University of the Bahamas Disabilities and Compliance celebrated Character Day Bahamas WIth the Red Cross Centre For the Deaf under the theme " We Can" where we discussed Self- Advocacy.
Director Erin Brown Introduced herself using sign language and her sign name.
We introduced the teachers, staff and students to the video "One Day" Official Music Video Ft. Sean Forbes, WAWA's World, and the Deaf Children from Barbados
The link below:
https://youtu.be/VxuugVz7-tQ?si=4uavfxILX6q-V-EN

The asked the question "If you were Prime Minister for One Day what would you change? " to encourage the students on the importance of using your voice, asking for help and complete what they start even when others stay no.

Director Brown took them on our journey how we all must learn how to self-advocate, which helps us to become change agents for others drawing from her own journey with bone cancer to becoming a trailblazer for The Bahamas.

The students were gifted with a community gift to jumpstart the Holiday Fun and a special keepsake for each of them as reminder to " If I Can , They Can "

We took the time to introduce other black deaf history makers in film and entertainment, performing arts, fashion and more around the world.
Leaving them with the words of CJ Jones Comedian, Actor, Producer and Director
" I can prove that anything is possible. It has nothing to do with being deaf or black or any disabiility and color, it has to do with passion to do greather thanks in life !"

We don’t get a lot of space in society to talk about these things, and Safe Zone trainings unique and wonderful because they’re exactly that. A safe place to ask questions, to be vulnerable. Safe Zone trainings are safe places for people to learn more, about their own gender/sexuality and deepen their understanding of LGBTQ+ identity and issues.
