Today is the anniversary of Hurricane Dorian’s landfall in The Bahamas, an event that devastated our nation and one that we still feel the impact of.

This damage of this natural disaster was only compounded by the horrible response of this FNM Government, I don’t like to reminisce on bad times, but I don’t think we should forget them as lessons can be learned, so I have a few questions for the public.

How long did Hubert Minnis take to visit Grand Bahama and The Abacos in the aftermath of Dorian?

How much of the $1.77 Billion pledged was accepted? We were promised a Report and never received it.

Why did we make a whole new Disaster Reconstruction Administration when NEMA already existed and how much is its new staff being paid from money that was designated for the people of The Abacos and Grand Bahama.

Where is the Report we were promised on Dorian spending, we seem to have received many donations, but no one can see where they were spent.

Do you remember how many of us Hubert Minnis left to die, while saying that we should have moved to an area that didn’t flood when practically the entire island of Grand Bahama flooded?

Do we realized families still haven’t got the bodies of their relatives since Dorian when they saw them be stuffed in containers. These same people are dealing with the lack of ability to claim insurance, receive closure and get their affairs in order.

Who remembers the mass burial we had in Abaco, where members of the government wouldn’t even talk to the loved ones of families while dropping caskets and shoving bodies in the ground quickly.

Who remembers this government promising to build hurricane shelters, and all kind of state of the art things to diminish hurricane damage, but when we check shelter lists, it’s the same thing in flooded locations.

Who remembers private citizens on Grand Bahama using their resources to save lives and personal funds to support the community as the government neglected them and NEMA held supplies designated for Non-Profit organizations so they could distribute them as early campaigning material. The same happened in Abaco where business people had to charter planes to rescue families as the government was trying to charge them to get off island.

This is only the tip of the iceberg, but we can’t forget how horrible the FNM and Hubert Minnis handled this situation and many more.

Bad governance is especially seen in challenging times.

RICHEST OF THEM ALL: Kingdom Government Movement leader declares net worth of $53m; D’Aguilar files $38m

Kingdom Government Movement Leader Dr Kevin King has declared a net worth of $53,129,820 to become the richest candidate vying for election on September 16.

After King, incumbent Freetown candidate and Tourism minister Dionisio D’Aguilar is the wealthiest incumbent with a total net worth of $37,951,803 — more than double the net worth of the leaders of both major political parties.

The financial disclosures submitted to the Parliamentary Registration Department were gazetted in The Tribune today.

King lists his total income as $38,500 with assets including $8m in real estate and $35m in securities, while D’Aguilar has declared an annual income of $1,467,988, just under $3m in real estate and some $32m in securities/investments.

Free National Movement Leader and Killarney incumbent Dr Hubert Minnis listed a net worth of $14,048,902, and Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador incumbent Philip Davis, leader of the Progressive Liberal Party, declared a net worth of 4,100,237.

The PLP’s Deputy Leader and Exuma incumbent Chester Cooper declared a net worth of $14,832,882.

Coalition of Independents Leader and Pinewood candidate Lincoln Bain listed a net worth of $1,486,955.47.

Democratic National Alliance leader Arinthia Komolafe, who is vying for the Carmichael seat, listed a total net worth of $640,900, with a total annual income of $465,500.

Other notable figures include Elizabeth incumbent and former Minister of Health Dr Duane Sands, $6,958,000; Seabreeze candidate Leslia Miller-Brice, $3,119,000; and Freetown candidate Wayne Munroe, 2,791,000.
