Belgische film ‘Julie zwijgt’ geselecteerd voor filmfestival van Cannes: ‘Een verhaal van hoop en emancipatie’ Geen Belgische titels in de officiële competitie van het filmfestival van Cannes dit jaar, maar Leonardo van Dijl mag toch de nationale eer verdedigen. Zijn langspeelfilmdebuut Julie zwijgt maakt deel uit van de Semaine de la Critique, de selectie door het Franse syndicaat voor filmcritici.

In collaboration with Talking Shorts and the European Network for Film Discourse. Hosted by the talented Savina Petkova. Deadline: 30 September 2024.

📚 Along with the Scenaristengilde, Pitch Your Script 2024 invites you to submit your script. 10 lucky (aspiring) screenwriters receive a pitching crash course and get to pitch their script to a group of 10 producers. The prize? €5.000 worth of production budget, donated by Camalot Belgium. Deadline: 31 October 2024.

🤝 Euroconnection '24 is the largest co-production platform for short films in Europe! For two days, the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market will host this pitch and networking event. Deadline: 20 October 2024.

Proud to welcome the European Workshop for Film Criticism again! 🙌

Talking Shorts and the European Network for Film Discourse (The END) present the 6th edition of the European Workshop for Film Criticism during Kortfilmfestival Leuven (December) 🇧🇪 and Vilniaus trumpųjų filmų festivalis / Vilnius Short Film Festival (January) 🇱🇹!

The workshop will explore different forms of written film criticism. In Leuven, participants will work on the fundamentals of writing a solid film review, whereas in Vilnius, the focus will be on essayistic, long-form texts.

The writing process will be supervised editorially during the festivals, and a selection of the texts will be published on Talking Shorts.

Savina Petkova is the tutor of this tandem workshop, and will be joined by several guest mentors yet to be announced. A critic and journalist, she has written for Variety, Sight and Sound, MUBI Notebook, Little White Lies, among others. Savina is also an editor for Talking Shorts, a staff writer for Locarno’s daily publication, and a programmer.

🕰 After it was first created in 2002, it quickly became the face of the festival, shining bright on posters, logo’s and merch. Let's honour this tradition, but also: give the image a well-deserved facelift!

👀 Help us create a communal artwork and submit a frame, adding your own twist and flavour to our mascot. The result will be widely shown across the festival.
