"Annual Paro Tshechu", witnessed by thousands of devotes.

TSHECHU:
Tshechu literally means the "tenth day", is an annual religious Bhutanese festivals held in each district of Bhutan on the tenth day of the month on the lunar calendar to commomerate the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpochhe. Tshechus are religious festivals of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school of Buddhism.Guru Rinpochhe, the great scholar, visited Tibet and Bhutan in the 8th century. He used to convert opponents of Buddhism by performing rites, reciting mantras and finally performing a dance of subjugation to conquer local spirits and gods. He visited Bhutan to aid the dying king Sindhu Raja. Guru Rinpochhe performed a series of such dances in the Bumthang Valley to restore the health of the king. The grateful king helped spread Buddhism in Bhutan. Guru Rinpochhe organized the first tshechu in Bumthang, where the eight manifestations of Guru Padmasambhava was presented through cham(mask dance). These became the Cham dances depicting the glory of Guru Padmasambhava.

Wishing every Bhutanese, 114 National Day”

22/09/2021

Blessed Rainy Day is the holiday marking the end of the monsoon season in Bhutan. On this day all natural water resources in the country are considered to be sanctifying and citizens are encouraged to take an outdoor bath to be cleansed of "bad deeds, obstructions and defilements" and accumulated bad karma. Families traditionally gather for a meal of thup (porridge) at breakfast time. The holiday also marks the end of the farming season and the beginning of the harvest season.

Government offices, schools, and institutions are closed for the day.
The most auspicious hour for the ablution is determined by astrologers in the service of the Je Khenpo, the chief abbot of the country. They refer to the Bhutanese lunar calendar (essentially the Tibetan lunar calendar). Citizens who are unable to bathe at the exact hour instead often rise before dawn for a brisk morning splash.
Variant romanizations of the Dzongkha name of the holiday include Thrue-Bab.

THIMPHU TSHECHU!!!

"TSHECHU" is what the local Bhutanese people call for the religious festival that is performed throughout the country. The Tshechu is performed in different districts on different months and different dates accordingly to the Lunar Calender. The term "Tshechu" means the 10th day in the local Bhutanese language. The religious dances that are performed during the Tshechu honors the birth anniversary of the Great Saint "Guru Rinpochhe". Guru was said to be born on the 10th day of the Lunar month during the 8th century. The locals believe that the dances performed during the Tshechu are mainly to ward of the evils & to cleanse the viewer of sin.
