Last two weeks to visit our current exhibitions. On view until 24 April 2022. Enjoy the walk-through of the 3 exhibitions. “With the simultaneous presentation of one solo show and two duets, Barbé Urbain makes the most of their scaled-up space. The exhibitions Neon Memories by Nelleke Cloosterman (1996°) & Alice Vanderschoot (1989°), Breathe by Stijn Ank (1977°) and Fortune Displays by Manor Grunewald (1985°) & Sybren Vanoverberghe (1996°) merge perfectly into one powerful curve. Bathed in saturated white, three diverse worlds each open a universe all their own.” @nellekecloosterman @alicevanderschoot @stijn.ank @manorgrunewald @vanoverberghesybren Read the full text by Femke Vandenbosch (@vdbfemke ) via link in bio. Please enjoy the digital walk-through of @stan__van__steendam ’s solo show ‘Down the trail’ on view until 13 March 2022. Read the text by @domenico_de_chirico via link in bio. Fragment from the exhibition text: “In this latest cycle of works, through thorough recuperation activities, the materials unquestionably constitute that primary path which constantly insinuates itself into the creative process, passing with agility from one painting to another, establishing its true essence. Through our senses and the perceptive experiences that the senses trigger in us, we can hopefully become aware of the world that surrounds us to the extent that we are able to understand its fundamental aspects. The perceptual experience in which Van Steendam invites us to participate is intended as a primary source of knowledge of the world, which is interpreted as an environment. It is a phenomenon that is as familiar from the point of view of our immediate consciousness as it is enigmatic from the point of view of reflection on the transcendental.” Please contact us for more information, a private visit or a catalog of available works: 📞 +32 (0) 9 391 39 13 ✉️ [email protected] _______________________ Barbé Urbain, Penitentenstraat 29, 9000 Gent. We’re ready to welcome you today to the group show ‘1.1 million pounds’ with works by WILLEM BOEL, CHARLIE DE VOET and RITSART GOBYN. Join us Sat. & Sun. 27 - 28 Nov. from 2-6 pm. @willem_boel @charlie.de.voet @ritsartgobyn (Text by @jef_decl ) As per research, the average weight of a cumulus cloud is 1.1 million pounds. Surprisingly heavier than one might expect, the notion of exactness affiliated to this scientific calculation, conflicts with our intuitive perception of the phenomena. Derived from the Latin cumulo - meaning heap or pile - these elemental configurations are formed seemingly automatic by a number of predictable and unpredictable variants. 1.1 million pound exhibits the work of Willem Boel, Charlie De Voet and Ritsart Gobyn. Each of these artists employs a tensive balance between exact decisions and intuitive actions at the core of their creative proces. The accumulation of a multitude of components characterizes their artistic work which cultivates a precarious appearance on the internal structure of what they create. Please enjoy the exhibition walkthrough shot by @shivadas.be ‘1.1 million pounds’ will be on view until 23 January 2022. Barbé Urbain, Penitentenstraat 29, 9000 Gent.
