FOLLOWING: The US State Department has lowered its Bahamas travel advisory from Level 3 to Level 2, urging travelers to exercise increased caution but not warning citizens to avoid travel to the country.

Great news for tourists coming to the island

This is great news for visitors coming to the island!

BREAKING: Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis said effectively immediately on mainland Abaco, the curfew will be removed from 8pm to 5am, and replaced with a 10pm to 5am curfew. He also announced that fully vaccinated individuals will be exempted from PCR testing when traveling domestically. He said these travelers will be exempted immediately after full vaccination.

He also announced that effective May 1, international travelers will be exempted from a COVID-19 test once have been fully vaccinated and have passed the two-week immunity period. However, individuals who have not been fully vaccinated will still be required to obtain a negative PCR test to enter the country. He also announced that fully vaccinated individuals can interact in closed environments once all individuals in that group have been fully vaccinated. He said indoor dining can resume for fully vaccinated individuals. The eased restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals come as the government seeks to expand its vaccination program.

BREAKING: GOVT. ACQUIRES GBIA FOR $1

Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D'Aguilar revealed that the government has purchased the Grand Bahama International Airport (GBIA) for $1.

Speaking to colleagues in the House of Assembly this morning – Wednesday, March 24 – D'Aguilar added that the government will seek to enter a PPP for the rebuilding of the GBIA.

"We cannot rebuild this airport with government alone, we must go out and seek a similar contract to what we have in Nassau. There is no other way.

"I am happy to report that we have interest in a PPP for this airport," the minister of tourism added.
