A true Belgian icon is our final sponsor: Sirop de Liège!
It is neither jelly, nor jam, nor marmalade…No, the Vrai Sirop de Liège® is a unique recipe full of fruit that was developed in 1937 with apples, pears, dates and more!
4 kg of fruit go into 1 kg of sirop, full of fruit and full of flavour!
Deliciously simple on a slice of bread at any time of the day, this is not it's only use! The sirop makes a great addition to a cheese platter, in line with the tradition that associates it to Herve cheese and fromage frais. You can use it in your culinary creations: marinades, sauces, even stews!, dressing, salads and, last but not least, desserts. Of course, a place where it truly comes to life, is on pancakes and crêpes.
The entire riveting story of how this icon is made can be found on their website www.sirop-de-liege.com, along with a colourful telling of their rich history, all the way back to 1902! when Clément Meurens dreamt of selling fruit syrup spread all across the country.
You can also check out their page (with recipes!) at Siroperie Meurens.
Come enjoy this sweet traditional fruit spread at the breakfast in Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021, Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent and Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action.
We are very glad to announce our next sponsor is Fairebel Milk! Fairebel has very generously donated individual cartons of chocolate milk for our Breakfast action.
Behind this brand with the black-yellow-red map hides more than just an agriculture cooperative, they offer a positive and innovative answer to societal challenges! With Fairebel, you are supporting not just your producers, who are struggling in today's vicious business cycle, you are also using local products and investing in sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture. Fairebel is a project where everyone wins.
In 2009, a couple of dairy farmers established a cooperative to market their milk for a fair price. This means Fairebel has been committed to supporting family businesses in Belgium for over ten years! Their fair approach does not stop at the Belgian borders. For the Fairebel whole milk with chocolate flavour, they are now doing the same thing for cacao farmers in Africa. Since last year, Fairebel only works with 100% Fairtrade-certified cacao for their chocolate milk, ensuring a fair price for cacao farmers in Ghana, Ivory Coast and others.
Find out more about Fairebel and their many other products at www.fairebel.be or check out their page: Fairebel Milk.
Order your IAAS Breakfast today and you will be able to taste their delicious and fair chocolate milk in Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent, Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action or Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021.
Our second sponsor of today is another one we are very excited to be working with again: Callebaut. On a day as gloomy as today, there’s nothing like a hot cup of chocolate milk, and Callebaut chocolate is perfect for it.
Callebaut is one of the leading chocolate companies in Belgium, with good reason! For over a 100 years, they have been using only the finest of ingredients to make the Finest Belgian Chocolate, which is sold all over the country and used to make so many of Belgium's great chocolate products.
Callebaut is actively working to make sustainable chocolate the norm with their plan called Forever Chocolate. By 2025 they aim to lift 500.000 cocoa farmers out of poverty and to completely remove child labor from their supply chain, a big issue in today's cocoa farming. They hope to achieve these goals with help of Callebaut's very own non-profit organisation, the Cocoa Horizons Foundation. Among things like encouraging and training a new generation of young farmers, this foundation is helping to give more power to women in agriculture, a cause very dear to IAAS (as we have our very own Women in Agriculture program).
Find delicious recipes and read more about Callebaut, their goals and farmer testimonies on the website: www.callebaut.com or find them on facebook: Callebaut and instagram: .
You can also expect some of their wonderful and delicious chocolate in our breakfast! Check it out in Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent, Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021, and Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action.

Their tea is uniquely blended. They source their whole leaf teas and other ingredients from around the world and put together a unique assortment with our tea connoisseur that you don't find in any other brands.

The following sponsor is Iceland's secret to healthy living: Ísey skyr!
Ísey Skyr is a remarkable dairy product unique to Iceland. A delicious rich flavour and thick, creamy texture gives this all-natural product a distinct place of its own on the dairy shelf.

A traditional favourite of Icelanders, Ísey Skyr is the only skyr that contains the original Icelandic skyr cultures from MS Iceland Dairies, and it's made according to the original Icelandic recipe, which dates back a thousand years!

Our next sponsor is Columbus Nutrition - Tasty and healthy Columbus eggs to start your day!
Clinical, independent studies have shown that Columbus eggs have unique health benefits (on cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar levels,..) thanks to their ideal 1:1 ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids! The Columbus eggs contain up to 15x more omega-3 than standard eggs and even 4x more than other omega-3 eggs. Of course, this means a big fat A on the nutri-score!
The Columbus egg is not only good for humans, attention is also paid to animal welfare. Moreover, Columbus also guarantees a higher income for farmers and a limited ecological footprint.
Great for your health and a sustainable choice!
Want to know more: you can follow on Facebook: Columbus Nutrition and Instagram: .

