Today’s users dismiss slow websites. In order to be fast a website doesn’t depend only on the internet speed but also on the simple, rapidly comprehensible design. Simpler designs allow quick scanning, which means they’re easier to appreciate.

Flat design sticks to the two dimensional nature of screen and that’s why it doesn’t add any deceiving tree dimensional effects. The user has no doubt he’s interacting with anything else but a flat screen. There’s a total lack of shadows, gradients, 3-D effects or any other elements representing real-world things.

It’s finally the era of full-screen image titles and content only visible when you start scrolling. These are the so called “tall pages” which finally allow designers to make a magazine-styled websites filled with big beautiful images.

Flat web design focuses solely on the content and removes all distractions you would encounter in a realistic one. The growing popularity of flat is indicative enough.
