Training, Mentoring and Incubation
IED is part of the ongoing Data Collection Survey on Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) Promotion Project in Botswana.
The Survey aims to collect recent and comprehensive information on the SMME sector and the SMME Finance Opportunities in Botswana. The project is commissioned by the Japanese Government through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to identify programs for possible JICA support.

CONGRATULATIONS π
Tlotlo Pearl Bolaane scooped position four and walked away with P110, 000.00 after competing during the Youth Business Elevator Challenge (YBEC) where they first attended a compulsory five days Business Plan training.
YBEC was launched in June whith a call for participation attracting over 3 thousand applications. 700 applicants were shortlisted for training and only 457 completed training.
At the end of training, 110 finalists were shortlisted based on their
submitted business plans and went through a compulsory Masterclass for progression to the top 20. The top 20 Finalists were further coached during a Master Class on public speaking and pitching. On 14th August they pitched their business proposals to a panel of judges where they ended up making the cut to form top ten winners of a share of P1 million funded by the African Development Bank.

Congratulations to Tlotlo Bolaane, First Youth cohort one alumni for scooping position 4 in the Youth Business Elevator Challenge with a prize money of a whopping P110,000. Well done Tlotlo for being such an positive role model and outstanding ambassador to the programme.

We had two incredible networking sessions today and yesterday!
A huge thank you to Mr. Modiakgotla from CEDA and the FNB Compliance Department for joining us and sharing their invaluable insights with the First Youth Program participants. Their expertise and advice were truly inspiring and will undoubtedly help shape the future of these budding businesses.
Highlights from the session:
Mr. Modiakgotla provided deep insights into the levels of financial assistance available through CEDA, the CEDA viability checklist, contribution and security requirements for financial assistance helping entrepreneurs navigate their growth journeys. He also provided insights regarding the CHEMA CHEMA fund.
FNB Compliance Department offered crucial guidance on regulatory compliance, ensuring that our participants are well-prepared to meet their standards.

VENUE DIRECTIONS
HELLO. The venue for our event is in 230/G5, and it's located in between the Ub Library and Science Block.
If you're coming in through the main gate, you go straight and you'll see the absa atm,on the right of that atm as you approach from the small gate will be the venue.
If you are coming from the Nanogang gate,you go straight ahead and you pass behind the science block. When you finish the width of the red brick building, you turn left and you'll see the venue.
If you are using the stadium gate,proceed to 247, then you pass it heading to the sunset and behind 247 is a great building with glass upper floors,you go to left of that building and you'll see the venue.
If you get lost, you can ask the security personnel to show you where block 230/G5 is.

FIRST YOUTH SESSIONS
On Wednesday the 24th of July 2024, the first youth trainees were graced by a visit from Mr Thabo Bagwasi , founder of Access Travel and certified Company Secretary. Along side him came Ms Tshegofatso Mumba who is an alumni of the first youth programme.
For his part, Mr Bagwasi introduced the trainees to matters surrounding company registrations; taxation, company secretarial services and more. Mr Bagwasi further urged the class to comply to national regulations and operate legally for the advantages of it!
On her part , Tshegofatso shared her journey with First Youth , stating how life changing it was for her career and her small business enterprise! She went on to encourage the class to take the programme seriously and reap as much as they can from it . Upon completion of the programme, Tshegofatso successfully enlisted with the FNB Graduate Development Programme π₯³