We are so happy to announce that there will once again be sponsored donuts at the breakfast! Thanks to Vandemoortele Professional!
Vandemoortele is a leading European food company that produces and sells high quality products. Vandemoortele focuses on two categories: bakery products & margarines, culinary oils and fats.
In 1997, as the first in Europe, Vandemoortele started their production of donuts under the Doony's brand, according to authentic American recipes!
Check out their website: www.vandemoortele.com and page Vandemoortele Professional.
Come get one of these delicious donuts at our breakfast in Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action, Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021 and Ghent: IAAS Breakfast Action.
Our next sponsor is one you will all know from their almond thins, chocolate virtuoso (with Callebaut chocolate!), almond florentines and buttery waffle-shaped biscuits: it’s Jules Destrooper!
On 8 August 1885, Jules Destrooper wrote epicurean history. Without knowing it at the time. That was the day Jules opened a small, cosy bakery in the town of Lo in West Flanders.
Another iconic year for Jules Destrooper is 1890: the birth of the butter crisp or “Lukke”. The Butter Crisp is the showpiece of Jules Destrooper. This golden brown, crispy butter wafer, with its iconic diamond pattern, is still baked according to a 19th-century secret family recipe. In 1923, it won a gold medal at the prestigious food faire in Brussels and in 2006, this biscuit was honoured with the official VLAM quality mark: ‘Regional product from the Westhoek’. Next week, 131 years after its creation, you can find this showstopper biscuit in our IAAS breakfast.
Find out the entire variety of Jules Destrooper biscuits on their website: www.julesdestrooper.com, their page Jules Destrooper Biscuiterie and instagram at .
Receive a crispy, buttery and delicious “Lukke” in your breakfast at Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action, Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent or Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021.
Our next sponsor is Belorta (Verbazend plezant!) (Suprisingly fun :D)
More than a thousand local growers bring more flavour to your plate every day! The fresher, the better; that has been Belorta’s simple principle since 1905.
Belorta offers the biggest variety of crisp vegetables and juicy fruits nationally, all from local growers near you!
As an organisation that works by and for producers, there’s no question that taking care of environment, fellow man and society is an important guideline for Belorta. Practically speaking, this translates to 5 strategic themes, based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) of the United Nations:
- Social engagement
- Welfare of employees
- Producer-oriented actions
- Energie, environment & infrastructure
- Innovation & improvement.
Find out more about how they realise these goals on their website: www.belorta.be or page: BelOrta.
Find a delicious - surprisingly fun! - apple in your breakfast from Louvain-La-Neuve, Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent, or Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action.
Our third sponsor is Provamel! Provamel makes plant based drinks like oat drinks, almond drinks and more.
Provamel believes in a world where food comes from the land. Nothing artificial. Only what nature intended. Nothing more, nothing less. For you, for the planet, for everybody.
For their soy, oats, rice or almonds (or hazelnuts), they prefer to work with small, local organic farmers in Europe instead of the big players in the global market. All the ingredients that they source are vegan, GMO-free and organic and like all organic products, there are no artificial additives, preservatives and colourings in any of their foods. They try to make the most delicious drinks, using only a few recognisable and simple ingredients.
Find out more about provamel on their website www.provamel.com or page: Provamel.
In the IAAS breakfast you will find a delicious oat milk, drink it by itself, in your coffee or make one of Provamel’s wonderful recipes from their website. Order your breakfast now at Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent, Louvain-La-Neuve, or Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action.
Our second sponsor is one we are very happy is coming back for another year, and who is making sure every breakfast has a Speculoos cookie, Vermeiren Princeps!
Vermeiren Princeps bakes marvellous caramelised biscuits in the traditional way. The Flemish baker still does this according to the old method. The biscuits are baked like our Belgian grandparents used to bake them, but while making use of innovative technological know-how. Hence the crispy caramelised biscuits have the authentic flavour of days gone by, but are now even more delicious and healthy.
Check out their products on their site www.vermeirenprinceps.be and page Vermeiren Princeps.
Do you want to taste their speculoos cookie? Check it out in Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent, Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021 and Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action.
The first sponsor of our Breakfast Action will be Jacques! They are a Belgian chocolate brand sinds 1896 and will provide your breakfast with amazing chocolate sprinkles. They have very generously offered us both milk and dark chocolates so there’s something for everyone!
Chocolates Jacques wants to contribute to a better world for human and nature. That’s why they only buy from Rainforest Alliance Certified™-farms. The Rainforest Alliance, Inc. works in accordance with business, agriculture and forestry to build a world where person and nature can thrive together. By choosing products with their frog emblem, you are supporting farmers in their measures to make this a sustainable product.
Find out more about Jacques, their goal and history on their website: www.chocojacques.be or check out their page: Chocolat Jacques
And of course don’t forget to order your IAAS Breakfast to receive two samples of their finest chocolate sprinkles from Leuven: IAAS Breakfast Action, Ghent: IAAS Breakfast action Gent or Louvain-La-Neuve: IAAS Breakfast Action 2021
