Just in time for the retake exams, our new hon has been shared on our website. A little while ago, Tomo no Kai organized another karaoke night. However, for the first time, this was organized at an outside location, namely the Comic Sans.

We would like to hear any feedback, criticism and/or thoughts you may have about this and previous karaoke nights. We would be very thankful if you would be so kind to fill out this Google form, so that we can work to make our events as pleasant and fun for you as possible.

Dear members of Tomo no Kai and our dear Sponsors,
We’ve been facing a technical issue with our mails the past year and have noticed that our [email protected] mail does not work. We’ve tried to redirect the mails going to our ‘info’ mail to our main mail, but even that had stopped working. After doing a careful check through our settings the mail is said to not even exist in the first place. We’ve also tried getting access to it in order to disable it but that is to our frustration impossible. For now, we have removed it from our main mail address in order to prevent confusion when communicating with you through our mails.
So, every time you’ll mail to the ‘info’ mail you’ll receive a ‘bounce’ email which will tell you that the mail domain does not exist and that you should notify us about that issue. I’d like to respond to that as your Webmaster: “We are very aware of the mail not working. We have also disabled it from our account, so you won’t be getting any responses from us through that mail either. I would kindly request to not use the ‘info’ mail. If I would be able to access the mail, I would have changed the bounce mail and added the description to contact us through our main mail instead. However, that is, as you’ve read, impossible to do.”
With this message I would like to request you to no longer use the [email protected] mail and just send your mails directly to [email protected] where our central board members will be able to help you further or guide you to the person that can help you best. You’re also always welcome to text us through messenger or through Instagram where our PR-Intern and central board members will respond. Or for any other specific details, please do contact the right Praesidium member (for example: study related questions to our Study Praeses, etc; https://tomonokai.ugent.be/?page_id=3416 ), the list of Praesidium members is available on our website, and each of us has Facebook and Instagram.

Welcome to the 2022 edition of the Tomo no Kais scavenger hunt!

During this week you and your teammates will go through tasks and challenges. You will have other groups you will have to beat during these challenges but your hard work won’t be unnoticed. The group that achieves the most points will get a free dinner at Yammi Yammi.

Please note, we only accept groups of maximum 4 people and we ask a minimum of 3. After all these challenges are designed to make you get closer with your teammates and with just two it’s a bit too lonely. If you have created your group you’ll have to appoint a “leader”. The leader has to register your team and send their email in to this google forum:

Finally, a new school year a new break the ice event.

Here we can come together, play some board games, drink and make some new friends! Feel free to bring any (board) games and enjoy playing them with your fellow students. The event will take place at one of our very own sponsors Worlds’ End Comics! Here you can also register to become a member of Tomo no Kai and be able to immediately enjoy discounts at various sponsorships. Lets try to do what the Titanic was never able to do: Break the ice!

P.S. Our membership costs €10, preferably cash. See you there!

As we’re approaching a new semester we will also organize a second hand book sale. Do you have some books you won’t be needing anymore and would you like to sell it to the next generation Japanology students? Then please come to the kitchen on the 5th floor of Campus Blandijnberg on the 27th of September between the hours 15-17.

Please put a post-it on the first page of each book with the following information: your name, mail, your banking account number and the price of your book.

Applications were screened and votes were cast! Tomo no Kai is proud to present its praesidium for the '22 - '23 school year!

Next school year marks the 15th anniversary of Tomo no Kai's existence, making it a Lustrum Year. To celebrate this, Brechje Schoenmaekers, our current president, will take upon her the role of Lustrum. We're convinced that her creative mind will come up with some amazing ideas to celebrate our wonderful little community!

Furthermore, we've decided to spoil you more than usual with cultural activities, information and the like, by recruiting two different people in charge of the Culture position! This way we're sure to provide you with as much experiences as possible to bring you closer to Japanese culture.

Lastly, we haven't yet appointed anyone to the position in charge of external PR. This is something we'll be looking into on a later date.

We are all very excited to see what is to come next year, but there is still some time left in this term, so let's enjoy it to its fullest!

De praesidiumverkiezingen zullen binnenkort van start gaan! Wij zoeken naar gemotiveerde studenten die graag in teamverband events willen organiseren en ideeën uitwerken! Wil je graag deel uitmaken van het bestuur van Tomo no Kai volgend academiejaar? Wij verwachten dan jullie kandidatuur waarin staat:

- Een top 3 van de functies die je graag wil beoefenen
- Een motivatie bij elke functie waarom jij denkt dat jij de geschikte persoon zou zijn voor de functie
- Voor de functie Design vragen wij een poster/banner waarbij je je skills toont
- Voor de functie scriptor wensen wij een geschreven tekst (lijkende op een artikel die in onze Hon zou verschijnen)

Welke functies?

Voor alle niet-kern functies kan er gestreden worden, namelijk: Feest, Sport, Scriptor, Design, Cultuur, Pr-Intern, Pr-Extern, Web, Studie en Secretaris + Lustrum (met aanleiding tot onze Lustrumjaar volgend academiejaar is dus ook de Lustrumfunctie mogelijk)!
Voor huidige praesidiumleden (dit academiejaar) zijn de kernfuncties open: Praeses, Vice-Praeses en Penning!

Graag ontvangen wij jullie kandidatuur per mail op [email protected] tegen ten laatste 31 maart 23u59. (Voor kernfuncties is dat ten laatste deze zondag 20 maart 23u59).

Indien je vragen hebt over bepaalde functies, gelieve het lid hiervoor te contacteren die je gewenste functie doet dit jaar. Stuur ons gerust een mail of een berichtje!

The elections for Tomo no Kai will be starting soon! We seek motivated students who would like to organize events and develop ideas as a team! Would you like to be part of the board of Tomo no Kai next year? Then we expect your candidacy with:

- A top 3 of the positions you’d like to practice
- A motivation for each of those functions that states why you would be a fitting person for the position
- For the Design functions a poster/banner that shows your skills
- For the Scriptor function a written text (similar to an article from the Hon)

What functions?

All non-core functions are available: Party (Feest), Sport, Scriptor, Design, Cultuur (Culture), Pr-Intern, Pr-Extern, Web, Studie (Study) and Secretaris (Secretary) + Lustrum (since upcoming academic year is also our Lustrum year the Lustrum function is also available)!
For current board members of Tomo no Kai the core functions are open: Praeses (President), Vice-Praese (Vice-President) and Penning (Treasurer)!

Send us your motivation by March 31 23h59 to [email protected]. (For core functions the deadline is on March 20 23h59).

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us via mail or by message! If you also have any function-specific questions, please do contact the current board member of the function you are interested in!

Hopefully we’ll see your motivations appear in our mails!
