Meet 2024 TLF intern Nicholas Weikl:

Nicholas Weikl applied for the TLF program due to his passion for the IT industry and his desire to meet others who share this passion, while gaining valuable experience and connections.

He is studying IT because it aligns with his interests and he recognizes the increasing demand for IT skills in the future.

After graduating from Nova Southeastern University, Nicholas aims to secure a position as a software engineer. His favorite subjects in school are those in the math field.

Nicholas has set three primary goals for himself:

✅️ Make his family proud

✅️ Graduate university with at least a 3.5 GPA

✅️ Achieve success as a software engineer.

Meet 2024 TLF intern Anaya West:

Anaya West applied to the TLF program to gain hands-on tech experience, network with industry professionals, and enhance his leadership skills.

He is studying IT because it fascinates him due to its role in innovation and problem-solving and because it offers creative opportunities and a solid career foundation.

Anaya attends Dalhousie University, and after graduating, he plans to pursue careers in cybersecurity or software engineering, aiming to protect organizations and develop innovative software solutions.

His favorite school subjects are any software engineering-related courses. He enjoys logical thinking, problem-solving, and the process of creating functional, efficient software.

Anaya has three primary goals:

✅️ Secure a role in cybersecurity and software engineering after graduation.

✅️ Stay updated and improve skills through ongoing education.

✅️ Mentor aspiring tech professionals and promote diversity in tech.

Meet 2024 TLF Intern A'Maiah Butterfield:

A'Maiah Butterfield applied for the TLF program for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in different areas that will help her make an informed decision about her career path. She also would like to utilize the networking opportunities, allowing her to connect with professionals and peers in the IT industry, thereby enhancing her professional growth and opening doors to potential career prospects.

A'Maiah is studying IT because she believes it is an ever-changing landscape that is constantly evolving and transforming at a rapid pace. She described IT as a fast-paced environment that ensures there is always something new to discover and learn, keeping individuals on their toes and constantly expanding their knowledge and skills.

After graduating from Saint Mary's University, A'Maiah plans to return to Bermuda and seek employment within a private firm. Her intention is to apply the knowledge and skills gained during her studies to contribute to the local economy and grow professionally in a dynamic and challenging environment.

A'Maiah's 3 goals are:

✅️ To graduate with honors.

✅️ To secure a job in her field upon completing her studies.

✅️To pursue and attain her master's degree.

Meet 2024 TLF intern Tyler Furtado:

Tyler Furtado applied for the TLF program as the next step in his development towards becoming a key staple in Bermuda's tech industry. Recommended by his past mentors, he couldn't be happier with this decision. This opportunity is incredibly meaningful to him, and he plans to carry the lessons learned throughout the summer with him for life.

Tyler's interest in IT stems from its significant impact on his life. Since middle school, he has been involved with IT by assisting his school with audio-visual equipment and learning to code at Connechtech. This long-standing passion made IT an obvious career choice.

After graduation, Tyler aims to return to Bermuda, leveraging the resources and knowledge gained over the years, especially from the TLF program, to build a career in network engineering or cybersecurity.

Currently, his favorite subject in school is networking He enjoys learning various commands to connect routers, switches, and PCs, and he finds great joy in applying this knowledge in networking labs,.

Tyler's goals include:

✅️ Successfully complete the 2024 TLF program

✅️ Graduate from Ontario Tech University with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology

✅️ Return to Bermuda equipped with the experience and knowledge to secure a job in its ever-growing tech industry.

Meet 2024 TLF Intern Kyla Philpott:

Kyla Philpott applied for the TLF program to expand her knowledge across various fields within IT. While she has long aspired to become a software engineer, she is exploring other areas in IT to discover a career that might ignite a stronger passion.

Kyla enjoys learning new things and believes the ever-growing IT field aligns with her interests. Her passion for problem-solving and troubleshooting further cements her place in the IT industry.

Kyla currently attends Bermuda College. Upon graduating, Kyla will have an associate degree in computer information systems. She plans to explore job opportunities available with this degree or continue her education and earn a bachelor's degree.

Her favorite subjects in school have always been art and English, and she maintains a strong affinity for these areas despite not currently studying them.

Kyla's three life goals are:

✅️ To find a career field she is passionate about and content to remain in for a long time, regardless of specific job changes.

✅️ To achieve a healthy balance between enjoying life and working in the field she loves, making work a place she looks forward to almost every day.

✅️ To continuously grow physically, mentally, and emotionally, allowing her to learn and develop as a person.

Meet 2024 TLF intern Matthew Crisson:

Matthew applied to the TLF program to better himself and push beyond his personal limits. He is always eager to learn more because learning is his passion.

He decided to study Information Technology because it brings him happiness due to constant learning, driving him to go the extra mile every day.

Matthew currently attends Bermuda College. After graduating with his Associate's degree, he plans to go to Canada to earn his bachelor's degree and then return to Bermuda.

Matthew's favorite subjects at Bermuda College are any IT-related courses, such as database management and introductory HTML and web pages, which always feed his enthusiasm for technology.

Matthew's goals are as follows:

✅️ To better himself each and every day, even if it is a small step.

✅️ To broaden his understanding and knowledge of technology and the various aspects of the IT industry.

✅️ To do his best every day and go the extra mile to achieve his goals.

We're happy to announce six talented IT interns that were carefully selected into our 2024 TLF Summer Program!

These bright individuals are not only bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the program, but they will also receive hands-on learning, develop soft skills, and gain real-world work experience. They will complete exams and create an innovative project that will benefit Bermuda and contribute to our projects.
