๐ After the academy, most employees start working for their first client. For those who haven't found a match with a client yet or for those whose project will only start in a couple weeks time, there is the rootsacademy project. This is an internal project in which the participants can gain their first experience, making them even more prepared to start working at a client.
The goal of the project is to implement a traffic monitoring solution in AWS that implements vision transformers with Hugging Face according to best practices.
In this post, Nicolas explains how he has improved the performance of the lambda function and what are his lessons learned.

One of our endurance endeavours: the Jogclub popular podcast on our playlist! So we thought it would be a cool idea to partner up with them. In a series of blogposts, Seppe and Bobby are happy to serve as guinea pigs to some experiments. Weโll then deep dive into the data coming out of those experiments and check if our assumptions hold up. ๐ New year, new Dataroots merchandise!
Do you like our newest jackets?
After one month of training at Dataroots, some members of our last Rootsacademy worked on an internal project. This year, the challenge consists of making an end-to-end solution for inference of traffic images. In this post, the cloud-infra team will go over the implemented infrastructure and give tips and tricks to beginners of Terraform and AWS. Our aim is to explain things clearly, such that you, the reader, can get a better understanding of the concepts used. In this post, Bauduin and Jinfu describe their experience as starter with Terraform and AWS.

It was a small group of students so they could really engage with them and focus on the topics they were most interested in. A very cozy environment and a lot of interest from the students, we will do it again!
๐ Another Data Engineer joined the team!
Yesterday Dzani joined the Dataroots team. We are very excited and looking forward to working together!
Last Thursday, Dataroots was present at the Data4Good challenge organized by Emergent Leuven. Training the future generation and sharing our passion and expertise is at the heart of our organisation, which is why we are very much keen of these types of initiatives!
Silke gave a very nice presentation on โAlways look at the graph side of lifeโ, to go from introducing graphs till graph neural networks. Then our team of experts stayed to support the students and help them in their urban planning challenge!
"The organisation of the event was impeccable, rarely have I seen so much professionalism from a student organisation. I think this drove the students to be very motivated, because they showed some terrific out-of-the box thinking, creativity and just dedication to solve a complex problem statement in just 4 hours.โ says Tim.
