STATEMENT From
Dr. Lynwood Brown Founder and Organizer of Med Team Dorian

As you are aware The Bahamas was struck with a Category 5 hurricane which devastated some of our islands, in particular Grand Bahama and Abaco. When I heard of the human suffering as a result of this mammoth storm I couldn't help but to spring into action. I immediately called for a group of volunteers with some medical training or background. The response to this call was astonishing and to date we have over 300 volunteers in our database.
I had the good fortune to have been joined in my efforts by a group of wonderful individuals each with a skill set that I did not have. I was joined by Dr. Theresa Adderley who assisted with the organizational structure and brought technology to the table. I was also joined by Mr. Terence Bethel who help create and manage the data base of volunteers. Mr Kishon Turner along with Mr. Bethel sorted and input data. Mr Turner also brought his years of experience as an paramedic and first responder. We also had Mr. Adrian Francis who brought his communication skills as well as his public releations experience to help get the sustained message out. Ms. Astrid Bodie has also been instrumental in the organization in her capacity as managing of human resources, her ability to reason and provide clarity of government protocols and procedures. We wouldn't be complete if we didn't keep Christ to the center of our endeavors and we got this in the form of former Christian Council President Bishop Simeon Hall and current Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander.
Immediately as the stormed cleared, we had medical teams go along with The United States Coast Guard to Abaco to assess and evacuate the sickest of the sick. We went on six of these voyages. We had medical teams on boats and ships heading to Abaco to assess, treat and accompany the sick back to New Providence ensuring their safety and maintenance of health throughout the course of the trip. We had done so six of those trips. We also sent a team to North Eleuthera to assist the medical staff there who were charged with the responsibility of caring for the evacuees taken there for safe keeping. Currently there are nine shelters in New Providence and we have teams in each shelter. We have Rochelle Bastian, a pharmacist who volunteered not only her time but also her resources in providing much needed medication for the people in these shelters some of which were sick and out of their medicine.
MED TEAM BAHAMAS is doing our civil duty and would continue to do so with the help of our wonderful and unselfish group of volunteers and off course with the continued blessing of GOD. We be here ready willing and able to offer our assistance when and wherever it is needed.
