Here are the ladies to participate in this year's Kinky Project.

With such beautiful submissions and a wide variety of hair types and textures the selection process for this year was really difficult for the team.
We even ended up going beyond the intended number .

I can't wait until we all get to make some magic.
Stay tuned to this page for future updates.

It's time! It took us a really long time to make this decision but we did it... Tomorrow night we'lll reveal the chosen participants in this year's Kinky Project.

This week I wanted to share a few of the images I got from this year's first day back to school last week and share a quick photography lesson.
Minister Hanna-Martin personally thanked me for capturing the first image of a Willard Patton student running towards her for a hug. It's such a great moment. The expression on the Minister's face and the little girl running so fast that she's blurred. I'm glad I was able to capture it but I almost didn't.
Truth is I was still over at another classroom gathering details when they got to that class.

I hurried in a few steps behind them and just as I did she was off and running towards Minister Hanna-Martin.
I had just enough time to maneuver my camera towards them and spray and pray. Also my flash did not fire. 😅
Luckily though I was shooting in Raw+jpeg and was able to save what I got from the RAW data. I usually don't shoot raw for my daily work because of the file sizes but I'm so glad I did. Scroll to the end to see the original image.

I really love shooting the first day back. A lot of the kids are super excited to see their favourite teachers and administrators. Of course some aren't though lol.
What do you think?

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to provide The Penn Family with some portraits in honor of their grandmothers birthday.

Here's a lesson in not putting off for tomorrow what you can do today.

On the morning that I was to take these family/maternity photos I messaged to ask if she would want to switch until the day after because the weather was absolutely terrible.

We decided to keep the time but even as I was driving to the location the rain was still pouring but I was hoping for the best.

When I got there it was cloudy but the rain had stopped long enough for us to wipe off some surfaces and make the session happen. Just as we were taking the last few shots the rain came pouring down.
But we had made it and that very same night her baby boy came into the world.

If we had waited just one day we probably would've been doing a newborn session.

Hey guys. My apologies there was a slight error on my part. Several submissions were sent to my spam folder prior to the deadline and I only discovered them this week. Anyhoo here are the submissions for this years Kinky Project!

Thought I'd follow up last week's Goombay post with some of my pics from The Emancipation Day Junkanoo rush and share a little bit with you guys as well.

Recently I noticed that my style for shooting events has changed somewhat. I owe that largely to a new lens ;the sigma 35mm 1.4. Before I would use my 85mm ( more of a portrait lens) to grab really good close up shots of individuals in groups and separate them from the group almost in the photo.
The 35 allows me to stay relatively wide and that 1.4 aperture picks up every bit of available light and still manages to be sharp. I love it!!

My favourite part of this night was when the Saxons were getting started and made a fanfare of wade in the water (I think that was the song). It was a really powerful song to hear coming from their brass section. Awesome job guys!

I really really love these rush outs more almost more than I do the actual Junkanoo parades. There's just such a degree of freedom and just vibing to the music.

Also insta carousel appears to now allow up to 20 pics. Cool stuff.

I HAD to share these images from Bahamas Goombay Summer last Friday with y'all. The show featured truly great performances by all the artists. For me though the stand out was Johnny Cake jumping off stage into the crowd to lead them in a dance. The fire dancers were great as well.
Topping the evening off was a Rush out from Chambers Junkanoo production which is a combination of members from different A groups.

My favourite image from the night though is this first slide when one of Chippies Goombay Dancers invited this disabled girl to join in the dance. I couldn't help but think about how I probably would've skipped her out of fear of messing something up or causing injury. But he literally pressed forward on her chair to bring her in and look at the joy on her face! EPIC!!

So I don't consider myself a sports shooter. Never really was a fan of watching any particular sport in and really only vaguely familiar with general rules and concepts. So when it comes time to shoot them I typically find it very difficult and have to get out of my own head and just do what I'm good at.

Being creative and shooting passion.

Congratulations to The members of Team Bahamas from this year's Carifta Aquatics Championships !!!

Made it up the hill quicker today but was pretty much done a little ways into the run back. Opted to just walk at that point.

Here's some of what we got.

Last November I had the opportunity to provide wedding portraits to Barrington and Monique following their ceremony. This presented a bit of a challenge for me because it happened to be on my busiest booked day last year with sessions all around the island but we made it happen.

If you've carefully viewed my portfolio you would recognize Monique as one of the ladies that participated in The Kinky Project. As such I knew she would be an absolutely beautiful bride and was honored I'd have the opportunity to capture these memories.

Because of scheduling and location we decided on a shaded green area around Ft Charlotte and this is what we captured.

Let me know what you think.

Last year I had the opportunity to work with Anastasia to create some headshots to prepare for a new professional role and a casual set of portraits. I knew a white background would totally set off this pink suit she had which perfectly complimented her dazzling smile.

This year gave us great opportunities to provide clients with lasting memories. Thanks to all of you for your support throughout the year and this holiday season. Merry Christmas to you all and a very prosperous and Happy New Year!!

I'm taking a bit of a break from behind the laptop to share with you these beautiful family portraits of The Dean's that we took at the end of November during my On Location Portrait special.

On location portraits are awesome because they allow the client to choose someplace that is familiar to them and may hold a special meaning. For these we opted to do them at home due to time constraints and with a little moving of some furniture we got some awesome results.

Let me know what you think.

A short while ago I shared with you all the surprise proposal of my friends Tramaine and Fleuronn. Recently we got the pair to dress up for a set of formal engagement photos at a stone's throw away that perfectly highlight their green and gold ceremony theme.
