf 19 uur in de Marktstraat 100, 8530 Harelbeke.

R&F F&R tonen een nieuw werk: een serie tekeningen op een ondergrond van een zeefdruk, waarbij er telkens een link gemaakt wordt tussen een getekende vorm van herinnering en een registratie van een performance of actie. De werken worden zo gelaagde constructies vol verschillende werkelijkheden. Daarnaast tonen de kunstenaars ook experimentele creaties waarbij ze met een zeer hete lezer tekenen in diverse steenachtige ondergronden. Het werk is mysterieus en ritualistisch.

Driving off some sorrows again. ‘Mynd i ffwrdd trustwch y byd’, in the beautiful Welsh language 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Conwy forever!

Small intervention in the city of Wakefield, UK. We left a small devotion figure shouldered by a palm-tree in a hidden corner of the museum gardens. This action in public space is an Easter Egg that can be found by urban explorers. The devotion figure and tree represent our fading link with nature. It’s a duo that has been CNC’d in aluminium. It’s a proposal for a possible collaboration. It was a pleasure visiting the museum and the gardens. Great place, great art, great city.

Destroying the sorrows of the North Atlantic and the Ost Sea. GO AWAY SORROW OF THE WORLD between Sweden and Finland on board of the Finnswan from Helsinki to Travemunde.

For the first time our GO AWAY SORROW OF THE WORLD performance in Finland. Step by step we try to ban the sorrow. We shared some conversations, good vibes and smiles with locals. Thank you all! Stay warm.

A half year ago we premiered at Arts Center .gent with a new unit: FIRE 🔥

This participatory performance joins 8 people around a symbolic campfire. Personalized audio creates individual narratives. In order to bond and connect the participants share memories and thoughts creating intimate and, honest moments. FIRE builds onto the power of oral tradition and ancient techniques of sharing. 🗣

And… It was a wild ride so far 🎢 Although the performance premiered, it kept on growing and evolving. We just returned from Austria were the performance played during the festival honoring the cosmos. We learned a lot. And it feels that now, 6 months after the premiere, the performance might go through one final change. More updates in 2024 🙂

We want to thank everyone who worked on the project so far and everyone who believed and programmed us in the last months 🙏

🪵 And we’re happy to announce that we are currently focusing our love and energy onto a new unit: WOOD. This group experience will focus on mycelium networks in an interactive VR context. More info and updates soon when we try-out our first tests at .nu arts center.

From October 6 to 8, 2023, .fabriek will organize its first program with new art and cultural-critical reflection. In mobile exhibition spaces, at an outdoor location near the industrial area 'de Mosselbanken' near Biervliet, EEN FABRIEK presents work by artists , , folklorist and writer and Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert.

The first weekend will follow 'industrial manufactures and materiality' as grand theme. It will take place at the Mosselbanken, a plot of land at the mouth of the Braakman in the municipality of Terneuzen (NL). The area was sold to Dow Chemical in the 1960s and reclaimed with a view to future expansion of the factory sites, but has largely remained in the same condition to this day. The area seems like a “waste land”

Program:
Australian artist Penelope Cain develops the new multimedia work Mussels dream in seaweed song. In addition, British artist Martin Howse will re-contextualize his long-term project Tiny Mining in the Zeeland-Flemish industrial landscape. These two artistic interventions are connected by an audio tour on the d**e next to the Mossel banks, in which folklorist and regional language researcher Marco Evenhuis reflects on extraction and landscape transformation in the past and present of Zeeland. On Sunday, October 8, the Ghent based artist duo Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert will lead the participatory performance Small destruction of suffering near the same location, in which participants can give the industrialization process of the Mossel banks a new place in their lives through a spiritual ritual.

Throwback to BLOEDTEST. 4 years ago and started an immense project centred around the topic of the NIPT-test. The NIPT-test is a genetic test indicating whether mother is a carrier of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy disease or not. NIPT doesn’t break in, into the DNA of mother/child. Does this leads to the idea of the perfect creature / the makable human? What if we could choose our abilities? What if we could crispr everyone? Would this lead to a genetic meritocracy, a synthetic walhalla where the rich are faster, younger, smarter, in better shape? Maybe the world is already like this and genetic tweaking will only enhance the unequalities? BLOEDTEST was an ambitious project, connecting dozens of artists and organisations for a period of 3 years. Over the years, collectives were formed and each collective gave an interpretation about the possible future.

Frank&Robbert Robbert&Frank have been paired with Tony Coopman and Laurence Demets. Together they reflected about NIPT and about people with Downer syndrome. Together they broke through the museum floor. In the earth they created a tomb; the Tomb of the Last Downer.

VERSCHWINDET, SORGEN DER WELT
Am Donnerstag, 15.06., fand die Performance „Destruction of Sorrows and the Creation of Wishes“ im Rahmen von Interspace statt. Das was einen schönen, gemeinschaftlichen Abend, an dem alle Teilnehmenden ihre Wünsche für den Projektraum Schönhauser und die Welt drumherum mit dem Stein verewigen durften. 🧱

On thursday, 15th of June we had the performance „Destruction of Sorrows and the Creation of Wishes“ at interspace. It was a beautiful, collaborative evening where all participants got the chance to set in stone their wishes for the rooms and the world around them. 🧱

The stone brick contains all wishes and hopes of the audience. It will become part of the new exhibition place once the building has been renovated.

The brick is part of the INTER SPACE exhibition that is currently running till july 7 at Schönhauserallee 176, 10119 Berlin.

It’s not a solo, it’s not a residency, it’s not a filmstudio… It’s everything at once. 🔮

Once a month, in a one-minute video, Robbert&Frank present one of their artworks. They have been doing this for four years, consistently - forty-eight videos. The videos are shared through a newsletter and social media. They form a lightweight ongoing digital exhibition accessible to everyone.👁‍🗨

The fourth anniversary of this digital collection is the occasion for their second physical presentation at gallery. This passage takes the form of a self-proclaimed residency. So don't expect a brushed-off show, but a working studio. 💡🎞🛠🪚🪬

The time has come for a state of mind. What image do we get of Frank&Robbert's work through these video clips? Is it representative of their diverse art practice? Is a common thread discernible? And if so, where does it lead us? 🪄

The artists will examine this together with the visitors of the gallery and in conversation with various 'special guests'.

presents: B-SIDES & RARITIES

From 8 April to 29 April, the exhibition B-SIDES AND RARITIES will take place at FRED&FERRY gallery. The exhibition is an energetic, dynamic and inspiring mix of unpublished, unrealised and experimental tests of the gallery artists snd invitees. The exhibition mainly focuses on a quantity of smaller works and ‘specials'; expect some raw ideas, vidual sketches, 'outtakes', maquettes, curiosities, snippets of reflections, reenactments, etc.

Frank&Robbert Robbert&Frank show a book, one of a kind, with a series of bundled originals from their Mayan Hieroglyphs series. These Mayan Hieroglyphs are print failures from social media and Wikipedia where the artists try to steer the failing print mechanism and turn it into something between painting and contemporary archeology.

Opening on Saturday 8 April from 1pm to 6pm. The exhibition will remain on view until 29 April. The gallery is open Thursday to Saturday from 1pm to 6pm and 7/7 by appointment.

Table Dialogues: EARTH/FIRE — Robbert&Frank Frank&Robbert Table Dialogues is een project dat extended reality, interactief theater en beeldende kunst verenigt.

A few weeks ago we travelled to Hamburg, Germany, to install a custom made brick. The brick is an artwork containing our well known mantra ‘Go Away Sorrow of the World’. Doing so we hope that this intervention may bring good luck to all whom live in this house. 🧱
