🤍Find someone who treats you with compassion and understanding, and makes you feel like you can talk about anything without being judged.
💛Open and honest communication with your gynecologist is essential for your health.
🤎It's important to feel comfortable talking to your gynecologist about intimate topics, such as birth control, menstruation, s*x, menopause etc.
The summer heat ☀️ and humidity can make menopause symptoms feel unbearable 🔥! It may seem like hot flashes are a random, unpredictable occurrence, but in reality, they’re often precipitated by some type of trigger. If you pay attention to what’s happening just before a hot flash strikes, you may be able to identify your personal triggers and avoid them.
Avoid the common triggers:
⛔️hot indoor environments, wearing tight clothing, smoking/vaping, caffeine, alcohol, sugary foods, and spicy foods.
Lifestyle Changes:
✅ Wear light clothes or dress in layers so you can remove them when a hot flash strikes.
✅Take a cool shower during the day and before bed.
✅Run cool water over the wrists. There are many blood vessels in the wrists, so this may be a good way to cool off quickly.
✅Keep a healthy weight. Hot flashes can be more frequent and severe if people are overweight or obese. Keep a healthy weight by doing regular exercise and having an active lifestyle, and eating the right food.
✅Relax and reduce stress. Slow and deep breathing and meditation/yoga are techniques that can help relieve stress and reduce hot flashes.
🥑Magnesium is found in a variety of nutrient-dense foods, including whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and several fruits and vegetables.
🤎Dark chocolate is very rich in magnesium. It’s also in high in iron, copper, and manganese and contains prebiotic fiber that can help feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut.
💪During menopause, it's important for keeping bones strong and preventing osteoporosis, or weakening of bones. Magnesium may also reduce unwanted side effects of menopause, such as difficulty sleeping and depression while supporting heart health.
📈Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment used to help menopause symptoms. It replaces the hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which fall to low levels as you approach the menopause.
🚺Oestrogen and progesterone are an essential part of period cycles, ovulation and pregnancy. They also keep your bones healthy. As you get older, the loss of these hormones can have a big effect on your body.
💗To replace these hormones, you'll usually take a combination of oestrogen and progestogen. If you've had a hysterectomy to remove your womb you can take oestrogen on its own.
If you're interested in learning more about HRT, get in touch with us. We're here to answer all your questions 💛
Fibroids are benign (noncancerous) growths that form in or around the uterus. July is Fibroid Awareness Month, and it is important for women to understand what fibroids are and how they can be treated.
Fibroids may grow without causing any symptoms at all. However, they can interfere with your quality of life depending on their size and location. The most common symptoms include:
💡Heavy menstrual bleeding: Fibroids can cause menstrual cycles to be heavier than normal or last longer than usual. Patients should track their menstrual cycles to look for any changes in bleeding patterns.
💡Frequent urination: Fibroids may press against the bladder and cause urinary frequency or urgency. Try to urinate at regular intervals to see if this is a problem.
💡Constipation: Some growths press against the re**um and make it difficult to have a bowel movement. Drink water and eat fiber-rich foods to stay regular.
💡Discomfort during in*******se: Fibroids are known to cause pain during s*x. Talk to your partner about any discomfort you may be experiencing.
💡Pelvic pain and pressure: Patients may have a dull ache or sharp pain in the lower abdomen or pelvis due to fibroids. This pain may radiate to the lower back, buttocks, or legs.
Happy Independence Day, Bahamas!
💡Menopause is defined as having occurred when a woman has not had any menstrual bleeding for a year. It usually affects women between the ages of 45 and 55, but it can happen earlier.
💡Any vaginal bleeding or spotting that starts a year or more after you've gone through menopause is considered abnormal.

How do doctors check for endometriosis?
Your gynecologist may suspect endometriosis based on symptoms (see list below) and the findings during a pelvic exam. Currently, the only way to diagnose endometriosis is through 'laparoscopy' – a minor minimally invasive surgical procedure that is done under general anesthesia (while the patient is asleep).
Some common symptoms of endometriosis are:
❗️pain in your lower tummy or back (pelvic pain) – usually worse during your period
❗️period pain that stops you doing your normal activities
❗️pain during or after s*x
❗️pain when p*eing or pooing during your period
❗️feeling sick, constipation, diarrhoea, or blood in your p*e or poo during your period
❗️difficulty getting pregnant
Deep ovarian endometriosis forms dark fluid-filled cavities that can vary in size known as endometriomas or "chocolate cysts".
Chocolate cysts are a subgroup of endometriosis. They’re often associate with more severe forms of the disorder.
When symptoms do occur, they’re similar to those of endometriosis. They can include:
- painful, crampy periods
- pelvic pain not related to your menstrual cycle
- irregular periods
- pain during s*x
- infertility for some women
What is endometriosis? It occurs when cells that are similar to the ones that line your uterus grow in other areas of the body.
People with endometriosis will often experience different symptoms and levels of pain. You may have endometriosis and never experience any symptoms. Others can experience severe pain from their first period.
Endometriosis will often get worse if left untreated. If you’re experiencing symptoms, they’re also likely to get worse. Managing your endometriosis can help to reduce the impact of symptoms on your day-to-day life.

💡Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb (uterus).
🚺Many women are unaware they have fibroids because they do not have any symptoms.
😞Women who do have symptoms (around 1 in 3) may experience:
- heavy periods or painful periods
- tummy (abdominal) pain
- lower back pain
- a frequent need to urinate
- constipation
- pain or discomfort during s*x
If you are experiencing any symptoms or discomfort get in touch with us today 💚
💡Exercise is important at any time, but even more so during menopause.
💪Building muscles protects your bone density. As your estrogen declines, calcium absorption into your bones declines with it. Consistent resistance training is a great way to protect yourself from bone loss.
Have a safe and Happy Valentine's Day ❤❤❤
🌼Evening primrose oil benefits include helping manage female hormonal balance issues like PMS and menopause; fertility; skin concerns including eczema, psoriasis and acne; arthritis; and osteoporosis.
💡A recent study in 170 women who’d reached menopause found that those who supplemented with 2,000mg of evening primrose oil daily for eight weeks experienced significant reductions in the frequency and severity of night sweats compared to a placebo group.
💡You're more prone to heart problems on birth control if you:
-Are over 35
-Smoke
-Have high blood pressure
-Are diabetic
-Have had a heart attack previously
The hormones in birth control that are naturally occurring in your body don’t cause problems. However, when you take extra of these hormones for long periods of time, they can have side effects, some of which could affect your HEART.
Hormones in birth control can raise your BLOOD PRESSURE, so keeping an eye on your blood pressure is essential in preventing problems.
Hormonal birth control also can affect your CHOLESTEROL, which may lead to an accumulation of a substance called plaque in your arteries. This plaque narrows your arteries and may lead to a heart attack or stroke.
Birth control also increases your risk of BLOOD CLOTS, so you need to understand the risks particularly if you already have a predisposition to heart problems.
