Placing the arms and feet in positions that they are not normally used to challenges the nervous system in finding balance and control. The arms and knees around each other is also a very simple and easy way to stretch out the shoulders and hips. The body is an extremely efficient system any strength, range or skill that we don't practice regularly will get switched off. Allowing potential to be lost due to lack of practice is squandering the invaluable gift of health that nature has given us.

Today is world vegan day. For many, the word ‘vegan’ clashes with our institutional knowledge. Our upbringing. Our source of protein. Our culture. Our habits. Our appetites. Our religions. It challenges the norm which has become the industrialised killing of billions of animals each year. It challenges the meat industry, one of the greatest negative environmental impacts on Earth. It challenges the notion that society should be suspended in a state of sickness and disease. If it challenges all of those, then count me in.

Meet Neel.
Neel loves to get fit.
He listens to his coaches, keeps an open mind and is always ready to try new things.
When we asked him to start a yoga practice he didn't say, ' I'm not flexible,' or 'I don't have the patience.'
All he said was, 'I'll try my best.'
Be like Neel.

Drop jump drills with bands.
Excessive knee varus (knees knocking inwards) causes strain on the hips (gluteus medius), inner thigh muscles (adductors) as well as the knees (ACL, MCL) . Athletes don't notice this until a stress injury pops up around the knees. Especially those who run a lot.
If you feel your knees knock inwards or you have flat feet then a simple exercise to start with is the banded glute bridge raise.

Reposted from Stiffness in the body represents stiffness in the mind. Fear makes us cling to old ways, and we find it difficult to be flexible. If we believe there is only one way to do something, we often find ourselves becoming stiff. We can always find other ways to do some things. .

The hip hinge is one of the most frequently used movements by humans. Yet it is because of this movement we end up with so many issues. Being seated for long periods of time messes up the glute muscles and the position of the lumbar spine. We eventually lose control over the bottom range of this movement and then every time we sit on something we end up crashing rather than landing gently. This hurts our spine every time and the stress begins to build up leading to inflammation, pain and stiffness. Because this is such a frequently used movement we tend to ignore the first symptoms of pain and realize only much later when the issue becomes a lot more serious.
Simply by practicing box squats where you land as softly as you can on the box as well as becoming aware of how you land every time you sit can prevent most lower back problems.
Treat your spine as if it is delicate crystal whenever you sit down.
Get in touch with us if you have lower back issues.

Pandiculation:

You know that slow body “stretching” you do automatically in bed when you wake up in the morning? Or maybe you do it at night while yawning, feeling tired from the day. Did you know that this action actually has a name? It’s called pandiculation, and it’s pretty amazing for you.

What is pandiculation?
The “act of pandiculation” is what every animal with a spine does to reset and reboot its movement system.
The types of movements involved usually involve:
-extending the legs
-raising the arms above the head
-arching and rounding the spine
Incredibly, this movement is instinctual. In fact, it starts before we’re even born as fetuses have been found to pandiculate in the womb.
And other mammals do it too. (Approximately 40 times a day!) If you have a cat or a dog, watch them when they wake up or change positions. They will likely make those movements I listed above. We have even named yoga poses after them like downward dog, upward-facing dog, and cat-cow.

Pandiculation is not often talked about, but there have been a few studies conducted on its effects. It has been found that pandiculation:
-eliminates stiffness from sleeping overnight
-resets the central nervous system and myofascial system (connective tissue) -relaxes the muscles and relieves tension
-reduces stress levels
-can reverse muscle pain
-creates an invigorating feeling in the body
-improves proprioception (sense of the body’s position and movement)

There are just 3 quick, simple steps to the pandiculation process.
1. Contract
2. Lengthen
3. Release
Now that you too are aware of this phenomenon, be mindful of it in the mornings. Make sure you pandiculate in bed before you jump out to start your day and pay attention to how it feels. There is no time requirement or counting involved. Just don’t suppress it.

This Asana is called urdhva kukkutasana. ( upward rooster pose) 😅 sorry just sounds funny in my head😜

It's an advanced pose. Before you try this make sure you're comfortable doing headstand and lotus pose.

How is your practice at home ?
Keep trying something new everyday and don’t worry about whether you are making progress or not. Just keep practicing without worrying about the end result 💪
This is your Meditation. It is not something that should be done in a particular position at a particular time. It is an awareness and an attitude that must persist through the day.

Gloves are an essential of PPE (Personal protective equipment). PPE is effective only if used exactly as per medical standards. When dealing with an invisible contaminant we need to make sure we take every precaution to keep ourselves safe. This simple technique to remove gloves must be followed always otherwise we beat the purpose of the PPE.
Also, please throw your PPE like masks and gloves in a bin as soon as they are removed. Don't leave them lying around.
