Armed guards, reparations and the lives of others: Venice Biennale 2024 – review There’s less glitz and glamour, more a mood of solemnity at the 60th edition of the Biennale, with revelatory work from Nigeria, Bulgaria and the global south living up to the festival’s provocative subtitle, Foreigners Everywhere…
We are beyond happy and grateful for all the people that came to support us at the opening of our pavilion last Friday ❤️ More than 3000 people have already visited The Neighbours 🥲🥰 We are so thankful to everyone from our transcontinental team that has helped to make this possible, and we would like to thank the survivors and their families for trusting us with their stories. ♥️

Day 2 of the Neighbours exhibition in Toronto
The multimedia installation - The Neighbours: Forms of Trauma (1945-1989) opens today.
The immersive exhibit that lets audiences hear the voices and inhabit the spaces of people who survived forced labour camp is open to the public from today (September 25) until Friday (September 29)from 1 pm to 5 pm at 1, Devonshire Place, Toronto room 321N.
The exhibit is free & open to the public.
Professor Lilia Topouzova and artists Julian Chehirian and Krasimira Butseva are transforming a space at the university into the apartment of a survivor of political violence. This is an unconventional event for a university setting, an immersive exhibit that lets audiences hear the voices and inhabit the spaces of people who survived forced-labour camps.
The historical testimonies of survivors of the Bulgarian gulag form part of a larger narrative of political violence that remains relevant today as states commit acts of violence against civilians, such as the Russian war in Ukraine or the mass internment of Uyghurs in camps by the Chinese government.
The multimedia installation will be open to the public from September 25 to 29, from 1 pm onwards at the Munk School of Global Affairs, 1 Devonshire Pl, room 321N
