👑MEET OUR WOMAN IN HEALTH👑 HEATHER HANLAN
Heather is an author, award-winning physiotherapist, a life coach; and the founder of Bahamas Wellness Solutions (BWS), a brand specializing in reshaping the mind, body and spirit. For over 22 years, Heather has empowered clients around the world to overcome physical impairments through a holistic practice edicated to restoring the mind and body. This comprehensive approach to the healing process goes beyond strengthening weakened limbs purely through a regimen of movement and exercise to ultimately renew the soul.

As the first Director of Rehabilitation Services for the Public Hospitals Authority in Nassau, Bahamas, Heather was honored with the Clinical Excellence Professional Organizational Award for Allied Health in 2016. She has held various leadership positions within her field, including serving as the President and Vice-President of The Bahamas Association of Physiotherapists. Heather obtained her BS in Biology from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada and an MS in Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne in Melbourne Australia. Heather also received a post graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.

Heather currently lives and works in Nassau, Bahamas, where she enjoys reading, dancing, and discovering new shoe styles and jewelry pieces.

👑MEET OUR SESSION MOTIVATOR 👑 RAQUEL G. MINNS
Raquel G. Minns is a motivational maven who is passionate about women’s empowerment. She is the founder of AIM Her, a movement birthed to A.I.M. (Affirm, Inspire and Motivate) women to discover, activate and fulfil their God-given purpose in the earth. Raquel was born and raised on the beautiful island of Nassau, Bahamas. A member of Trinity “City of Praise” church for over twenty-eight years, Raquel has served in the capacity of youth and dance leader where she developed her passion for mentoring young people, more specifically, young women.

A graduate of Barry University with an MBA in Human Resource Development, her life’s purpose is evident in every facet of her life. Encouraged to live her life to inspire, encourage and reassure women of who they are and who they can become, Raquel is committed to being a change agent in the earth.

Raquel passionately pursues purpose and influences, motivates and encourages others to do the same.

👑MEET OUR WOMAN IN HEALTH👑 - Dr. Nikkiah Forbes is the Director of the National HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Programme in the Bahamas. She is an Infectious Disease Consultant at the Princess Margaret Hospital and Doctors Hospital and also serves as Clinical Tutor at the University of the West Indies, School of Clinical Medicine and Research (SCMR), Bahamas.

Dr. Forbes graduated from The University of the West Indies medical school with honors in surgery and was the first recipient of the SCMR’s Cecil Bethel Award as the top graduate in her class in 2002. During her postgraduate specialty training in Internal Medicine, she was appointed Chief Resident in Medicine at the University Hospital of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica. After residency, Dr. Forbes completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of the West Indies Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kingston, Jamaica, in conjunction with
the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine.

Dr. Forbes is the focal point for infection prevention and control and antibiotic stewardship in The Bahamas. She is actively engaged in medical research and presents her work at national, regional and international scientific meetings. Dr. Forbes is a member of the American College of Physicians, Infectious Disease Society of America, Society for
Healthcare Epidemiology of America and HIV Medical Association.

Ms. Paulette Dean is a thirty nine (39) year Registered and Trained Psychiatric Nurse practicing in Nassau, Bahamas. She is an Internationally Certified Addictions Professional 1 (ICAP1), with The Colombo Plan ICCE. She possesses many years of experience in treating patients with various medical, surgical and psychiatric disorders , inclusive of addictions.

Mrs. Dean is a Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) trained and certified facilitator, with The National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP), Maryland, U.S.A. MRT is known as the ‘premiere cognitive based program’ for substance [and addictions] treatment. Furthermore, she possesses a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN), from The University of The Bahamas. Mrs. Dean is a trained adult Educator, Program Planner, Certified Addiction
Counsellor, skilled discharge planning consultant and experienced case management professional.

Significantly, Mrs. Dean highly values her most important experience being that of a ten (10) year recovering gambling addict. As a proponent for gambling addiction awareness, treatment and recovery, Mrs. Dean utilizes her ability to exercise tremendous empathy, social and practical intelligence in the provision of quality compassionate care and clinical expertise to address clients with this addiction
She obtained her Gambling Addiction Specialist training in 2019, with The University of Minnesota program, “Studies in Gambling Addiction: Counseling The Disordered Gambler”.

Her aspiration is to assist as many persons as possible with this hidden but debilitating disorder. This goal is undergirded by her personal philosophy that:
“Clients are viewed as individuals, with unique needs, characteristics and circumstances. Care and treatment options, which are grounded in evidence
based practice, and are developed in accordance to the exceptional need(s) of the client, their significant other(s) and family.”

👑MEET OUR WOMEN IN HEALTH👑 BRENDA SMITH
Brenda completed basic nurse training in 1984 with a Diploma in Nursing. At present she serves as the Senior Manager, Training & Development at Sandilands Rehabilitation. She is also a Psychiatric and Renal Trained Nurse and has an Advanced Certificate in Nursing Education with Honours and a Master of Science in Nursing Education, Distinction from UWI.

Brenda is an International Certified Addictions Professional and a Gambling Addiction Specialist. She is also a lecturer for various programs including the Post Basic Psychiatric Nursing, Program for RNs, the Renal Nursing Program for RNs and Professionalism
Programs, amongst others. Ms. Smith is a member of SRC public education team and enjoys teaching and has 40 years experience in the medical field. Her hobbies includes reading, traveling, listening to music.
When she's not working you can find her attending the Church of God of Prophecy and enjoying motherhood. She has one son and a daughter and is a grandmother of two.

Her Philosophy: “Strive for Excellence Always.”
