The Mohembo Bridge, also known as the Okavango River Bridge, connects villages on the east of the river with the rest of the country, straddles the Mohembo East (Kauxwi) ferry landing site with the Mohembo West (Shakawe) ferry landing site. The 1,2km bridge consists of two towers for the cable stayed portion and 18 piers. The bridge is 1,161 metres long, the longest in the , and in 2023 became one of the winners of Award of Merit by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). The pylons (also known as cable stays) are in the shape of elephant tusks.
