Here’s my 50th Independence reel, officially a week late🙃 🇧🇸 A few weeks ago, the @signisland team was tasked with designing this wall space that highlighted the past 5 decades of leadership and accomplishment in The Bahamas. Although we didn’t get to include all of the things I wanted to in this project (#deadlines), this sparked a curiosity in me to learn more about my beautiful country’s recent history, specifically the events that led to our independence. Lots more to learn and to do, but I am proud, grateful and inspired. I love being part of the Sign Island team, and I love being Bahamian. I know y’all wanted to hear that other song on this reel but I been waking up with that in my head for weeks and we een doing dat taday! 💛💙🖤

This day isn’t particularly significant; I just figured it would be cool to post this design that didn’t make the cut for a project I worked on last week.

Sometimes I fall in love with a design, and the client simply doesn’t like it. 🤷🏽‍♀️ No love lost. I was taught not to fall in love with a piece, but to fall in love with the process, and feedback is part of the process.

Throwback to that time someone just wanted a baby elephant holding a teacup. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I 'carved' this out of styrofoam using old kitchen utensils and sand paper.
In retrospect, I wish I’d painted it pink, because , but we'll settle for a pink(ish) background. Also, without the background, I realize there's no visual reference for size, so it kinda looks super tiny, but this was probably 18" - 24" tall. I don't know where/if it exists now. It's been 84 years (cue Titanic meme) 🥲

It's ! Not sure if that’s a thing, but I’m making it a thing, for me. A book I’m reading says I should show my work, even the works in progress.
I shared this piece on my stories about a week ago (week ago), and it seemed to appeal to more people than I thought it would. Although I'm not 100% sure what's next for it, I know it's not done. This is just one of several pieces to come, with the theme "Sunshine", which is inspired by a conversation I had with a very dear friend when I was going through a really hard time. A lot of my work is centered around my personal experiences and emotions, so let me know if it gets too mushy. Just joking, if it's too much, das ya business! 🙃
We all heal ourselves in different ways, and this way is mine.
