Pour une première depuis le début du projet, une équipe du projet TB-LAB, constitué par le Prof Dissou AFFOLABI et le Dr Narcès GNANKADJA, visite le LNR Zaria au nord du Nigeria, ainsi que d'autres laboratoires, en vue de mieux évaluer le réseau de laboratoires du pays.

For a first since the start of the project, a team from the TB-LAB project, made up of Prof Dissou AFFOLABI and Dr Narcès GNANKADJA, is visiting the LNR Zaria in northern Nigeria, as well as other laboratories, in order to better assess the country's laboratory network.

Les visites annuelles aux LNR ont démarré depuis le 17 octobre 2022 avec l'utilisation d'une nouvelle checklist conçu par le projet pour mieux évaluer le réseau de laboratoires de TB dans chaque pays. Les pays visités sont le Gabon, le Ghana, la Guinée-Bissau, le Niger, la Sierra Leone, le Tchad et le Togo.

Annual visits to the NRLs started on October 17, 2022 with the use of a new checklist designed by the project to better assess the network of TB laboratories in each country. The countries visited are Gabon, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Niger, Sierra Leone, Chad and Togo.

Les sessions francophones du Cours International de Mycobactériologie Appliquée (CIMA) se sont déroulées respectivement du 05 au 09 septembre 2022 et du 12 au 16 septembre 2022. Les participants venaient de la Belgique, du Bénin, du Burkina Faso, du Cap-Vert, de la Côte d'Ivoire, du Cameroun, du Gabon, de la Mauritanie, du Mali, du Niger, de la RCA, de la RDC, de Sao Tomé et Principe, du Sénégal, du Tchad et du Togo. Ils ont ainsi pu approfondir les notions apprises lors du cours en ligne.

The French-speaking sessions of the International Course in Applied Mycobacteriology (ICAM) was held respectively from September 05 to 09, 2022 and from September 12 to 16, 2022. The participants came from Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Gabon, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, CAR, DRC, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Chad and Togo. The training course maintenance of laboratory equipment took place from July 25 to 29, 2022, at the premises of SRL Cotonou. Participants from Congo, Nigeria, CAR, and Togo, acquired new theoretical and practical skills they can deploy upon returning to their respective countries.

Le stage sur la maintenance des équipements (de laboratoire) a eu lieu du 25 au 29 juillet 2022 dans les locaux du SRL Cotonou. Les participants venant du Congo, du Nigéria, de la RCA et du Togo ont pu acquérir de nouvelles compétences théoriques et pratiques qu’ils pourront déployer à leur retour dans leurs pays respectifs.

Elle spécifie les exigences générales relatives à la compétence des organisateurs de programmes d'essais d'aptitude et à l'élaboration et à l'exécution des programmes d'essais d'aptitude.

On the 26th – 27th January 2022, the laboratories at the Centre for Human Virology and Genomics (CHVG) and Centre for Tuberculosis Research (CTBR), both in the Microbiology Department, NIMR, were successfully re-assessed for ISO 15189 accreditation. Both centers have accredited assays in the field of molecular biology, serology, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.

These laboratories have consistently expanded the number of assays accredited from the initial 13 assays in 2017 to 16 in 2019 and with this recent success, the number of assays accredited has been further increased to include “LJ Culture and Sensitivity” for diagnosis of tuberculosis. This brings the current number of accredited assays in both centers to 17.

The leadership of the institute appreciates the efforts of all members of staff who have worked tirelessly to make this happen. Bravo, keep the quality flag flying!!!

The ISO 15189 accreditation is highly regarded both nationally and internationally as a reliable indicator of technical competence for medical laboratories.
